Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) is a rare, severely disabling disease characterized by the presence of bone in soft tissue where bone normally does not exist, known as Heterotopic Ossification (HO). It is often associated with painful, recurrent episodes of soft tissue swelling (flare-ups) that lead to abnormal stiffening and immobility (ankyloses) of major joints with cumulative and irreversible loss of movement and disability. This study will evaluate the efficacy of 2 dosing regimens of IPN60130 in inhibiting new HO volume compared with placebo (a dummy treatment) in adult and paediatric participants with FOP. It will be assessed by a scan (provides internal images of the body) called low dose Whole Body Computed Tomography (WBCT), excluding head. Adults and participants 5 years of age or older are also eligible for a sub study to evaluate HO lesions assessed by another type of scan, Fluorine-18-labelled natrium fluoride Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography ([18F]NaF PET-CT ).

Implementation of Teledermoscopy and Artificial Intelligence

The study has 2 parts. Part 1 will investigate the effects of introducing teledermoscopy in clinical practice, more specifically the change in referral patterns, the risk of undetected skin cancers and the effect on diagnostic accuracy in general practitioners. Part 2 will investigate how to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) within teledermocsopy. In this study the investigators will measure the diagnostic accuracy of teledermoscopic assessors that had access to the results of artificial intelligence algorithm compared to those who did not. Data will be collcted through teledermoscopic referrals, patient records, national registries and questionnairs.

HELicobacter Pylori Screening to Prevent Gastrointestinal Bleeding in MI Patients

Background: Potent antithrombotic therapy has improved prognosis for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) significantly, however, at a price of increased bleeding risk. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection commonly causes upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). If systematic screening for H. pylori and subsequent eradication therapy significantly reduces the risk of UGIB and improves outcomes is unknown. Study design: A cluster randomized, cross-over, registry-based clinical trial using nationwide Swedish registries for patient enrollment and data collection. Population: Patients hospitalized for MI at up to 40 hospitals across Sweden. Regional PCI networks comprise 18 clusters. Clusters will be randomized to H. pylori screening or no screening for 1 year after which cross-over to the opposite strategy for 1 year is followed by 1-year follow-up. Intervention: All MI patients will be routinely screened for H. pylori. Patients diagnosed with active H. pylori infection will receive eradication therapy. All follow-up by data collection from national registries. Controls: Standard clinical practice. Data will be collected from national registries. Outcome: Primary outcome is the incidence of hospitalization for UGIB. Secondary outcomes include mortality (all-cause, cardiovascular), cardiovascular endpoints (rehospitalization for MI, heart failure or stroke), or UGIB requiring blood transfusion.

Effects of Inspiratory Muscle Training After Covid-19 (ReCOV)

Initially, it was suspected that Covid-19 would primarily affect the airways, but several studies have now shown that it is a disease with multisystem manifestations. Covid-19 has the potential to affect physical, cognitive, and psychological functions in multiple ways. It has been clear that a significant proportion of patients with Covid-19 develop long-term symptoms. The term post-acute Covid-19 syndrome (PACS) is now used to describe the wide range of prolonged symptoms following the infection. Patients who have been in hospital for Covid-19 for a long time may need specialized rehabilitation, however, also non-hospitalized patients with mild symptoms may need specific rehabilitation to be able to meet the complex symptoms and problems that may arise. Previous studies on the recovery and rehabilitation after other coronavirus shows the importance to develop tailored interventions so that these patients receive appropriate rehabilitation The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of inspiratory muscle training on adult patients with PACS and decreased respiratory muscle strength. A randomized controlled trial will be used. A total of 90 adult patients with PACS and 80 % or less of predicted value in inspiratory muscle strength (maximal inspiratory pressure) will be eligible for enrollment. Patients will be randomized either to an intervention group or a control group. The intervention will consist of inspiratory muscle training performed twice daily for 8 weeks. This will be combined with an 8-week physical exercise training program. The control group will perform the same physical exercise training according to standard care. All measurements will be performed at baseline and after 8 weeks. Primary outcome is maximal inspiratory pressure. Secondary outcomes are: Maximal expiratory pressure, pulmonary function, physical capacity, physical activity, respiratory status and symptoms, health-related quality of life, work ability, fatigue, self-reported outcome measure of physical function and voice function. Covid-19 has the potential to affect physical, cognitive, and psychological functions in multiple ways and lead to a negative impact on quality of life in the long-term perspective. Therefore, development of a rehabilitation program with specific tailored interventions will be necessary to improve physical and psychological function, as well as health-related quality of life and work ability.
