NCT ID: NCT01061645 Completed - Carcinoma Clinical Trials

Study of MOC31-PE in Antigen Positive Carcinomas

Start date: September 2010
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Immunotoxins (ITs), monoclonal antibodies conjugated to plant or bacterial toxins, have been extensively investigated for their possible use as anti-tumor agents although not in carcinoma patients with minimal residual disease. Various ITs have been tested in early clinical trials and recent studies demonstrate anti-tumor activity of IT treatment in patients with glioblastoma and different solid tumors. Systemic treatment with immunotoxins directed against carefully selected epithelial cell surface molecules may have a potential for eradicating also dormant metastatic tumor cells, as their action is independent of cell proliferation. The effector moieties of the IT used here, the Pseudomonas exotoxin A (PE), inhibits protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells by catalytic inactivation (ribosylation) of elongation factor 2 in the ribosome complex.

NCT ID: NCT01061554 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Bioavailability Study of Long Chain Omega-3 Fatty Acids From a Gastric Stable Emulsion

Start date: March 2009
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare the short term absorption of EPA and DHA from triglycerides (TG) released from normal soft gel capsules and from the new patent pending vehicle providing a gastric stable emulsion.

NCT ID: NCT01061177 Completed - Leukemia, Myeloid Clinical Trials

Nilotinib in Newly Diagnosed Adult Philadelphia Chromosome and /or BCR-ABL Positive Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia in Chronic Phase

`MACS1252
Start date: May 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study will assess the efficacy and safety of nilotinib in adult patients with newly diagnosed Philadelphia chromosome positive/BCR-ABL positive chronic myeloid leukaemia in chronic phase. The aim of the study is to confirm the rates of complete molecular remission (CMR) of nilotinib in newly diagnosed CML chronic phase patients in a pan-European population using the EUTOS standardized laboratories.

NCT ID: NCT01059773 Completed - Psoriasis Clinical Trials

A Safety and Efficacy Study of Ustekinumab in Patients With Plaque Psoriasis Who Have Had an Inadequate Response to Methotrexate

TRANSIT
Start date: October 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This purpose of this study is to assess the safety of ustekinumab in psoriasis patients who receive ustekinumab following an inadequate response to methotrexate therapy. The study will provide information for doctors on how to manage the transfer from methotrexate to the biologic agent ustekinumab. The study is designed to compare two methods of transferring patients from methotrexate to ustekinumab. The two methods being compared are discontinuation of methotrexate with immediate initiation of ustekinumab versus initiation of ustekinumab with overlap and gradual dose reduction of methotrexate over 4 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT01059669 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Pancreatitis

The Diagnosis of Chronic Pancreatitis

Start date: August 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To develop a new standardized multimodal diagnostic approach to CP considering: WP 1: Fat in faeces and functional testing; the combination of tests has to be easy to practice, should take as little time as possible and discomfort for the patient has to be minimized WP 2: Advanced ultrasonography and imaging modalities. The focus is on validating standard parenchymal, contrast enhanced and functional ultrasound compared to a modern imaging standard. (CT, EUS, MRI) To evaluate the reliability and feasibility of these novel methods in healthy volunteers; AND To compare findings in known severe CP patients and different stages of pancreatic insufficiency in patients with CP.

NCT ID: NCT01059331 Completed - Living Donors Clinical Trials

Postoperative Analgesia After Laparoscopic Living Donor Nephrectomy

Start date: February 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to investigate if perioperative administration of pregabalin vil reduce postoperative pain and the postoperative need for intravenous opioids compared with todays standard treatment which consist of paracetamol, corticoids and ketobemidone. In addition potential sideeffects as sedation and effect on cognitive function will be recorded.

NCT ID: NCT01059032 Completed - Clinical trials for Radiation Protection

Enhancement and Restoring of Low Dose Abdominal CT Images

Start date: December 2009
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Through the rapid growth of multislice Computer Tomography (CT) imaging, radiation protection has become a major issue in the radiological community. Optimizing CT scanning is a key task when keeping the radiation doses as low as reasonable achievable (the ALARA principle). Post processing filters can improve and restore grainy and noisy low dose CT images by enhancing structure and reducing image noise. In our study of 10 patients, the investigators perform a preliminary evaluation of a novel post processing filter, which does picture element correlations in all three spatial dimensions. By comparing normal dose pictures with unprocessed low-dose pictures and pictures processed with two dimentional (2D) and three dimentional (3D) filters, the investigators will be able to assess the possible clinical value of the 3D filter. This project is collaboration between Buskerud Hospital (BU), Buskerud University College, Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA) and Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization (CMIV). The project is part of the PhD of Lars Borgen.

NCT ID: NCT01058616 Completed - Clinical trials for Cancer With Transdermal Accessible Tumour

Dose-escalation Study of LTX-315 in Patients With a Transdermally Accessible Tumour

Start date: January 2010
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The study will evaluate the safety profile for LTX-315 a lytic-peptide that has shown effect in animal models to kill cancer tumours when injected directly in to the tumour. The study will also monitor the immunological response in the body after injection of LTX-315.

NCT ID: NCT01057810 Completed - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

Phase 3 Study of Immunotherapy to Treat Advanced Prostate Cancer
