Remote Investigation and Assessment of Vital Signs

The vital signs (pulse, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and body temperature) are critical in assessing the severity and prognosis of infections. The devices used today for measuring the vital signs have to be in physical contact with the patients. There is an apparent risk of transferring infections from one patient to the next (or to healthcare professionals). Accurately obtaining vital signs is also important when managing other categories of patients where it may be relevant to obtain some of the vital signs such as pulse and blood pressure. This project aims to evaluate a new camera-based system for contactless measurement of vital signs.

ZEUS - A Research Study to Look at How Ziltivekimab Works Compared to Placebo in People With Cardiovascular Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease and Inflammation

This study is conducted to see if ziltivekimab reduces the risk of having cardiovascular events (for example heart attack and stroke) in people with cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and inflammation. Participants will either get ziltivekimab (active medicine) or placebo (a dummy medicine which has no effect on the body). This is known as the study medicine. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants chance of getting ziltivekimab or placebo is the same. Ziltivekimab is not yet approved in any country or region in the world. It is a new medicine doctors cannot prescribe. Participants will get the study medicine in a pre filled syringe. Participants will need to use the pre filled syringe to inject the study medicine into a skinfold once-monthly. The study is expected to last for up to 4 years. Participants will have up to 20 clinic visits. Participants will have blood and urine samples taken at most of the clinic visits. Participants will have their heart examined using sound waves (echocardiography) and electrodes (electrocardiogram). Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to get pregnant during the study period.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether the BCMA-CD3 bispecific antibody elranatamab, alone and/or in combination with the anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody, daratumumab, can provide more benefit to people with multiple myeloma compared to a combination therapy including daratumumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone. People with multiple myeloma who have received previous treatment including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor will be enrolled in the study. Part 1 of the study will assess the safety and activity of different doses of elranatamab in combination with daratumumab. People participating in Part 2 of the study will be randomly assigned to receive either elranatamab alone, elranatamab plus daratumumab, or daratumumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone. Part 2 will compare the safety and activity of (1) elranatamab alone compared to daratumumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone, and (2) elranatamab plus daratumumab compared to daratumumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone. Participants in all parts of the study will receive study treatment until their disease progresses, they experience unacceptable side effects, or they choose to no longer participate in the study.

The Family Talk Intervention When a Parent With Dependent Children or a Child is Severely Ill

The overall aim of this study is to evaluate the effects and the implementation process of the Family Talk Intervention (FTI) in clinical practice when a child or a parent of dependent children has a life-threatening/life-limiting illness (cancer, neurological diseases, etc.). During 2021, FTI will be implemented in several different care contexts including a children's hospital and a university hospital in Sweden. Social workers will be educated in using the FTI in their clinical work. This study has a pre-post effectiveness-implementation hybrid design using mixed method. Data collection will be made using web-based questionnaires and interviews with families and social workers, and observations will be performed throughout the study.

Evaluation of VagiVitalAC for Treatment of Candida Vulvovaginitis

Candidiasis is an infection caused by a yeast (a type of fungus) called Candida. Candidiasis in the vagina is commonly called a "vaginal yeast infection." Another names for this infection is "vaginal candidiasis". The symptoms of vaginal candidiasis include: Vaginal itching or soreness, Pain during sexual intercourse, Pain or discomfort when urinating and Abnormal vaginal discharge. VagiVitalAC is a modified version of the existing gel VagiVital, formulated to act as a treatment for fungal infections. This clinical investigation is a two-part study consisting of a pilot part followed by a randomized part. The aim of the pilot part is to evaluate if VagiVitalAC is able to cure the vulvovaginal candidiasis in at least 70% of the patients after 7 days treatment. If the proportion of cured patients is at least 70 %, the next part, the randomized part, will be performed. In the randomized part, the treatment efficacy and safety of VagiVitalAC on candida vulvovaginitis will be evaluated by comparing a treatment group with a control group receiving no treatment.

eVISualisation of Physical Activity and Pain (eVIS) for Patients With Chronic Pain

Introduction: Living with chronic pain often involves negative consequences. Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Programs (IPRPs), a subset of Interdisciplinary Treatment (IDT) includes physical activity and exercise and is considered superior to single-treatment measures in patients with chronic pain. However, effects emerge sub-optimal and as many as 30% of patients deteriorate in some outcomes. A novel intervention, eVISualisation (eVIS) of physical activity and pain, has been systematically developed to facilitate patients in reaching and maintaining recommended individualized physical activity levels. The aim is to transparently report on methodology, outcome assessments, and processes for a registry-based randomized controlled trial (R-RCT) initiated as an internal pilot study. Methods and analysis: The R-RCT will recruit approximately 400 patients with chronic pain who are registered at primary and specialized IPRP units (n=15) in Sweden. Participants will be randomly allocated to either an IPRP + eVIS or the control group that will receive only IPRP treatment. eVIS entails objectively measured physical activity (steps) and patient-reported outcomes (pain intensity, affect on daily activities, pharmaceutical consumption) collected and visualized in the web application PATRON. Data from an initial 30 participants completing the study period (6 months) will be included in a pilot study designed to evaluate recruitment- and randomization processes, standardized effect size, sample size, characteristics of outcomes, follow-up rates of the R-RCT. Outcome variables will be extracted from PATRON and from six national registries. Multivariate statistics and repeated measures analyses will be performed. Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) and Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) will be calculated for cost effectiveness evaluation. Ethics/dissemination: The Swedish Ethics Review Board granted approval (Dnr 2021/02109). Results will be disseminated through peer-review journals.

Surgical Treatments for Postamputation Pain

This is a double-blind randomised controlled trial (RCT) which compares the effectiveness of three surgical techniques for alleviating residual limb pain (RLP), neuroma pain and phantom limb pain (PLP). The three surgical treatments are Targeted Muscles Reinnervation (TMR), Regenerative Peripheral Nerve Interface (RPNI), and an active control (neuroma excision and muscle burying). Patients will be follow-up for 4 years.
