The purpose of this study is to facilitate access to trabectedin for eligible previously treated patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS), who cannot be expected to benefit from currently available therapeutic options but who may benefit from treatment with trabectedin. The safety profile of trabectedin will be evaluated to further assess the potential risks of trabectedin treatment.

It has been shown that treatment of HIV-positive women with antiretroviral medication during pregnancy reduces the risk of HIV transmission to the child. However, such treatment could lead to the selection of resistant virus strains in the mother. The object of this study is to check HIV+ pregnant women for resistance mutations in HIV before and after the antiretroviral therapy they receive during pregnancy. HIV-positive newborns will also be tested, to see if a resistant virus strain was transmitted from mother to child.

Pre-eclampsia (PE) and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) are common and important disorders of pregnancy. Both disorders are associated with an impairment of uteroplacental blood flow (UPBF). No effective therapy has been identified to reliably improve UPBF in these patients and typically, obstetric management involves interventional delivery, particularly problematic when remote from term. This study assess the hypothesis that epidural local anesthetics may improve UPBF in these patients.

Dilute Versus Concentrated Epidural Bupivacaine in Labor

This study studies labor epidural analgesia and compares dilute (0.0625%) with concentrated (0.25%) bupivacaine. We hypothesize that patients randomize to receive the concentrated drug will require more drug, will have a more profound motor block, will be more likely to require instrumental delivery and will be less satisfied than those receiving dilute epidural drugs.

Effectiveness of Circular Muscle Exercise (Paula Method) Versus Kegel Exercise for Urinary Stress Incontinence

This is a randomized controlled trial comparing two methods of exercise for the treatment of stress incontinence ( loss of urine after physical exertion) in women. We are comparing the Paula method of circular muscle exercise, in which circular muscles controlling sphincters of the body (such as the eyes, mouth and rectum) are exercised, with pelvic floor training (Kegel exercises) in women in the community. The study hypothesis is that the effectiveness of circular muscle exercises is equivalent to pelvic floor training among women with this disorder.
