Reliability and Validity of the Glittre Activities of Daily Living Test in Multiple Sclerosis Patients

Patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) have reduced functional capacity due to clinical symptoms of the disease, resulting in decreased participation in daily living activities and reduced quality of life. Evaluation of functional capacity and activities of daily living is very important in order to determine appropriate rehabilitation programs and increase the participation of patients in daily life activities. However, although there are many scales evaluating functional capacity and activities of daily living in people with disabilities, there is no specific assessment scale specific to MS patients. Therefore, this study was planned to investigate whether the Glittre Daily Living Activities (ADL) Test, which was developed to measure functional capacity in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is a valid and reliable measurement tool in MS patients. For this purpose, a total of 51 participants (25 MS patients and 26 healthy participants) evaluated with Glittre ADL Test. The relationship between Glittre ADL Test and 6-minute walk test, Notthingham Extended Daily Living Activities Index, Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life Scale, Fatigue Severity Scale, Balance Assessment Systems Test (MiniBEST Test), Extended Disability Status Scale and 5-repetition sit-to-stand test evaluated with Pearson or Spearman correlation coefficient. For the known group validity, the difference between the patient and control groups compared with the test of the difference between the two means. For reliability, test retest performed. Reliability evaluated with the intraclass correlation coefficient. Hypothesis 1: Glittre ADL Test results in MS patients and healthy subjects are different. Hypothesis 2: Glittre ADL Test is reliable in MS patients. Hypothesis 3: Glittre ADL Test is valid for evaluating functional exercise capacity in MS patients.

The Relationship Between Kinesiophobia, Physical Activity Level and Quality of Life in Asthma Patients

Asthma is a heterogeneous disease characterized by chronic airway inflammation characterized by time-varying respiratory symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and cough, with limitation of expiratory airflow. These variations are often triggered by exercise, exposure to allergens or an irritation, weather changes or viral respiratory diseases (Karakış, 2018). Increased respiratory distress decreases the patient's activity, decreases the condition and makes the individual dependent in daily life. In the studies conducted in asthma patients, the cases stated that they perceived their illness as an obstacle against physical activity and thus they were pushed to immobility (Kırtay & Oğuz, 2011). In the literature, no study on the variable of kinesiophobia in asthma was found. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between kinesiophobia and physical activity level and quality of life in asthma patients.

Investigation of Activation of Latissimus Dorsi Muscle Segments During Functional Reach Activity in Chronic Stroke Patients

Latissimus Dorsi (LD); Medial sacrum, lumbar vertebrae and lower thoracic vertebrae 10-12 lateral to the spinous processus. It is a fan-like wide muscle that connects to the inferior angle of the scapula and ribs, adheres to the anterior surface of the proximal humerus and continues with aponeurosis of the contralateral Gluteus Maximus below. The activation of the LD muscle during the functional reach activity, which we use most frequently in daily living activities, affects the upper extremity and trunk movements. Therefore it is important muscle that affects the quality of movement. The study include individuals with stroke that diagnosed by the neurologist and include healthy subjects. During sitting activity, they will be required to reach three different distances in the sagittal and scapular plane: arm length, 125% of the arm length and end point where it can reach the modified functional reach test. During the activity, electromyography (EMG) activation of latissimus dorsi, anterior deltoid and erector spina muscles will be examined with electromyographic device. Hypothesis originating from the investigation: H1: Latissimus dorsi muscle segments show different activation during functional reach activity. H2: Activation of latissimus dorsi muscle segments is affected by reaching direction during functional reach activity. H3: Activation of latissimus dorsi muscle segments is affected by reaching distance during functional reach activity.
