There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect and safety of NKTR-118 treatment of opioid-induced constipation in patients with non-cancer-related pain, including those patients that have inadequate response to laxative therapy (LIR).
This study hypothesizes that supplementation of omega-3 fatty acids (OM3) can increase physical activity, inhibit rapid gain in body weight and BMI in both sedentary and normally active 8 year old children. The purpose is secondarily to explore patterns of associations between OM3 supplementation, baseline and follow-up levels in all studied parameters. The study also aims to study if basal levels of OM3 are correlated with physical activity and to study if there is an association between basal levels of OM3 and the effect of OM3 supplementation on physical activity. To study if there is an effect of OM3 supplementation on triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels and to study if there are more pronounced effects on children with higher levels. To study if OM3 supplementation, compared with placebo reduce weight increase among children at risk to become overweight. To study if there is an association between effects of OM3 on physical activity, weight and risk markers in blood. To study if there are any gender differences.
The purpose of the study is to compare self-reported health related quality of life after two different operating techniques for low rectal cancer operated by rectal amputation, using a specific and detailed questionnaire. The population has been operated over a 6 year period in one university hospital.
Women with metastatic breast cancer, receiving first line treatment of any kind (chemotherapy, endocrine treatment or treatment with antibodies) will be included in this trial. In connection to treatment, blood samples for determination and enumeration of circulating tumour cells will be collected at different time points. Serum and plasma will be collected and stored for future analysis of RNA and DNA.
Multiple-dose nicotine pharmacokinetics with three oral nicotine replacement products. A study in healthy smokers.
The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) can be useful for people suffering from Hyperacusis. Also, the investigators are interested in investigating this group of patients on psychiatric and somatic comorbidity, personality traits, and startle response to sounds. The investigators will also study the audiological measures commonly used in Sweden to measure hyperacusis, and investigate their validity. The investigators hypothesize that CBT might be helpful for patients suffering from Hyperacusis.
This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 3 study to compare the progression free survival, overall response rate (ORR) and safety of participants treated with lenvatinib 24 mg by continuous once daily oral dosing versus placebo. The study is conducted in 3 phases: a Prerandomization Phase (screening and baseline period), a Randomization Phase (double-blind treatment period), and an Extension Phase (Optional Open Label (OOL) Lenvatinib Treatment Period and a follow-up period).
PH-797804 is an oral ant-inflammatory drug that may reduce the inflammation that is associated with COPD. PH-797804 will be dosed to patients with COPD to evaluate its potential safety and efficacy profile in COPD.
The use of MRI have shown that the incidence of postoperative cerebral lesions due to cerebral embolization is high (1). Nonetheless the extent of postoperative neurological dysfunction is only a fraction of the actual amount of new postoperative changes detected on MRI. Transcranial Doppler (TCD) has shown the occurrence of extensive microembolic signals in intracerebral arteries during open heart procedures (2). The clinical significance of cerebral microemboli is not clear (3-5). The use of serological markers to assess cerebral injury after open cardiac surgery is difficult to interpret. The levels of markers seems to be contaminated from extracerebral sources (6). In order assess the release of markers of neuronal damage after open aortic valve surgery the investigators intend to examine the levels of S-100B, NSE and Tau in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) by comparing the levels preoperative with the levels one day after surgery. Furthermore the investigators will determine the total amount of cerebral microembolic signals during the surgical procedure by means of TCD. The investigators will statistically test if there is any correlation between the increase in cerebrospinal fluid levels of S-100B,NSE and Tau and the cerebral embolic load.
Between 40% and 85% of women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) are overweight or obese and obesity is closely linked to the development of PCOS. Although it is well established that obesity increases the severity of the clinical features of PCOS, data regarding the prevalence of PCOS in obese women and the change in body weight in women with PCOS over time are scares. In a prevalence study it was investigated whether obesity increases the risk of PCOS in the general population and they demonstrated that the prevalence rate of PCOS in underweight, normal-weight, overweight, and obese women were 8.2, 9.8, 9.9, and 9.0%, respectively, similar to that observed in the general population. These results suggest that the risk of PCOS is only minimally increased with obesity. On the other hand, in a Spanish prevalence study among overweight and obese subjects, they demonstrated a 28.3% prevalence of PCOS, which is markedly higher compared with the 5.5% prevalence of PCOS in lean women in Spain. First the investigators aim to estimate the prevalence/probability of PCOS among obese, premenopausal women (between 18 and 50 years) with no symptoms of classic menopausal symptoms in Sweden. Secondly, to elucidate whether women diagnosed with PCOS respond to standard weight reduction regime to the same extent as women without PCOS.
