Pre- and Postoperative Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Patients Accepted for Bariatric Surgery

Start date: February 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the potential predictive psychological variables and success after bariatric surgery. The investigators will also investigate the purpose of a pre- and postoperative psychological intervention.

NCT ID: NCT00634920 Completed - Renal Function Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Early Conversion to Everolimus From Cyclosporine in de Novo Renal Transplant Recipients

Start date: March 2008
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study is designed to evaluate if early conversion to everolimus from cyclosporine in de novo renal transplant recipients can improve long-term renal function and slow down the progression of chronic allograft nephropathy

NCT ID: NCT00634387 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Effects of Anthocyans on Cardiovascular and Sympathetic Function

Start date: March 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Anthocyans modify cardiovascular and sympathetic function

NCT ID: NCT00633893 Completed - Venous Thrombosis Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety Study of Apixaban for Extended Treatment of Deep Vein Thrombosis or Pulmonary Embolism

Start date: May 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose is to evaluate the effects of an investigational blood thinner, apixaban, in preventing venous thromboembolic (VTE) recurrence or death in patients who have completed their intended treatment for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE)

NCT ID: NCT00630500 Completed - Clinical trials for Dementia With Lewy Bodies

Efficacy and Safety of Memantine for Parkinson's Disease Dementia (PDD) and Dementia With Lewy Bodies (DLB)

MEMPDD
Start date: February 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

A 24-week placebo-controlled parallel group multicentre trial to study the safety and efficacy of memantine in patients with dementia associated with Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies. It is hypothesized that memantine will be safe and well tolerated, and more effective than placebo.

NCT ID: NCT00629239 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Tolerability/Safety and Efficacy of Inhaled AZD4818 in Patients With Moderate to Severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

TOP
Start date: January 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to see if treatment with AZD4818 for four weeks is tolerable, safe and effective in treating COPD and, if so, how it compares with placebo.

NCT ID: NCT00626964 Active, not recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease in Morbidly Obese Patients

SphCor
Start date: February 2008
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The changes in risks of developing coronary heart disease in patients with morbid obesity after different weight loss interventions have not been extensively studied. The primary objective of this study is to investigate whether an intensive lifestyle intervention program in a tertiary care clinic (Spesialsykehuset for Rehabilitering) is comparable with a 7-week low-energy-diet followed by bariatric surgery in decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease in these patients.

NCT ID: NCT00626548 Terminated - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

A Phase III Trial of ZD4054 (Zibotentan) (Endothelin A Antagonist) in Non-metastatic Hormone Resistant Prostate Cancer

ENTHUSE M0
Start date: January 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Enthuse M0 is a large phase III clinical trial studying the efficacy of ZD4054 (Zibotentan) in hormone resistant prostate cancer (HRPC). This clinical trial will test if the Endothelin A Receptor Antagonist ZD4054 (Zibotentan) can improve progression-free survival and overall survival against a background of existing prostate cancer treatments. ZD4054 (Zibotentan) is a new type of agent, which is thought to slow tumour growth and spread by blocking Endothelin receptor activity. This trial will look at the effects of ZD4054 (Zibotentan) in hormone resistant prostate cancer (HRPC) patients who have had rising PSA after surgical or medical castration but have no evidence of metastases. All patients participating in this clinical trial will receive existing prostate cancer treatments in addition to trial therapy. Half the patients will receive ZD4054 (Zibotentan) , and half the patients will receive placebo in addition to standard prostate cancer therapy. By participating in this trial there is a 50% chance that patients will receive an agent that may slow the progression of the tumour. No patients will be deprived of standard prostate cancer therapy.

NCT ID: NCT00626470 Completed - Femoral Fractures Clinical Trials

Prospective Trial on Trochanteric Femur Fractures Treated With or Without a Trochanter Support Plate

TSP
Start date: December 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Fractures just below the hip often are treated with a so called Gliding Screw and Plate (DHS). Recently a new additional plate called a Trochanter Support Plate (TSP) which attaches to the DHS has become available which is claimed to give extra support to the fracture. In a prospective randomised study we wish to test the hypothesis that the TSP does not give any additional stability to the fracture treated with the DHS.

NCT ID: NCT00623922 Completed - Polyarthritis Clinical Trials

Effect of Patient Education in Rheumatic Diseases

Start date: February 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of patient education (PE) in patients with arthritis. PE has become a task that is dictated by law in Norway, and is increasingly used as an element in the treatment of patients with chronic complaints. Our hypothesis is that - PE delivered as group education, followed by an individual nurse consultation increases the patients wellbeing an ability to cope with the disease.
