The Foot Posture and Falling Risk in Older People

This research will be conducted to examine the relationship between the foot postures and fall risks of elderly individuals living in nursing homes, to identify the factors that most affect the risk of falling, and to inform healthcare professionals working on this subject. Factors that may increase the risk of falling will be determined from the biomechanical changes that occur in the foot with age. In addition, the results we obtain will contribute to the database to be created in the future to identify factors affecting the risk of falling.

Does Edema Affect the Adjustment of TENS Amplitude

The goal of this pre-post clinical trial is to compare the amplitude settings of three different frequency TENS modes (Conventional TENS, LF TENS, HF TENS) in patients who had undergone total knee arthroplasty, both with the preoperative state and with the contralateral knee. The main question it aims to answer is: Can the electrical resistance of edematous tissue be affected and change the TENS amplitude setting? Participants will be evaluated before and after surgery. For each TENS modulation the amplitude at which tingling is felt, the current is clearly felt, and is maximum tolerated and/or muscle contraction occurred, will be documented. TENS amplitudes for all three TENS modes will be compared, both with the preoperative state and with the contralateral knee.

Current treatments for pain in MS patients include the use of non-pharmacological interventions such as electrotherapy and exercise, as well as pharmacological treatments. Neurodynamic mobilization exercises are an intervention that aims to restore homeostasis in and around the nervous system by activating the nervous system itself or the structures surrounding the nervous system. Neurodynamic mobilization facilitates movement between neural structures and their environment through manual techniques and exercise. Human and animal studies reveal that neurodynamic mobilization reduces intraneural edema, improves intraneural fluid distribution, reduces thermal and mechanical hyperalgesia, and reverses increased immune responses following a nerve injury.

BACKGROUND: Acute right lower quadrant pain is a common symptom in emergency departments. The most common etiology is thought to be acute appendicitis. Other etiologies may be overlooked. Acute right colon diverticulitis is one of them. It is usually seen in male and young patients. It is more common in Asian population and rare in Western countries. Ultrasonography (USG) and computed tomography (CT) are used for radiologic diagnosis. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnosis, treatment and surgical management of right colon diverticulitis.

The Effect of Staple Line Reinforcement Procedures on Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in Sleeve Gastrectomy

Obesity is a significant public health problem. The only long-term effective treatment method is surgery. The most common surgical procedure is laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). However, after LSG, complications such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), insufficient weight loss, stenosis in the remnant stomach, and bleeding or leakage in the staple line (SL) may be encountered. The most severe complications are leakage and bleeding in sleeve gastrectomy, which can lead to many morbidities and mortality. Strengthening the staple line is an important option to prevent these complications. Methods such as fibrin adhesives, bioabsorbable patches and stitching of the stapler line are used to strengthen the stapler line. Nausea and vomiting, which occur in the postoperative period in 40% of patients who have undergone abdominal surgery and constitute a serious problem, are detected at an even higher rate in patients who have undergone bariatric surgery. Additionally, strengthening the staple line with various methods may increase the incidence of nausea and vomiting after LSG. Although there are studies in the literature investigating whether strengthening the staple line with buttress material or suture in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy affects the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting, there is no study investigating the effect of strengthening the staple line with fibrin glue on the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting. This prospective study aims to reveal whether there is a difference between strengthening the staple line with fibrin glue or suture in LSG regarding the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting and its effects on quality of life.

The Effect Pomegranate Seed Oil Prevention and Progression Pressure Ulcers in Intensive Care Patients

Pressure sores are an important health problem that can be seen at any age and in any environment where care is provided, especially in intensive care units. It is a problem that can frequently develop, especially in people who are bedridden for long periods of time and who have acute or chronic diseases. While the incidence of pressure ulcers in hospitals is 10-23%, this rate has been reported to be 8.1%-41% in intensive care units. In Turkey, the incidence of pressure ulcers in patients receiving mechanical ventilation treatment for at least 24 hours was found to be 17% and 15.5% in intensive care units. It is an important problem that requires long-term care and treatment after the development of a pressure sore, prolongs the duration of hospitalization, has high treatment and care costs, and increases morbidity. In a systematic review, it was stated that pressure ulcer treatment, in addition to normal treatment, increased the per capita cost of care between € 2.65 and € 87.57 per day.The care provided due to developing pressure sores increases the burden on healthcare professionals and makes it difficult to achieve the desired quality of care.It also brings an extra financial burden to care institutions.Studies have found that pressure ulcer development increases the cost of nursing care. Pressure sores also cause pain, infection, etc. in patients. It leads to the development of serious problems, deterioration in comfort and a significant decrease in the quality of life. The use of complementary medicines, including medicinal plants, has long been recommended in this regard. The latest approaches in medicine recommend its use in the prevention and treatment of diseases due to its fewer side effects, and it is welcomed by patients. Assessment and care of the skin is important in preventing pressure sores. Pomegranate seed oil is very rich in conjugated fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic fatty acids). Although the effectiveness of pomegranate seed oil has been investigated in many subjects, there is no study examining its effectiveness in preventing and healing wound development. The aim of this study is to determine the application of topical pomegranate seed oil. To examine its effect on pressure sore development and progression. To determine the effect of topical pomegranate seed application on the prevention and progression of pressure sores. It will be conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study.
