Housing for Recovery Initiative

Recovery housing is a substance-free group home for those exiting drug and alcohol treatment. Individuals live in a recovery-focused environment with others traveling the same journey. Ohio Recovery Housing (ORH) creates and maintains standards of excellence for recovery housing in the state. Each house decides how it operates, with four different "levels" of housing available. These environments have the potential to help build a strong foundation in recovery to improve health, employment, and housing outcomes. ORH and LEO will launch a quasi-experimental study to measure the impact of recovery housing for individuals with substance use disorders. The design relies on variation in the availability of program spots to identify effects. Invitations to join a home will come from a waitlist. As the length of the waitlist is unrelated to applicant characteristics, movement off the waitlist can be considered essentially random. The research team will compare those who receive services to those who do not. The researchers hypothesize that those who participate in recovery housing will have improved health, employment, and housing outcomes compared to individuals who do not receive recovery housing services.

Effect of Attentional Therapy on Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with an attentional bias towards negative stimuli, which is supposed to contribute to the development and the maintenance of the disorder. We recently showed using eye-tracking evidenced two types of AB towards negative stimuli: a "physiological AB" found both in healthy and individual with PTSD, characterized by a stronger initial attentional engagement towards negative stimuli compared to neutral stimuli, as revealed by longer first fixation duration dwell time on negative pictures than on neutral pictures; a "pathological bias" observed only in individuals with PTSD and characterized by an heightened sustained attention towards negative stimuli once detected, which further increases with prolonged exposure. The present study aimed at assessing the effectiveness of an eye-tracking assisted attentional bias reduction therapy, targeting specifically the pathological bias on the reduction of PTSD symptoms

We hope to explore whether propofol can improve the postoperative sleep quality of elderly patients with sleep disorders, prevent the occurrence of postoperative delirium in elderly patients, relieve patients' pain, promote patients' postoperative rehabilitation, and provide reference for realizing the rapid rehabilitation of elderly patients with sleep disorders through intravenous administration of research drugs, on the premise of improving patient comfort and ensuring patient safety.

People with autistic spectrum disorder frequently present impaired motricity, or at least different motricity from neurotypical subjects (walking; postural balance; fine motor skills; motor control, etc.). Motor impairment can have impact on the performance and learning of simple tasks (bathing, dressing, writing, using tools, etc.), especially in children and teenagers. These last years, new therapeutics such as Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality technologies have developed. Their therapeutic interest has been identified in various pathologies like phobia. However, their influence on motor skills has been little studied. The first results obtained with disabled adults described a significant increase in walking speed after a 3-month Mixed Reality training.

Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. NMOSD is a highly relapsing, severely disabling disease. AQP4-IgG positive NMOSD is related to a specific aquaporin 4 antibody (AQP4 IgG) produced by mature B cells. BTK is a key kinase in B cell receptor signal transduction pathway. Abnormal activation of BTK related signaling pathway can lead to autoantibody production and autoimmune diseases. Therefore, BTK can be developed as a new target for autoimmune diseases.

e-GOLIAH in Autistic Spectrum Disorders

Randomized open-label study comparing children aged 3 to 6 years with autism and normal cognitive development or mild cognitive impairment receiving the usual treatment plus intensive use of eGOLIAH (experimental group) with children receiving only the usual treatment (control group). eGOLIAH (Gaming Open Library for Intervention in Autism at Home) is an accessible online platform for digital games inspired by the principles of the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), one of the care programs validated in the management of young ASD. The duration per patient will be one year. The exposure to e-GOLIAH for the experimental group will be done with the recommendation of intensive exposure to the game (5 sessions> ½ hour per week). Clinical variables will be assessed at entry, 6 months and 1 year (end of study). The EQ5D questionnaires will be collected by the supervising therapist during the follow-up visit and at the same time as the clinical variables.

A Prospective, Multicenter Cohort Study of Urinary Exosome lncRNAs for Preoperative Diagnosis of Lymphatic Metastasis in Patients With Bladder Cancer

Bladder cancer is one of the most frequent malignant tumors of the urinary system in China, seriously threatening the life safety of patients. The main treatment methods for bladder cancer include surgical resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy, among which surgical resection is still the only reliable radical treatment at present. Lymphatic metastasis is the main mode of metastasis of bladder cancer, and preoperative diagnosis is of great significance to determine whether radical surgical treatment can be performed for some patients with advanced bladder cancer. Recent studies reveal that exosomes, as key signaling molecules in the tumor microenvironment, have been confirmed to be associated with various tumor progressions. Our previous study showed that lncRNA-ELNAT1 highly expressed in urine exosomes of bladder cancer patients can promote lymphatic metastasis of bladder cancer by inducing lymphatic angiogenesis, and is associated with poor prognosis of patients. However, whether exosome ELNAT1 can be used as an independent preoperative predictor of lymph node metastasis of bladder cancer needs to be explored in further clinical trials, and this study will further clarify the association between the two. In this study, urine exosomes were collected from positive and negative control patients with lymph node metastasis of bladder cancer, and the ROC curve was statistically analyzed and fitted to determine whether exosome ELANT1 could be used as an independent predictor of lymph node metastasis of bladder cancer.

Neuromodulation of Inhibitory Control in Tic Disorders

The present study aims to assess the effects of non invasive electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve via transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) on cognitive functions, inhibitory and tic control in patients with tic disorders. Taking into account the role that GABA plays in inhibitory control, the presence of alteration of GABA neurotransmission in Tic disorders and the possibility to increase GABA release with tVNS, the investigators hypothesized that tVNS might improve behavioral control in Tic disorders. Moreover, as suggested by previous studies investigating the effects of tVNS in other patient populations, the investigators expected that tVNS will be safe and well tolerated. Such results would encourage the use of tVNS in Tic disorders.

A Clinical Study on the Effects of Inhalation of Volatile Oil of Cang-Ai Via the Nose on Patients With Depression

In this study, 60 depressed patients who meet the criteria will randomly be divided into a test group and a control group, with 30 patients in each group. The test group will be given Volatile oil of Cang-Ai (hereafter referred to as CAVO) for inhalation and the control group will be given Bergamot for inhalation. The observation indicators are that after one and two sessions of the intervention, the patients' blood pressure, heart rate, depression scale scores, and changes in functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS). This randomized controlled trial will be used to look at the clinical efficacy of CAVO in patients with depression.
