Efficacy and Safety of Topical ALT-2074 (SYI-2074) for Treatment of Chronic Plaque Psoriasis

The primary objective of this study will be to evaluate the efficacy of topical ALT-2074 applied twice daily for 28 days for treatment of chronic plaque psoriasis in adult subjects. The secondary objective will be to evaluate the safety of topical ALT-2074 applied twice daily for 28 days for treatment of chronic plaque psoriasis in adult subjects. Tertiary objectives will be to provide visual documentation of the improvement of psoriatic plaques treated with ALT-2074 using digital photography, and to determine the extent of systemic absorption of topically applied ALT-2074 based on a pharmacokinetic measurement of blood concentration.

The ARTEMIS-IPF study was conducted to determine if ambrisentan was effective in delaying disease progression and death in participants with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), to evaluate its safety, and to evaluate its effect on development of pulmonary hypertension, quality of life, and dyspnea (shortness of breath) symptoms in this participant population. Participants were randomized in a 2:1 ratio to receive ambrisentan or placebo, respectively. Participation in the study was to be up to 4 years, depending on how long it would take to enroll participants and observe study events. After randomization, visits to the clinic took place every 3 months, and laboratory procedures were performed every month.

The present study is assessing the efficacy and safety of AVE5530 (25 mg and 50 mg) in add-on to ongoing treatment with high doses of statin in a double-blind manner in comparison with placebo, in the management of patients with severe primary hypercholesterolemia considered as inadequately controlled despite their ongoing statin treatment. The main objective is to evaluate the effects of the association AVE5530+statin on LDL-C level reduction after 12 weeks of treatment. The effects of AVE5530 on other lipid parameters will be assessed as secondary objectives.

Baclofen is a drug that reduces the muscle stiffness. In disabled children that have very stiff muscles, the stiffness and secondary changes in the joints may cause discomfort and pain. In this study we will check if treatment with Baclofen reduces pain in disabled children with stiff muscles.

An Extension Study of LAQ/5062 Exploring the Long Term Safety, Tolerability and Clinical Effect Parameters During the Disease

This is a multinational, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group active extension of LAQ/5062 study (NCT00349193), assessing the tolerability, safety and efficacy of two doses (0.3 mg and 0.6 mg) of laquinimod, orally administered in participants with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), followed by an open-label phase of laquinimod 0.6 mg daily. This study is LAQ/5063 (i.e., double-blind extension) and LAQ/5063 OL (i.e., subsequent open-label extension). - The first period of the extension study is an active, double-blind period. Participants from the active treatment arms in LAQ/5062 continue their assigned treatment in blinded fashion. Participants who were assigned to placebo treatment in LAQ/5062 are equally randomized in blinded-fashion to laquinimod 0.6 mg or laquinimod 0.3 mg. - Once termination visit of LAQ/5063 active double-blind phase (completion of the full 36 weeks or as requested by the Sponsor) is performed, all participants continue on laquinimod 0.6 mg daily as an open-label intervention. The open-label period continues as long as the Sponsor continues the development of laquinimod 0.6 mg for RRMS or early discontinuation.

Response to Hepatitis B Vaccine in Celiac Disease Patients

Celiac disease and infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) are very prevalent worldwide and carry a high morbidity rate. It has been recently shown that patients with celiac disease very often fail to develop immunity after standard vaccination for HBV during infancy. In this study, we will evaluate whether a second vaccination series via a different route of administration (into the skin rather than the muscle) results in a better immunological response in celiac patients. Eligible patients will be randomized to receive a 3-dose vaccination series into the skin or to the muscle. Rate of responders and level of immunity will be compared. This study will facilitate better protection of celiac patients to this potentially deadly virus.
