Effects of Deep Sensory Assisted Rehabilitation on Gait and Balance in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis

The effect of physical therapy and rehabilitation on improving the gait and balance disorders of patients has been proven. FTR applications in MS patients have become routine in developed countries. However, due to the high patient density in our country, FTR cannot be performed at the rate we want due to different reasons such as the inability to separate areas special for MS patients, the lack of special FTR applications for MS patients, and the inability to perform regular FTR follow-ups. Even if FTR is recommended and performed, our patients think that FTR is not very effective due to the above reasons and they do not continue. A team of neurology, physical therapy specialists, and physiotherapists was formed, in-service training was completed and a special rehabilitation program for MS patients was created. First of all, we will apply routine classical FTR to our patients. Sensory and deep sensory disorders, which are more common and severe, especially in the lower extremities, also negatively affect gait and balance. A rehabilitation program was created by adding exercises to improve sensation and deep sense, along with muscle strengthening. The results of the 1st and 21st sessions of the patients in the two groups who underwent classical rehabilitation and deep sensory-assisted rehabilitation will be compared. It was planned to evaluate the gait and balance parameters of the patients as numerical data with clinical scales and the C mill device we used in walking and balance exercises.

Efficacy of Paragastric Neural Block Procedure on Postoperative Pain in Patients Who Underwent Sleeve Gastrectomy

Surgical treatment is the most effective way to achieve effective and sustainable weight loss in patients with obesity and to improve the comorbidities caused by it. Although minimally invasive bariatric surgical procedures are applied today, postoperative pain is one of the most basic problems. Opioid-derived drugs used for pain control cause respiratory depression and constipation. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols recommend reducing opioid use after bariatric surgery to help patients have a healthier postoperative period. Different methods such as transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block and erector spinae plane (ESP) block are used to reduce the postoperative opioid dose and for effective pain control. While these methods are effective in controlling somatic pain, they have no effect on visceral pain. It has been shown that patients' pain and opioid consumption decrease especially after celiac plexus block. Vagal and sympathetic afferent stimuli from the gastrointestinal tract, on the other hand, stimulate the vomiting center and cause nausea and vomiting. Paragastric neural block is a new method performed by injecting local anesthetic into the posterosuperior paragastric area in the area covering the left gastric artery by revealing the esophagogastric junction, proximal stomach, middle of the stomach, distal antrum, hepatoduodenal ligament and stomach posterior along the border of the lesser omentum. In this way, it is aimed to prevent both visceral pain and the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. In our study, the investigators aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of paragastric nerve block applied during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy by comparing it with the control group.

American football is a high-contact sport, also known as a collision sport. American football players are exposed to various magnitudes and frequencies of head impacts throughout the season. Accordingly, during the American football season, there is an increase in biomarkers that may be associated with brain damage and the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases later in life. In addition, oxidative stress and inflammation can also increase in athletes during the American football season. This study was planned with the thought that the MIND diet, which is beneficial for brain health with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, may have positive effects on oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers in American football players. The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the effects of the MIND diet on oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers in American football players. The main question it aims to answer are: • [Question] Does the MIND diet lowers or reduce the levels of oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers in American football players? Participants will be randomized into 2 groups MIND diet and control group. The current diet of the players in the control group will not be interfered with during the competition period, but the current nutrition of the players in the MIND diet group will be adapted to the MIND diet according to the food groups in the MIND diet components and their consumption frequencies. The players in the MIND diet group will be asked to include the food groups in the MIND diet in their diet in accordance with their consumption frequency. Researchers will compare the MIND diet and control groups to see if the MIND diet improves oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers.

In the light of technological developments, learner-centered methods have begun to replace traditional teaching methods. Simulation applications are increasing in order to ensure patient safety and improve the quality of care in the training of nurses. Virtual reality, which is one of the simulation applications, is defined as an interactive, fun and virtual environment with three-dimensional visual feedback consisting of different sensory stimuli, where computer software and hardware are used together. When the studies on virtual reality, which is seen as a treatment, care and education tool in health care services, are examined; It is seen that virtual reality is mostly used in the teaching of some basic skills and in the education of nursing/medical students. From this point of view, in this project, which was submitted to the proposal, it was aimed to develop a virtual reality software for the care management of the intensive care patient and to investigate the effect of this software on the new intensive care nurses. Nurses to be included in the study will be randomly assigned to the control (n=34) and study groups (n=34). The research will be carried out in the following steps: 1) According to Kolcaba's Comfort Theory, the patient case scenario including the care management of the intensive care patient will be prepared and transferred to the virtual reality software, 2) The nurses in both groups will be given theoretical training on the care management of the intensive care patients, 3) The nurses forming the control group will be given theoretical training. A routine orientation training program will be given, and virtual reality glasses will be applied to the study group 4) "Knowledge Level Questionnaire", "Clinical Practice Skill Observation Form", "Problem Solving" before the theoretical training, 1 week after the application and in the first month of the application for both groups. Inventory", "Clinical Decision Making Scale in Nursing", "State Anxiety Inventory" and "Satisfaction Level Questionnaire" will be applied. With the software planned to be developed within the scope of the project, it is predicted that patient comfort and quality of life in intensive care will increase by providing rapid orientation to the clinic of the new intensive care nurses and increasing their clinical practice, problem solving and clinical decision making skills.

There are very few studies on the effect of core stabilization exercises on balance, posture and trunk muscle endurance in healthy sedentary individuals in literature. The goal of the study is to investigate the effects of core stabilization exercises on balance, trunk muscle endurance and posture in healthy sedentary individuals. According to the results of International Physical Activity Questionnaire, the researcher includes sedentary individuals over the age of 18 in the study. The participants are divided into two groups as control (n=21) and exercise (n=21) groups. The outcome measures are The Stabilizer Pressure Biofeedback Unit, New York Posture Assesment Scale, Korebalance Balance System, trunk muscle endurance tests. Intervention includes core stabilization exercises 3 times a week and walking twice a week for 6 weeks. There is no treatment or intervention for the control group. The researcher evaluates both groups at the beginning and 6 weeks after the intervention.

This situation makes it inevitable to use different teaching methods in nursing education, especially in the acquisition and development of psychomotor skills. Games, which are a type of virtual simulation methods; It is defined as a pedagogical tool that offers the student the widest possible learning opportunity, interesting, interactive media, and a teaching beyond entertainment. It is very important to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in the management of intramuscular drug administration, which will constitute the majority of postgraduate applications of nursing students, by using today's technologies during their student life. Another factor that is effective in psychomotor skill learning is; students' anxiety level. Nursing students may experience anxiety while using the new technique, which negatively affects the learning process of the student. One of the reasons for the anxiety experienced by the students is that they have not reached enough professional knowledge and skills. It is observed that this level of anxiety increases especially in psychomotor skills. In the exams conducted for the evaluation of laboratory practices in nursing education, the student demonstrates the skills learned during the term. The level of anxiety he feels during this practice may also affect his performance. The general result of studies examining the relationship between test anxiety and academic performance is that there is a negative relationship between test anxiety and academic success. For this reason, it is very important to control students' anxiety. Although the level of state anxiety increases from time to time, especially in the trainings carried out with simulation, it is one of the training methods that increases the self-confidence of the students by reducing their anxiety in the future.
