Safety and Efficacy of ActiGraft Pro Compared to Standard of Care in DFUs

- The study is a multi-center, prospective, randomized, controlled, single blinded clinical study consisting of 150 subjects from up to 20 centers. - The subjects are randomized to receive 1 of 2 treatments, either with ActiGraft and standard of care (SOC) or with SOC alone. - The target ulcers are evaluated weekly by the investigator. The subject is treated once a week, to receive weekly applications of the ActiGraft + SOC or SOC until for up to 12 weeks or until the study ulcer has completely healed (i.e., 100% closure as assessed by the Investigator and blinded assessor and confirmed 2 weeks later at the healing confirmation visit (HCV). One additional visit per week is optional for both arms, for the purpose of changing only (1) the secondary dressing in the ActiGraft arm or (2) change the standard of care dressing in the control arm. - Immediately after the study ulcer is confirmed as completely healed, subjects will enter the 12-week Follow-up Phase. During the Follow-Up phase, subjects will be evaluated twice during the first month and then monthly for two additional visits every 4 weeks until the completion of the 12-week Follow-up Phase.

Inflammatory Markers in Hysterectomies

This retrospective study was conducted in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic at Derince Training and Research Hospital. The study group was identified as patients who underwent hysterectomy between 2018 and 2019. Our hospital is a 50-bed tertiary reference center where approximately 3,500 births per year occur, and about 500 gynecological-oncological surgeries are performed annually. The records of patients who underwent LH and AH were reviewed retrospectively. Preoperative and postoperative blood values in the first 24 hours after surgery were compared: hematocrit (HCT), hemoglobin (HB), WBC, PLR, and NLR values were compared as well as the demographic characteristics of the patients who underwent these procedures. In addition, to evaluate the effect of ovaries on the inflammatory markers, the patients were divided into two groups: oophorectomy and non-oophorectomy. In our clinic, the decision to perform a hysterectomy is made by the weekly gynecology council. The type of surgery is determined according to the clinical condition of the patient, the gynecological examination, and the patient's request. In general, open surgery is preferred in patients with giant fibroids, many previous surgeries, and immobile uteri. Conditions such as dysfunctional uterine bleeding, cervical intraepithelial neoplasms, and uterine descensus indicate the need for LH. In cases where there is no clinical suspicion, oophorectomy is performed according to the patients' wishes. In benign cases, the preferred type of hysterectomy is type 1 extra facial hysterectomy. In LH, the procedure is performed as follows: The uterine manipulator is inserted vaginally. First, a Veress needle and then a trocar are entered through the umbilicus. The abdomen is insufflated with carbon dioxide, and the appropriate number of ports is placed. Uterine ligaments and vessels are cut by using bipolar energy. The uterus is removed through the vagina, and the vaginal cuff is sutured laparoscopically. Patients with chronic diseases (e.g., hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and rheumatologic, nephrological, and hematological diseases), the presence of active infection, corticosteroid use, acetylsalicylic acid, and anticoagulant use were not included in the study. Bladder and bowel injuries, blood transfusion requirements, wound infection and hematoma, postoperative respiratory system complications (e.g., atelectasis) were evaluated as surgical complications.

The Relationship Between Kinesiophobia, Physical Activity, Balance and Fear of Fall in MS Patients

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, inflammatory, demyelinating and neurodegenerative disease of the central nervous system (CNS). MS usually progresses with attacks, sequelae after attacks because it severely restricts the quality of life in patients and leads to progressive disability (Frohman et al., 2006). Balance and coordination problems, decreasing of physical activity level and fall disorders are observed in patients with MS (Confavreux et al., 2014). When the literature was examined, a relationship was found between kinesiophobia, quality of life, physical activity level and pain in stroke patients. Physical activity level, balance, fear of falling and kinesiophobia which are frequently seen in patients with MS have not been studied. In this study, the relationship between kinesiophobia, physical activity, balance and fear of fall in MS patients will be investigated.

Investigation of Acute Effects of Local Vibration and Whole-Body Vibration Applications

This study was designed as a single-blind, randomized and cross-over study to investigate and compare the acute effects of local vibration (LV) and whole-body vibration (WBV) applications on postural control in adult patients with ataxia. The study will be included in patients aged 18-50 years, including ataxia diagnosed by the neurologist and able to walk independently. Patients with pregnancy status, epilepsy, spasticity, implant / endoprosthesis / pacemaker, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, history of fracture in the last 6 months and other neurological diseases other than ataxia will not be included in the study. Between the applications, a washout period of one week will be given to each patient to apply both local and whole body vibrations. The order of application will be decided by the coin toss randomization method. Descriptive evaluations of the patients will be done with Mini-BESTest and Trunk Impairment Scale. Stability limits and postural sways (Bertec Balance Check ScreenerTM), gait time - distance characteristics (GAITRite), functional mobility skills (Timed Up and Go Test), and static balances (One Leg Stance Test) before, 1 minute after the application and 60 minutes after the application.
