Additionally, this study aims to generate preliminary estimates on the extent to which CORE, compared with standard of care (SOC), elicits engagement in exercise and impacts changes in physical function and quality of life within this population.

Development of a Tailored Smoking Cessation Program for Individuals With HIV Infection in Washington, D.C.

Morbidity and mortality from smoking-related diseases among people living with HIV (PLWH) in the U.S. surpasses that due to HIV itself. Conventional smoking cessation treatments have not demonstrated strong efficacy among PLWH. The investigators conducted a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate a tailored smoking cessation intervention based on the minority stress model, hypothesizing that behavioral counseling through this lens would enhance cessation. The investigators compared standard of care counseling (SOC) to a tailored intervention (TI) including one face-to-face counseling session incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy to build resilience, and 30 days of 2-way text messaging.

Immune Modulators for Treating COVID-19

ACTIV-1 IM is a master protocol designed to evaluate multiple investigational agents for the treatment of moderately or severely ill patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The research objectives are to evaluate each agent with respect to speed of recovery, mortality, illness severity, and hospital resource utilization. Each agent will be evaluated as add-on therapy to the standard of care (SoC) in use at the local clinics, including remdesivir (provided). The SoC may change during the course of the study based on other research findings. Comparisons of the agents among themselves is not a research objective. The study population corresponds to moderately and severely ill patients infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) virus. Recruitment will target patients already hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19 infection as well as patients being treated for COVID-19 infection in Emergency Departments while waiting to be admitted to the hospital. Patients both in and out of the ICU are included in the study population.

Using a participatory approach, home healthcare workers will 1) review and revise video scripts and recordings that demonstrate effective and less effective communication strategies when talking to clients, families, and other stakeholders about health and safety hazards and 2) contribute to the creation and review of an interactive app that they perceive to be useful, usable, and desirable.

This is a multicenter, randomized, open label, controlled study evaluating the effectiveness, and safety of the Furoscix Infusor vs continued medical therapy in patients with chronic heart failure and fluid overload requiring augmentation in diuretic therapy outside of acute care setting. The study drug, Furoscix (furosemide injection 8 mg/ml), is a furosemide solution buffered to a neutral pH containing 80 mg/10 mL for subcutaneous administration over 5 hours via the Furoscix Infusor. The study objectives are: 1. To provide pilot data on the effectiveness and safety to inform a pivotal trial. 2. To inform population enrichment strategies 3.
