There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a pilot, single arm prospective trial assessing feasibility, safety and effects on patient nutritional status of a 5-day fasting-mimicking diet (FMD) in patients with different cancer types and concomitant anticancer treatment.
The primary aim of the study is to investigate the effect of empagliflozin on kidney disease progression or cardiovascular death versus placebo on top of standard of care in patients with pre-existing chronic kidney disease. After completion of the interventional part of the study (primary study completion) a subset of participants will be followed up in a post-trial observational (non-interventional) manner for cardio-renal outcomes (estimated study completion date).
This is a multicentre non-interventional study aimed at evaluating the real-world effectiveness and safety of ocrelizumab treatment in participants with relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS) or primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS), who have been prescribed ocrelizumab as per routine practice. This study will use a comprehensive combination of participant reported outcomes and conventional multiple sclerosis (MS) endpoints that measure clinical domains commonly affected by MS (e.g. fatigue, hand function, gait, cognition), and their impact on employment, activities of daily living, quality of life and healthcare resource utilization. The incidence, type, and pattern of serious adverse events (SAEs), and of adverse events (AEs) leading to treatment discontinuation will also be determined.
The main purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of KLOX BioPhotonic System (composed of KLOX LumiHeal Gel and KT-L Lamp) on the expression of wound biomarkers in the treatment of venous leg ulcers (VLU). Patients will be randomized in three groups, two different dispensing schedules of KLOX BioPhotonic System in addition to Standard of Care (SOC) will be used, and SOC alone.
Nutritional status in patients with neuroendocrine tumours (NETs), especially of gastroenteropancreatic origin, can be deeply affected by excessive production of gastrointestinal hormones, peptides, and amines, which can lead to malabsorption, diarrhoea, steatorrhea, and altered gastrointestinal motility. Besides, the surgical and/or medical management of NETs can lead to alteration of gastrointestinal secretory, motor, and absorptive functions, with both dietary and nutritional consequences. Indeed, disease-related malnutrition is a frequently encountered yet both underrecognized and understudied clinical phenomenon in patients with NETs, with substantial prognostic and socioeconomic consequences. Most of these conditions can be alleviated by a tailored nutritional approach, also with the aim of improving the efficacy of cancer treatments. In this setting, skilled nutritionists can play a fundamental role in the multidisciplinary health care team in NETs management and their presence should be recommended.
Loop diuretics are the main therapy for decongestion of patients with advanced acute heart failure. However, these patients often develop diuretic-resistance or even diuretic-refractoriness. In order to overcome such resistance to diuretic, the clinician can increase the dose of furosemide, or change the way of administration (continuous infusion versus boluses) or associate a different class of diuretics (thiazide diuretics, K+-sparing diuretics) up to the addition of low doses of inotropic agents to improve renal perfusion. At the present time there is no evidence in literature in advanced acute heart failure patients about the superiority of the treatment with furosemide in continuous infusion or in intermittent boluses. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of furosemide in boluses versus continuous infusion in advanced acute heart failure.
evaluate the efficacy of the ultrasound approach in predicting difficult mask ventilation in a heterogeneous population of patients undergoing general anesthesia.
This is a randomized, Phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of pazopanib plus abexinostat versus pazopanib plus placebo in patients with locally advanced unresectable or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC).
Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) aiming at assessing the efficacy of an interdisciplinary multi-component and personalized multi-factorial intervention for reducing falls at one year post-enrolment in comparison to the usual care in a sample of community dwelling elderly (age ≥65 years), with or without Parkinson's Disease and/or previous Stroke.
This study will evaluate the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of midostaurin in combination with standard chemotherapy in pediatrics patients with newly diagnosed FLT3-mutated Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The study has two parts: Part 1 to define the Recommended Phase 2 Dose, and Part 2 to evaluate safety and tolerability and efficacy of midostaurin. Both parts will consist of 2 induction blocks, 3 consolidation blocks, 12 cycles of post-consolidation consisting of continuous therapy with midostaurin, and a follow-up phase.
