NCT ID: NCT05623462 Recruiting - Gait, Unsteady Clinical Trials

Virtual Reality Training for Walking Improvement in the Elderly

Start date: November 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Safe walking needs the older adult to anticipate and respond quickly to external demands and sudden environmental changes. The practice of complex and challenging situations of the usual daily walking is very important to prevent balance loss and falls in the elderly. Researchers reported that subjects trained in a virtual environment with enhanced feedback performed walking skills better than those trained with conventional methods. The C-Mill treadmill is an innovative device that was recently used for the training of impaired gait and balance. C-Mill treadmill uses virtual reality, augmented feedback, and force plate technology that provides the best solution for efficient functional movement therapy. Therefore, this study will evaluate the efficacy of gait training with a virtual reality treadmill on walking abilities in elderly people.

NCT ID: NCT05615454 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Multiple Sclerosis, Relapsing-Remitting

Effect of Bio-electromagnetic Energy Regulation Therapy on Erectile Dysfunction in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis

Start date: February 28, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. There are potential impacts on neurological functions, including sensory and autonomic functions. The Primary observed in males with MS is erectile dysfunction (ED), which substantially impacts the quality of life. There is increasing literature on electromagnetic fields' biological and clinical effects, particularly on ED.

NCT ID: NCT05611801 Recruiting - Hemophilia A Clinical Trials

A Clinical Trial of Study Medicine (Marstacimab) in Pediatric Patients With Hemophilia A or Hemophilia B

BASIS KIDS
Start date: December 9, 2022
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this clinical trial is to learn about the safety and effects of the study medicine (called marstacimab) for the potential treatment of hemophilia in pediatric patients. This study will enroll pediatric participants from ages 1 to 17 years in a sequential manner. The study will open enrollment to adolescent participants aged 12 to 17 years first. Then children aged 6 to 11 years will be permitted to enroll. Lastly, children aged 1 to 5 years will be permitted to enroll. This study will enroll participants who: - have severe Hemophilia A or moderately severe to severe Hemophilia B (with or without inhibitors) - have accurate historical records documenting all factor VIII, factor IX, or bypass agent infusions and hemophilia bleed events for at least 1 year prior to entering the study - if a non-inhibitor patient, must be on a stable routine prophylaxis regimen with factor VIII or factor IX replacement products for at least 12 months prior to study entry - if an inhibitor patient, must be on an on-demand bypass treatment regimen during the 12 months prior to study entry All participants in this study will receive marstacimab to use prophylactically. Marstacimab will be given once a week as a subcutaneous (under the skin) shot. The first dose of marstacimab will be given at the study site by the study site staff. During the 12-month treatment period, weekly doses of marstacimab can be given at home, or if preferred, the doses may be given by the study site staff. To help us determine if the study medicine is safe and effective, we will compare participant experiences when they are taking the study medicine to a historical period when they were not. Researchers want to see if the study medicine works to prevent the bleeding episodes commonly experienced by patients with Hemophilia. Participants will be in this study for about 14 months (approximately 1 month in a Screening period, 12 months receiving treatment, and 1 month in a follow-up period) during which they will visit the study site at least 10 times. If preferred, and if local regulations allow it, 2 of the study visits can be completed at the participant's home instead of at the study site. There will also be 6 scheduled telephone calls approximately every 2 months.

NCT ID: NCT05585099 Recruiting - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Effects of Lower Body Positive Pressure in People With Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: June 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare effects of retro walking exercise versus forward walking using lower body positive pressure on knee pain, physical function, and quadriceps muscle strength in people with mild to moderate knee OA. The secondary aim is to compare effects of retro walking exercise versus forward walking using lower body positive pressure on mobility function, balance, and self-reported health outcomes in people with mild to moderate knee OA. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does retro walking exercise improve knee pain, physical function and Quadriceps muscle strength compared to forward walking exercise using lower body positive pressure in people with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis? - Does retro walking exercise improve Mobility function, balance, and self-reported health outcomes compared to forward walking exercise using lower body positive pressure in people with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis? Participants will walk (retro versus forward) on a lower body positive pressure treadmill. If there is a comparison group: Researchers will compare [retro walking compares to forward walking] to see if [improve in knee pain, physical function, and quadriceps muscles strength]

NCT ID: NCT05543772 Recruiting - Emergencies Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Blood Sampling From a Pre-existed Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Line

Start date: September 1, 2023
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Background: Peripheral Intravenous catheter (PIVC) is a frequently used device for intravascular access. It is usually indicated to administer intravenous fluid and medications. However, the investigators could possibly utilize this line for blood sampling even after using it as a fluid port.

The secondary objectives of the study are to evaluate the efficacy of BIIB059 in reducing SCLE and/or CCLE disease activity by CLA-IGA-R, CLASI-A; to evaluate additional efficacy parameters of BIIB059 in reducing SCLE and/or CCLE disease activity; safety; tolerability; and immunogenicity of BIIB059 [Parts A and B].

NCT ID: NCT05512156 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Dental Caries in Children

Toothbrushing Program in Saudi Arabia "TOPS"

Start date: September 18, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Project summary Introduction: Dental caries is a major oral health problem worldwide and is a particular public health challenge in Saudi Arabia. Dental caries cause pain, infection, and negatively impact quality of life. As part of population oral health improvement efforts in Saudi Arabia, this project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a supervised toothbrushing programme in kindergartens. Aim: The aim of this project is to conduct a trial to assess the effectiveness of a supervised toothbrushing programme in kindergartens in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia . Methods: A cluster randomized controlled trial study will be undertaken in which the effectiveness of the daily supervised toothbrushing programme intervention running for two academic years will be randomly allocated to a sample of kindergartens in Riyadh and compared against treatment as usual which will be an annual oral health awareness visit in the control group of kindergartens over and above community water fluoridation. Effectiveness will be measured and delivered in terms of preventing dental caries in children when compared with children in the treatment as usual control group receiving the same level of community water fluoridation, but not the toothbrushing program intervention. All children in all kindergartens (both intervention and control groups) will have a dental examination (via trained and calibrated dental teams recording dental caries levels via dmft index) at baseline before intervention commences and at two academic years. In addition, questionnaires on behaviours and quality of life. In addition, process monitoring, and cost analysis surveys will be distributed. Research Questions: - Can such a supervised toothbrushing programme in kindergartens be effective at reducing the development of dental caries by 6 years of age? - Can a supervised toothbrushing programme in kindergartens in Saudi Arabia be established and implemented?
