NCT ID: NCT05067777 Recruiting - Prostate Carcinoma Clinical Trials

Massage for Prostate Cancer-Related Fatigue, mPROSTATE Study

mPROSTATE
Start date: April 25, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This phase II trial investigates the effect of massage in decreasing prostate cancer-related fatigue. Massage therapy has well known health benefits. This trial aims to find out if massage and touch therapies reduce fatigue due to cancer, and to learn if these therapies are better than traditional medicine or psychology for cancer related fatigue.

NCT ID: NCT05033613 Recruiting - Pain Clinical Trials

Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Before and After COVID-19 Vaccination in Patients at High Risk of Cardiovascular Disease

Start date: September 10, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 causing COVID-19 was pandemic since 2020. Vaccination is one of the most important measure to control the outbreak. The countries of the world started the vaccination since December, 2020. Taiwan started since March, 21st, 2021. Currently, Taiwanese people receive COVID-19 vaccination by either AZ or Moderna; Pfizer/BNT vaccine may import in the near future. The side effects post vaccination including injection site pain, fatigue, headache, myalgia, chills, arthralgia, fever, and so on. Incidence of side effects more frequent in young people than elders; more frequent in the first dose than second dose in AZ vaccine; more frequent in the second dose in Moderna or Pfizer/BNT vaccine. Taiwan V-watch is a system monitored by CDC for people proactive notification of side effects post COVID-19 vaccination. But it doesn't include the objective cardiovascular parameters, for example, heart rate, arrhythmia, blood pressure, central body temperature (ear temperature) and blood oxygen saturation level. This study aims to monitor the physiologic and psychologic effects, and side effects before and after COVID-19 vaccination in patients at high cardiovascular risk, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and type 2 diabetes, and arrhythmia or coronary artery disease. The investigators arrange two weeks of continuous home BP/HR monitoring (7 days pre- and post-vaccination) for evaluation of physiologic effects post vaccination. Due to fever noted in some people post-vaccination, the investigators also measure ear temperature, pulse oximetry, and environmental temperature and humidity, for the reference of BP monitoring. In conclusion, this study may provide important information of cardiovascular response and psychosocial effects after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination for proactive prevention of cardiovascular complications.

NCT ID: NCT05030363 Recruiting - Fatigue Clinical Trials

ALDH Enzyme in CRF With Advanced GI Cancer

ALDHCRF
Start date: October 25, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) enzyme supplementation plays an essential role in the elimination of toxic metabolites and reduction of reactive oxygen species bioactivation, which can protect and relieve chemotherapy-related fatigue (CRF) in cancer patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ALDH enzyme in CRF with advanced gastrointestinal cancer patients. The primary endpoint is the change of FACIT-F (Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue) score on day 15 compared to baseline after chemotherapy. The secondary endpoint including change of FACIT-F on day 29 compared to day 15, change of ESAS (Edmonton Symptom Assessment System) on day 15 compared to baseline, safety and toxicities, and exploratory biomarkers.

NCT ID: NCT05013255 Recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Pioglitazone Therapy Targeting Fatigue in Breast Cancer

Start date: December 23, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this project is to evaluate the therapeutic potential of pioglitazone (PIO) to target underlying mechanisms that promote muscle fatigue in patients with breast cancer. This represents an off-label use of this compound, both in terms of the patient population and the clinical phenotype targeted. The central research hypothesis of this study is that daily pioglitazone will restore transcriptional downregulation of pathways within skeletal that promote fatigue.

NCT ID: NCT05012293 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Heart Rate Variability

Cognitive Fatigue, Self-Regulation, and Academic Performance: A Physiological Study

FRAPS
Start date: August 26, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to examine the relationship among cognitive fatigue, self-regulation, and academic performance.

NCT ID: NCT05011318 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Heart Rate Variability

Effects of Cognitive Fatigue on Heart Rate Variability and Skin Conductance

FRESH
Start date: August 25, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to examine the effects of cognitive fatigue on heart rate variability and skin conductance and develop a machine learning model.

NCT ID: NCT05009784 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Heart Rate Variability

Effects of Natural Sounds on Attention Restoration in Noisy Environment

EARS
Start date: August 25, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to examine whether listening to natural sounds in a noisy (traffic) environment compared to traffic noise only impacts behavioural, cognitive, affective, and physiological markers associated with attention restoration. Attention restoration will be examined as an aspect of cognitive fatigue.

NCT ID: NCT05003375 Recruiting - Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Trials

Physiological Responses in Experimentally Induced Cognitive Fatigue in People With Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

PREFIMS
Start date: October 15, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The current study will add to the current knowledge by combining several electrophysiological techniques to examine the relationship between physiological responses and cognitive fatigue and daily activity performance in a stress- and fatigue-inducing protocol. The aims of this study are: 1) to evaluate the feasibility and usability of assessing physiological responses in an experimental set-up and 2) to investigate the association between physiological outcomes, experimentally induced stress and cognitive fatigue in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and healthy controls.

NCT ID: NCT04988126 Recruiting - Pain Clinical Trials

Pain, Fatigue and Life Quality in COVID-19 Patients

Start date: February 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim in this study is to evaluate pain, fatigue and quality of life in patients with Covid-19 pneumonia in long-term follow-up and to investigate their relationship with pneumonia severity, age, presence of comorbidity and depression level.

NCT ID: NCT04984226 Recruiting - Diabetes Clinical Trials

Sodium Bicarbonate and Mitochondrial Energetics in Persons With CKD

Senergy-CKD
Start date: September 8, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Skeletal muscle metabolic health is critical for mobility and an underrecognized target of metabolic acidosis in chronic kidney disease. Impaired muscle mitochondrial metabolism underlies poor physical endurance increasing the risk of mobility disability. The proposed project will use precise in vivo tools to study the pathophysiology of poor physical endurance in a clinical trial treating metabolic acidosis among persons living with chronic kidney disease.
