Cervical radiculopathy was first described in 1943 by researchers named Semmes and Murphy, years later than lumbosacral radiculopathy. It is a neurological condition caused by dysfunction in the cervical spinal nerves, nerve roots, or both. This compression occurs as a result of disc herniation, spondylosis, trauma, spinal tumors, etc. As the first symptom, it manifests as pain. When pain radiates from the neck to the shoulder and arm and is accompanied by sensory complaints and motor weakness, cervical radiculopathy should be suspected. It is a significant cause of morbidity and disability in both men and women, and it occurs in middle age. As a result, clinicians must quickly diagnose and determine the best treatment method. The majority of the information in the literature on the incidence of cervical radiculopathy is based on the findings of a large population-based study conducted between 1976 and 1990 by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The incidence rate of cervical radiculopathy was reported to be 83.2 per 100,000 per year in this study, which included 561 cases. The primary goals of treatment are to alleviate pain, restore neurological function, and prevent a recurrence. According to the literature, cervical radiculopathy recurs at a rate of 31.7%, and 26% of them go to surgery. Treatment options vary depending on whether the symptoms are acute or chronic and their severity. In the treatment of cervical radiculopathy, either conservative (non-operative) or surgical treatments are used. In patients with chronic neck pain with or without radiculopathy, a cervical epidural steroid injection is one of the most frequently used interventional therapeutic options. Chronic neck pain or radicular pain caused by disc herniation, spinal stenosis, or discogenic pain can also be treated with cervical epidural injections. Cervical stability training is an exercise program that is used to strengthen the cervical spine, relieve pain, and improve functionality. Changes in dynamic scapula stabilization are observed in patients with chronic neck pain. The scapula connects the neck and shoulder, so it plays an important role in stabilizing the neck and shoulder complex. Because of the interaction between the neck and the scapula, scapular stability becomes more important in these patients.
Periodontitis is a multifactorial chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the destruction of the tissues supporting the tooth. The incidence and rate of progression of periodontal destruction involves a complex interaction between periodontopathic bacteria and immune system cells. The complex cytokine network that mediates the immune response includes pro-inflammatory cytokines, anti-inflammatory cytokines, and specific cytokine receptors. Cytokines act as messengers to initiate, mediate, and control immune and inflammatory responses. It is known that the interaction of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines plays a very important role in the progression of periodontitis . The immune response to infection is regulated by the balance between T helper (Th)1 and Th2-type cytokines. Since Th1, Th2, and monocyte-derived cytokines in gingival tissues and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) play a role in periodontal inflammation, even a minimal imbalance in cytokine production may affect the induction of bone and collagen resorption in periodontal disease. For this reason, cytokines in inflamed periodontal tissues, which are the focus of many studies, are of great importance in the progression of periodontal disease. In this study, our aim is to evaluate the local cytokine response in relation to the clinical periodontal status by determining the IL-10, IL-12 and IL-18 concentrations in the gingival crevicular fluid of individuals with grade B-C stage III-IV periodontitis according to the 2017 Classification of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases and Conditions. In this way, besides clinical and radiographic determinations in the diagnosis of periodontal disease, IL-10, IL-12 and IL-18 are measured to evaluate whether these markers have an effect on the diagnosis of the disease.

The disease process starts with periodontopathogens in dental plaque, and tissue destruction is mainly caused by the immune response of the host to the etiological microorganism and cytokine profile through various inflammatory cytokines. The cytokine response, which plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease, determines the progression of the disease. Evaluation of the effects of IL-6, IL-17 and IL-35 levels in the gingival crevicular fluid on periodontal disease together with clinical parameters has been the basis of our study. This study consists of individuals with grad B-C stage III-IV periodontitis and healthy individuals, which is the subtitle of Periodontal and Periimplant Diseases and Conditions in the classification renewed in 2017. It is aimed to examine the changes and possible correlations in IL-6, IL-17, IL-35 levels as a result of biochemical examination of the samples taken from the gingival crevicular fluid. In our study, according to the new classification of 2017, gingival crevicular fluid samples collected from individuals with grade B-C stage III-IV periodontal disease and healthy individuals under appropriate conditions and techniques were measured for IL-6, IL-17 and IL-35 by enzymatic immunosorbent test (ELISA). It aims to investigate the negative/positive correlations and compare the increases-decreases.
Stroke is a disease that causes sudden focal neurologic function loss lasting longer than 24 hours due to infarction or hemorrhage in relevant part of the central nervous system. Stroke causes a variety of physiological and psychological symptoms. These symptoms can negatively affect physical activity level and fatigue. Spinal stabilization exercises based on the basic principles of motor learning improves the coordination and endurance of the body muscles by increasing kinesthetic awareness, so this exercise approach can be used to strengthen body stability. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of telerehabilitation based spinal stabilization exercises on physical activity level and fatigue in community dwelling stroke patients.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a progressive inherited disease that affects the muscles and causes functional limitations to varying degrees. It is vital to start physiotherapy follow-ups immediately after diagnosis. Patients with DMD are among the most vulnerable groups who have problems in accessing physiotherapy services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of the telerehabilitation program developed to protect the physical health of patients with DMD and not to interrupt their follow-up.

Studies show that pregnant women reduce their physical activity levels during pregnancy. The pandemic process causes the physical activities of pregnant women to decrease even more and causes a number of problems. This study aims to reveal effect of online Pilates exercises with a physiotherapist during the pandemic conducted on depression, anxiety and fear of childbirth levels of pregnant women. A total of 50 volunteer pregnant women, 26 online pilates group (OPG) and 24 control group (CG), who met the inclusion criteria of the study, were included in our study randomly. The OPG was given online Pilates exercises by the physiotherapist in groups 2 days a week for 8 weeks, 1 h a day. The CG was given a home program consisting of relaxation and breathing exercises. Depression levels; with the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale, anxiety; with the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, fear of childbirth; with the Wijma Birth Expectation/Experience Scale version B were evaluated before and after the study by using the online questionnaire form filling method. As a result of the online pilates training, there was an improvement in the all test scores (p<0.05), while no change was observed in the control group (p>0.05). In the light of these results, 8-week online pilates training applied to gain a healthy habit during the pandemic process and increase physical activity levels of the pregnant women has been concluded to be effective in reducing the levels of depression, anxiety and fear of childbirth.
