Study Of Prevention of Chemo-Induced Nausea and Vomiting Caused By Moderately Emetogenic Chemotherapy

This study was designed to assess the safety and efficacy of different dosages and administration schedules of an investigational agent administered over 3 days when added to standard therapy used in the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in cancer patients. Subjects will be asked to complete daily diaries while on study medication. In addition subjects will be required to return to the investigational site several times during the course of the study for follow up safety assessments which may include blood samples for hematology and chemistry evaluations as well as physical exams. A final assessment will be preformed on study Day 20-30 at which time the subject will complete the study.

This study is a test of the safety and effectiveness of two drugs, one for diabetes and one for hypertension, in keeping patients with high lab values of glucose from progressing to frank diabetes and developing cardiovascular complications. People in this study cannot have frank diabetes but are considered "borderline" based on blood tests. People in the study take none, one or both of the drugs and do not know which one(s) they are taking.

The primary objectives of the ORIGIN study were: - To determine whether insulin glargine-mediated normoglycemia can reduce cardiovascular morbidity and/or mortality in people at high risk for vascular disease with either Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG), Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) or early type 2 diabetes; - To determine whether omega-3 fatty acids can reduce cardiovascular mortality in people with IFG, IGT or early type 2 diabetes. The secondary objectives of the insulin glargine study were to determine if insulin glargine-mediated normoglycemia can reduce: - total mortality (all causes); - the risk of diabetic microvascular outcomes; - the rate of progression of IGT or IFG to type 2 diabetes.

A Study of Xeloda (Capecitabine) in Patients With Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

This 2 arm study will assess the efficacy and safety of intermittent oral Xeloda, or iv fluorouracil/leucovorin, in combination with intravenous Eloxatin (oxaliplatin) in patients previously treated for metastatic colorectal cancer. Patients will be randomized to receive either 1)XELOX (Xeloda 1000mg/m2 po bid on days 1-15 + oxaliplatin) in 3 week cycles or 2) FOLFOX-4 (oxaliplatin + leucovorin + 5-FU in 2 week cycles. The anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.

The primary objective of this study is efficacy. The primary efficacy endpoint of this study is a comparison of the overall survival of subjects treated with CCI-779 [Temsirolimus], administered intravenously [IV] once weekly and the combination of CCI-779, administered IV once weekly with Interferon Alfa [IFN alfa] subcutaneously [SC] three times per week [TIW], compared with the overall survival of subjects treated with IFN alfa (SC TIW) alone, in poor-prognosis subjects with advanced RCC.
