The clinical protocol at the hospital dictates a standard one-night hospital stay for all patients, but there is potential to extend the duration in specific cases. The study endeavors to explore the correlation between extended hospitalization, surgical proficiency, patient-specific factors, and postoperative complications in pediatric patients who underwent tonsillectomy and/or adenotonsillectomy at the clinic.

Combined Robotic Hand Rehabilitation and Conventional Rehabilitation for Post-stroke Rehabilitation

Objective: The investigators compared the effectiveness of individual and combined application of conventional rehabilitation and robotic hand rehabilitation in post-stroke hemiplegia. The study design is an An assessor-blinded, prospective randomized comparison study. Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to one of three groups: Group 1 (Robotic Hand Rehabilitation): The patients underwent robotic hand rehabilitation, Group 2 (Conventional Rehabilitation): The patients underwent conventional rehabilitation, Group 3 (Combined Rehabilitation): The patients underwent combined conventional and robotic hand rehabilitation at the same period. Randomization was performed using the closed envelope method randomization sequence by an investigator who was not involved in patient care. The therapist opened the envelope 6 hours before the patient started treatment. The investigators assessed Barthel index for activities of daily living (range, 0 - 100), Brunnstrom's hemiplegia recovery staging (range, stage 1 - stage 7), Fugl-Meyer upper extremity assessment scale (stage, 0 - 66), Abilhand stroke hand ability questionnaire assessment (range, 0 - 46), hand grip strength, and hand pinch strength at baseline and end of the rehabilitation (1-month). Conclusions: There are many studies in the literature on the hand and upper extremity functions of Conventional Rehabilitation and Robotic Hand Rehabilitation in stroke. They revealed that both therapies had a positive effect on the results. There is no study on the effect of combined application of Conventional Rehabilitation and Robotic Hand Rehabilitation on hand and upper extremity functions. More successful hand functional results may be achieved by applying both rehabilitations together in stroke. The aim of our study is to compare the effects of early-term individually and concomitant Conventional Rehabilitation and Robotic Hand Rehabilitation on hand and upper extremity functions and hand strength in stroke. Our hypothesis is that the combined application of Conventional Rehabilitation and Robotic Hand Rehabilitation together will provide better functional results of the hand and upper extremity.

Birth pain is the most severe pain experience known and defined, with physiological as well as psychological and sociocultural components that may vary among individuals.Pharmacological and non-pharmacological applications are used to relieve birth pain. While pharmacological methods reduce pain, they distract women from the physiological reality of birth and prevent women from accepting pain as a natural part of birth. Non-pharmacological methods are alternative options that will help women manage pain during birth by ensuring that women experience pain. Showering (hydrotherapy), one of the non-pharmacological methods used to reduce pain in labor, is used to increase relaxation and reduce birth pain. In a study conducted domestically, it was stated that the use of hydrotherapy during labor pain helped the woman relax, reduced the pain felt, lowered blood pressure and increased diuresis. Fatigue, in addition to being a universal symptom associated with diseases, is also a common complaint among healthy individuals. In line with the literature information, this study aims to examine the effect of shower applied during birth on postpartum fatigue and postpartum comfort.

Patients with epistaxis usually apply to the emergency department for initial treatment. According to recent research, tranexamic acid is effective in the treatment of epistaxis. The research compare the therapeutic superiority of saline with 500 and 1000 mg doses of topical tranexamic acid in the treatment of anterior epistaxis. The design of the phase 4 clinical trial was randomized controlled double-blind. A total of 152 cases in 3 groups were included in the study. Group 1 was treated with 1000 mg of tranexamic acid, group 2 with 500 mg of tranexamic acid, and group 3 with saline. The primary outcome of the study was bleeding control at the 5th and 10th minutes. Secondary outcomes were determined as the need for salvage therapy, recurrent bleeding within 24 hours, the presence of side effects, and the need for otorhinolaryngology consultation.

Still, there is no study published on the prophylactic use of balloon dilatation in children with tracheal stenosis.The study hypothesizes that implementing postoperative prophylactic CPAP in pediatric cases with subglottic stenosis undergoing balloon dilation may shorten recovery time and minimize airway complications.

Purpose: Chemotherapy treatment is a very different and difficult process. Considering the many physiological and psychological problems that patients experience during and after the treatment process, chemotherapy symptoms and psychological problems affect the quality of life of patients. Along with the burden of the disease, patients who experience physiological problems during chemotherapy may experience depression, stress, and anxiety. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of music played during chemotherapy on depression, anxiety, stress levels, and chemotherapy symptoms. Method: This study was conducted in a randomized controlled manner with a pretest-posttest control group random design model. The study population consisted of patients receiving treatment in the outpatient chemotherapy unit of Maltepe University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The study sample consisted of 49 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The power analysis determined that the sample number was 42 people in total, 21 in the experimental group and 21 in the control group. However, considering the data losses, it was decided that the number would be 25 experimental and 25 control. When one patient from the experimental group did not want to continue, the study was completed with 49 patients, 24 in the experimental group and 25 in the control group. The music recital will be applied 4 times in total, once a week, until the patients complete 1 cycle, i.e. 4 sessions. Patients in the experimental group were administered the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS -42) and Edmonton Symptom Diagnostic Scale (ESDS) before each session until the completion of one cycle, and music was played for 20-25 minutes during chemotherapy. After chemotherapy, the scales were applied again. In the control group, the scales were applied before chemotherapy treatment, no intervention was made during chemotherapy and the scales were applied again after chemotherapy.

Pregnancy and the moment of birth are important processes that women will remember throughout their lives and will always leave a mark on their lives. Birth pain is expressed as the most severe pain that women experience throughout their lives (although there is no standard measure due to the combination of different factors). Labor pain; It differs from other types of pain in that it is part of the natural process, occurs within a limited period of time, and the mother willingly endures this pain due to factors such as reuniting with her baby at the end of the process. Due to the possible negative effects of labor pain on maternal and fetal health, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) accept labor pain as an indication that should be treated. recommends that this pain be taken under control. Nowadays, non-pharmacological methods such as "massage, pilates ball, music therapy, acupuncture, aromatherapy" are widely used to manage pain during birth. Massage, which is among the non-pharmacological methods, is the oldest treatment and sensual stimulation method in the world. Massage is generally the first choice method because it has no side effects and is easy to apply. Studies have shown that massage applied during birth provides physical and psychological relief, reduces pain, anxiety, agitation and depressive mood, and increases maternal satisfaction. Determining birth satisfaction is important as it is an indicator of the health status of the mother and newborn as well as the quality of intrapartum care.Birth dance is a combination of music therapy and freedom of movement methods, which is one of the non-pharmacological methods. Birth dance begins in the active phase of the first stage of labor in order to reduce the pain perceived by the woman and to provide emotional support, and continues until the end of the first stage. The woman is given the opportunity to move rhythmically with someone she prefers (spouse/partner, mother, midwife, etc.), accompanied by relaxing light music. In addition to the music and body movements included in the dance, it is aimed to increase the effectiveness of the applied method by adding spouse/partner support and upright positions and at the same time to provide emotional support to the woman.
