There are about 1320 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Saudi Arabia. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Upper limb recovery after stroke is unacceptably poor with almost half of stroke survivors likely to regain some functional use. The rehabilitation process for upper extremity for individuals with stroke is of long duration and clinicians face the challenge of identifying a variety of assistive appliances that may be adapted and graded to facilitate this process. One of these appliances that is widely used in rehabilitation is splint and strapping. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effectiveness of this modality in rehabilitation of the upper limb in stroke survivors.
Neck pain is a common medical condition among office workers all over the world. The purpose of this study was to see if physical exercise, such as basic body awareness, neck-specific training exercises, and ergonomic modifications, could help reduce pain, disability, and job stress while also improving quality of life among office workers. Participants will be assigned at random to either an experimental (exercise therapy and ergonomic modification) or a control group (ergonomic modification).
The global rise in the prevalence of obesity paved the way for the increased prevalence of yet another obesity-related complication significant enough to be considered within the roster of major public health threats: non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In this follow-up study, the investigators will attempt to decipher the natural history of hepatic steatosis among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using state-of-the-art methods in a well-characterized Saudi cohort. The investigators aim also to validate existing biomarkers of disease severity and explore the pathogenesis of progressive disease using metabolic profiling technologies. A total of 1000 adult Saudi patients (males and females) with T2DM will be recruited. Those with co-morbidities, including hepatic decompensation, will be excluded. Participants will be followed three times for a total of 10 years/patient (Year 2, Year 5, and Year 10), and measures such as dietary evaluations, anthropometrics, and urine, stool, and blood examinations will be performed. Patients who develop NAFLD will be noted, and patterns/changes in the metabolic profile will be examined. For this specific grant (the first 2 years of the whole project), the investigators will be able to recruit the study cohort, do the baseline anthropometric, imaging, and biochemical measurements, and report the prevalence of NAFLD among patients with T2DM. This information will be the basis of subsequent follow-up and allow for validating potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. This project will be of high importance at the national level since it will create awareness in the local medical community of the current severity status of NAFLD in the kingdom and will be used as a tool to promote public health awareness in the community.
This study is looking at how Mim8 works in people with haemophilia A, who either have inhibitors or do not have inhibitors. Mim8 is a new medicine that will be used to avoid bleeding episodes. Mim8 works by replacing the function of the missing clotting factor VIII (FVIII). When and how often the participants will receive Mim8 in this study depends on the treatment participant receives in the current Mim8 study participant is taking part in. The study will last for up to 5.5 years. The duration of the study depends on when the participant enrolled in this study. The study will end if Mim8 is approved and marketed in participant's country during the study, or the study will end in 2028, whichever comes first. Mim8 will be injected under the skin with a thin needle either once a week, once every two weeks or once a month. Participants will get up to 262 injections; the number of injections depends on how often participants will get injections. While taking part in this study, there are some restrictions about what medicine participants can use. The study doctor will tell the participants more about this. In case the participants experience bleeds, these can be treated with additional haemostatic medicine as agreed with the study doctor. Female participants cannot take part if they are pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to get pregnant during the study period.
The aim of this study is to investigate the role of 0.5 micrograms/kg of dexmedetomidine with 0.2 % ropivacaine in erector spinae block in reducing opioid consumption for patients undergoing lumbar spine surgeries. This study will help in understanding the role of adding dexmdetomidine to ropivacaine in erector spinae block in reducing opioid consumption after lumbar spine surgeries
This is a multicenter, multinational, open-label, one-way cross-over, Phase 3, single-arm study for treatment of hemophilia. The purpose of this study is to measure the frequency of treated bleeding episodes with fitusiran in male adult and adolescent (≥12 years old) participants with hemophilia A or B, with or without inhibitory antibodies to factor VIII or IX who have switched from their prior standard of care treatment. The total study duration will be up to approximately 50 months (200 weeks, 1 study month is equivalent to 4 weeks) and will include: - A screening period up to approximately 60 days, - A standard of care (SOC) period of approximately 6 study months (24 weeks), - A fitusiran treatment period of approximately 36 study months (144 weeks), - An antithrombin (AT) follow-up period of approximately 6 study months (24 weeks) but may be shorter or longer depending on individual participants AT recovery. The frequency for telephone visits will be approximately every 2 weeks. For site visits the frequency will be approximately every 8 weeks during the SOC period and approximately every 4 weeks during the fitusiran treatment period. If applicable and if allowed by local regulation, home and/or remote visits may be conducted during the study
The purpose of the study is to compare the short-term effectiveness of manual therapy with neuromuscular training and conventional physical therapy with neuromuscular training in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
The goal of this pragmatic trial is to test the benefit of using dietary advice and health coaching for physical activities for obese and overweight in lowering body weight and making them lead a healthy lifestyle. The advice will be provided by an expert dietician and health coach at the primary health care. The main questions it aims to answer are: To what extent does the obesity pathway among overweight and obese adults implemented at primary health care Clinics work well in lowering weight? To what extent do the use of dietary advice and coaching for physical activities for obese and overweight implemented at primary health care Clinics work well in achieving a positive lifestyle change? Participants will be asked to participate in the obesity pathway at primary care centres. An expert dietician and health coach will be used to provide a schedule for dietary control and coaching for physical activities. Researchers will compare the change in body weight and lifestyle among overweight and obese adults in the intervention versus the control group at the primary care centre. Adopting a healthy lifestyle, standard weight, healthy dietary habits, plus wise efforts to lowering your body weight is valuable. These need advice from an expert dietician and health coach to prevent the risk of contracting diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
The goal of this split-mouth, head-to-head, randomized controlled trial is to compare the effects of a fixed straight retainer with the V- loop bonded retainer on periodontal health in patients with the requirement of continuous fixed retention for 12-24 months after orthodontic treatment. The main question it aims to answer is whether the V- loop bonded retainer is more effective than fixed straight retainer for periodontal health management. Each patient will receive 2 lower fixed and bonded retainers: (1) a straight wire retainer (SWR) and (2) a looped wire retainer (LWR). Patients will be asked to floss once daily with a thread flosser. Researchers will compare the effects of two types of retainers to see if there is a statistically significant difference.
This study will evaluate whether the 12-week health coaching mobile application (LIVEN) will succeed in enhancing lifestyle behaviors in adults with Type 2 Diabetes compared to typical treatment. The mobile application's viability will be assessed in 2 parts; the first part is testing easiness and friendliness of using Liven by the patient and health coach. The second part is evaluating the suitability of Liven education material for the patients and whether the coaching program results in enhancing lifestyle behaviors and blood sugar levels. the investigators hypothesize that the 12-week online lifestyle-coaching program will be viable, and a full-scale study can proceed.
