The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the distraction cards, virtual reality and Buzzy® methods on venipuncture pain and anxiety in children aged 7-12 years.
Patients with complaints of shoulder pain or limitation of motion and had rotator cuff rupture diagnosed with magnetic resonance imaging will be analyzed and the patients with surgical indication will be included in a randomized fashion. One group of patient will undergo standard arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, while the other group will have microfracture procedure in addition to the standard arthroscopic repair. Before the operation, functional and clinical conditions will be recorded with Constant and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Shoulder Score (ASES) universal shoulder scoring systems and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) pain scale. The blood supply and healing of the tendon in the repair area will be compared by the doppler ultrasound (superb microvascular imaging) at the 2nd, 4th, 8th and 12th week after the operation. Post-operative clinical, functional status and pain levels will be evaluated with Constant, ASES and VAS pain scales at 24th week.
Hypertensive diseases of pregnancy are one of the most frequently encountered reasons for maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. The excretion of high levels of mucoprotein takes part in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia through restraining trophoblast invasion. This study aimed to investigate levels of serum mucoprotein three in hypertensive diseases of pregnancy. This study included a total of eighty cases that 20 normal pregnancy, 20 gestational hypertension, 20 preeclampsia, and 20 HELLP syndrome patients from June 2010- January 2011.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of two different exercises in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. In total, 28 subjects with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis were randomly divided into two groups: Schroth (n = 14) and stabilization group (n = 14). The Schroth group received Schroth exercises in addition to traditional rehabilitation, and the stabilization group received core stabilization in addition to traditional rehabilitation for 10 weeks. The outcome measures were based on Cobb angle, angle of trunk rotation, spinal mobility, cosmetic trunk deformity, muscle strength, and quality of life.
The purposes of this study is to examine balance, muscle strength, and mobility in relation with non-motor symptoms (NMSs) in patients with Parkinsosn's Disease (PD). NMSs have been shown to be the key determinant of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and have a greater effect on HRQoL compared to motor symptoms.Despite a growing literature on NMSs, there are few data on the association between NMSs and motor phenotypes of PD, and they have usually focused only on specific domains of NMSs, such as cognition, mood/anxiety issues, or sleep disorders. When literature is examined, there is no study which examines balance, muscle strength, and mobility in relation with NMSs in patients with PD.For all these reasons, we think that balance, muscle strength, mobility, and NMSs in patients with PD are worse than those of the healthy individuals and that there is a relationship between NMSs and motor symptoms.
