This is a non-blinded randomized screening trial of asymptomatic singleton pregnancies without prior spontaneous preterm birth who are randomized to either transvaginal ultrasound cervical length screening program (i.e. intervention group) or no screening (i.e. control group). Women are consented and randomized at the time of their routine anatomy scan between 18 0/7 and 23 6/7 weeks. Women randomized in the transvaginal ultrasound cervical length screening will receive a single transvaginal ultrasound cervical length measurement after the anatomy scan. The cervical length will be measured by operators with certification of competence in the technique.
The study is about comparing blood samples obtained from the superior vena cava and the pulmonary artery. The investigators will compare the values of PCO2 and PO2 from these two sites, in order to see if exists a PCO2 gap and a PO2 gap, different from zero. Moreover the investigators want to find out if these gaps are related with changes in the cardiac output, the hematocrit or if they can predict post operative dysfunctions. Blood samples will be taken at six different times as scheduled by the protocol. Along with the two venous blood samples, an arterial blood sample will be taken too, from a radial of femoral artery catheter.
To date, evidence of the effects of robotic training combined with OnabotulinumtoxinA focal treatment for spasticity is limited. The objective of this study were to compare the effects of robotic training against conventional rehabilitation on functional recovery, strength and spasticity, in stroke patients who underwent OnabotulinumtoxinA focal treatment for spasticity. We performed a single-blind, randomized, controlled trial involving 24 outpatients with diagnoses of stroke, divided in two groups (experimental and control group). Experimental group received specific robotic training for the upper limb with the device Armotion/Motore (Reha Technology AG, Olten, Switzerland). Our primary outcome was Fugl-Meyer Assessment Motor Scale (FMA). Secondary outcome were Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Medical Research Council Scale (MRC) and surface Electromyography (EMG). 14 healthy age-matched controls underwent one session of sEMG acquisition to collect normative data.

In this study, adults with newly-diagnosed Philadelphia Chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) will receive first-line therapy of ponatinib or imatinib. The main aim of this study is to compare the number of participants on each treatment that show no signs of disease. Participants will take tablets of either ponatinib or imatinib at the same time each day combined with reduced-intensity chemotherapy for up to 20 months. Then, they will continue with single-agent therapy (ponatinib or imatinib) until they meet the discontinuation criteria from the study.
Cerebral Cavernous Malformation (CCM) is a cerebrovascular disease which can be either congenital in origin or sporadic and is characterized by the presence of isolated or multiple CCM lesions, causing recurrent headache, seizures, focal neurological deficits and hemorrhages. Inasmuch, to date, the only curative treatment available is limited to surgical lesion eradication or stereotactic radiosurgery. It is therefore necessary to find an effective medical treatment that may limit disease progression and decrease the burden of adverse clinical events. The non-selective betablocker propranolol has been found to be effective in the treatment of infantile cutaneous hemangioma, and anecdotal reports have been published on its efficacy in CCM. The safety profile of propranolol has been documented in millions of patients of all ages. The primary objective of this exploratory trial is to test whether a chronic treatment with propranolol will reduce the burden of cerebrovascular lesions, of clinical events and symptoms in patients with familial CCM.
