There are about 9745 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Israel. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
It is well known that Aldosterone (aldo) can cause hypertension (HBP). Since aldo is known to cause the kidney to retain sodium (Na) and Na retention is known to cause HBP, it has been thought that the mechanism by which aldo causes HBP is by Na retention. Recent studies have suggested that aldo has many effects in addition to its ability to cause the kidney to retain Na. To test the hypothesis that aldo can cause HBP in a manner which does not involve Na retention, we plan, in this protocol, to give Eplerenone, a specific aldo antagonist, to patients on dialysis who have HBP. A positive effect of Eplerenone to lower HBP in these patients would support this hypothesis.
We have previoulsy shown that patients with active Tuberculosis develop a wide array of autoantibodies including rheumatoid factor, anti-CCP, Antinuclear facyor and anti Sm antibodies. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether the level of autoantibodies decrease after treatment aganist tuberculosis.
Late preterm infants are at an increased risk for short and long term morbidity (during the 1st year of life, their neurodevelopmental status may also be delayed as compared to infants born at term). The term "near term infants" is probably a deceiving one.
comparison of alveolar bone resorbtion/ changes for a period of 12 month post loading of different designs and brands of oral implants. in this study, a comparison between straumann SLA-active implants to MIS Mistral and Mistral -X implants.
Supraphysiological hormonal stimulation enables collecting many oocytes in an In-Vitro Fertilization treatment, but may have a negative effect on uterine function and contribute the fact that the majority of preembryos placed in the uterus fail to implant. Several medical agents were shown to be beneficial when given in the luteal phase of an IVF cycle, but the optimal regimen has not been yet determined. In 2006, a European group reported that addition of GnRH analog (Decapeptyl) as luteal support in IVF cycle significantly improved pregnancy and delivery rates. It is not known whether this positive effect influences the corpus luteum, embryo or the uterus. The researchers sought to evaluate the effect of GnRH administration as luteal support in frozen-thaws IVF cycle.
The purpose of this study is to focus on dyadic coping as one of the main factors that enhance resilience in adjustment to cancer, while also assessing other protective factors for coping with traumatic events. Specifically, the study aims are: 1. To assess the level of post traumatic distress, functional impairment and depression among breast and prostate cancer patients and their spouses. 2. To assess resiliency factors such as flexibility, self efficacy and ego resilience among breast and prostate cancer patients and their spouses. 3. To examine the pattern of dyadic coping at 3 time points: at the beginning and end of radiation therapy, and at six-week follow-up. 4. To examine the relationships between dyadic coping and level of posttraumatic distress and the resilience factors over time (in 3 repeated measures) Different aspects of coping with the trauma of cancer and its treatment may be assessed. Measures of strength and distress amongst patients and their spouses may enable a fuller picture of what types of responses exist, which interventions may be most beneficial, and what other factors may relate to positive coping, increased resilience and quality of life, such as flexibility, and the nature of the couples' dyadic coping.
THis study aims to determine whether frequent dosing of intravitreal injections of Ranibizumab (Lucentis) or Bevacizumab (Avastin), which act as VEGF inhibitors, has a deleterious effect on the retina, studied by electrophysiologic testing. This prospective, non-randomized clinical study will include patients assigned to intravitreal injection of Ranibizumab or Bevacizumab due to neovascular AMD. The patients will undergo repeat ophthalmic evaluation and intravitreal injections every 4-6 weeks, as long as will be deemed necessary. Periodic electrophysiologic evaluation including Electroretinogram (ERG), electro-oculogram (EOG) and Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP) tests will be performed every 3 months.
Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a common dermatological disorder, manifested as scaly nodules which appear mainly on the extensor surfaces of the limbs. PN may appear secondarily to skin scratching in chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, uremia, hypothyroidism etc. Nevertheless, in many cases no underlying physical disease is present. According to the literature, in fifty percent of the patients there is co-morbidity with depression, anxiety or somatoform disorders. We hypothesize that a group of these patients may benefit from antidepressant therapy.
The researched attends to observe the relationships between toddlers that were diagnosed as SPD and as having feeding disorder (by DSM-R-IV)and their parents.
The aim of this study is to investigate whether there was an association between obesity and periodontitis, tendency to caries and periapical lesions. People who have a higher body mass index produce cytokines (hormone-like proteins), that lead to systemic/chronic inflammation (like periodontitis and periapical lesions), and obesity related dietary habits could result in an increment of dental caries because both the amount and the frequency of sucrose ingestion are important factors associated with the aetiology of the oral disease.
