Endometriosis is a disorder that occurs in women. With endometriosis, tissue that should be found in the womb is found in sites outside of the womb. This disorder impairs the function of the cells that line the body's blood vessels (endothelium). The endothelium helps to control blood flow in healthy vessels. Women with this disorder have an increased risk for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. They have a higher risk for cardiovascular disease, too. With this study, we will learn how endometriosis impairs the lining of blood vessels and increases the risk for disease.
This study investigates the feasibility of conducting a randomized controlled trial of telehealth-enhanced hybrid cardiac rehabilitation (THCR) compared with traditional cardiac rehabilitation (CR) among acute coronary syndrome (ACS) survivors. THCR is a novel, hybrid model that targets the same core components as traditional CR (e.g., exercise training, patient education, and risk factor management), but uses a mixture of telehealth, clinic-, and home-based activities to offer 24 CR sessions (5 clinic-based + 19 home-based) over 12 weeks.
This trial studies whether intermittent fasting works to improve outcomes in patients with stage I-III breast cancer receiving chemotherapy before surgery (neoadjuvant) with a body mass index >= 25. Intermittent fasting has been shown to elicit similar metabolic changes as calorie restriction such as reduction in blood glucose levels, improved insulin sensitivity, and reduction of tumor cell growth. Intermittent fasting may improve outcomes in patients with breast cancer.
This is a first in children prospective study of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant using a centrally manufactured engineered donor graft (Orca-Q). The study will assess safety and efficacy of Orca-Q in pediatric patients with hematologic malignancies.
The Life University Center for Chiropractic Research is conducting a research study to better understand the physiological differences, in terms of Autonomic nervous system function, between individuals with Hypertension and control individuals with out hypertension. Data will be gathered using Heart Rate Variability (HRV), and Galvanic Skin Response (GSR). A series of tests will be conducted to elicit Autonomic Nervous system responses. These tests include Cold Face Test (mammalian dive reflex), Cold Pressor test, Sit to stand, and the Valsalva maneuver.
We will conduct a two-phase study. The first phase is to adapt and develop an active video game (AVG)-centered lifestyle physical activity (PA) intervention (POWER UP) for adolescents and young adults (AYA) with central nervous system tumors. The second phase is to test the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of a 12-week virtually delivered, group-based active video game-centered lifestyle physical activity intervention on function and quality of life in AYAs (aged 15-39) who are ≤1-year post-surgery for a central nervous system tumor. This population is at very high-risk for steep functional decline.

The purpose of this research protocol is to adapt the Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) protocol, which the investigators had developed to help treat PTSD (EAT-PTSD; the Man O' War (MOW) protocol), for use with adolescents who have an anxiety disorder. The MOW protocol is an eight session, group therapy EAT protocol, which the investigators developed, piloted, revised, and tested. EAT is an alternative treatment practiced across the United States and around the world for mental health disorders, in which the horse(s) play an essential role in an experientially oriented therapeutic approach. The MOW protocol is for group EAT, with groups led by a licensed mental health provider and an "equine specialist," working with two horses and assisted by a wrangler (horse handler) to assure safety. In the open trial, the MOW protocol showed promising results in reducing the level of PTSD and Depressive symptoms in veterans with moderate to severe PTSD, was found to be safe (no adverse events), and well accepted (very few dropouts (Fisher et al., 2021)) and found evidence of neural changes (Zhu et al, 2021). As part of the MOW project, the investigators prepared a well specified treatment manual (Fisher et al, 2021) - the first of its kind in the field of EAT - and have trained others in its use.
