There are about 3753 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Hong Kong. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a phase 2, single-arm trial designed to assess the clinical benefit of treatment with nivolumab administered in patients with untreated, borderline resectable HCC.
Cardiometabolic disease has been an increasing trend globally and remains the major cause of morbidity and mortality. Health coaching, a process of goal-oriented and client-centered partnership that is health-focus and through client enlightenment and empowerment, are generally effective for chronic disease management and prevention of complication. However, there is inconclusive result on the effects of health coaching in the primary prevention of cardiometabolic diseases. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a theory-guided health coaching programme for middle-aged adults with cardiometabolic risk.
This teaching development aims to enhance the clinical reasoning and empathy of nursing students in nursing students in smoking cessation training. The evaluation aims to assess the feasibility and efficacy of virtual reality (VR) video-based learning for enhancing self-efficacy in delivering smoking cessation intervention. The proposed study is 2-arm, waitlist-control, pragmatic randomized controlled trial (RCT) (allocation ratio 1:1), by comparing the self-efficacy and performance of clinical reasoning between nursing students who are provided VR videos of a smoker's real-life scenario and reading materials (intervention group) and those who are only provided the same reading materials (control). Individual randomization will be used. All participants will be given a group assignment and expected to complete the assignment by the end of the tutorial. The group assignment and self-administered pre- and post-learning survey will be used for the teaching outcome evaluation.
This study aims to develop a theory-driven, brief alcohol intervention protocol for HCPs to deliver the intervention for co-users of tobacco and alcohol during smoking cessation treatment. The primary hypothesis is that smoking cessation treatment including the alcohol intervention will increase tobacco abstinence and reduce alcohol drinking. Our second hypothesis is that the brief intervention to deal with alcohol use will be feasible during smoking cessation treatment and be widely accepted by smokers.
This study will investigate the effect of caffeine and time of day on brain excitability using excitatory brain stimulation. The investigators will recruit a healthy participant and conduct a concurrent iTBS/fNIRS protocol for 20 consecutive sessions over four weeks with or without caffeine consumption before the stimulation. Moreover, the experiment will be conducted at different times of the day (morning or afternoon)
Intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) is a promising treatment for major depressive disorder. However, fewer than 50% of patients show sufficient response. Therefore, the optimal treatment protocol is worth investigating. Recent studies show that the relationship between stimulation intensity and prefrontal hemodynamic response is not linear but in an inverse U-shape by exploring the hemodynamic changes before and after iTBS. Concurrent transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)/functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) setup allows the investigators to observe the prefrontal hemodynamic response during stimulation. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of different intensities on brain activity during and after the stimulation using fNIRS.
One of the main goals of physiotherapy in stroke rehabilitation is to maximize walking ability of patients as soon as possible. Traditionally, intervention selection and application of neuroplasticity to stroke patients depends on personal preference and experience of therapists. Recent development of technologies may provide more accessible, efficient, objective, intensive and predictive methods compared to traditional practices in facilitating the process of recovery after brain injury and standardizing stroke rehabilitation programs. A clinical quality improvement program named Accelerated Stroke Ambulation Program (ASAP) was started in Stroke Rehabilitation Program Tai Po Hospital by Physiotherapy Department since 2019, pilot period from October 2019 to September 2020 and execute as standard practice afterward.
This is a randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging Phase 1b study of the safety, PK, and antiviral activity of ABI-H3733 in treatment-naïve or off-treatment chronic Hepatitis B virus (cHBV) subjects that are Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) positive or negative. The study will enroll up to 5 sequential cohorts of 10 subjects each, for a total of up to 50 subjects, randomized 8:2 to receive ABI-H3733 or placebo.
This research investigated the effects of mindfulness practice on mental wellbeing and parenting behaviour, with the instruction recordings delivered via existing instant messaging applications, including Whatsapp and Signal. The two-week mindfulness program targeted parents with children in Nursery, Kindergarten to Primary School. Due to the suspension of schools, work from home policies, parents spend increased amount of time with their children. News reports have indicated that with the mounting care taking responsibilities and downturn of economy amidst the epidemic, parents have been experiencing higher stress that may negatively impact their wellbeing and parent-child relationship. This study delivered an app-based intervention that aims at enhancing mindful parenting at the time of corona, where social distancing is emphasized.
Since 2014, the Queen Mary Hospital, a tertiary teaching hospital in Hong Kong, has commenced the provision of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) services with structured guidelines, standardized protocols and comprehensive pre- and post-operative assessments. It is hoped that the needs of chronic pain patients, especially those who are refractory to conventional medical management, can be better addressed with the introduction of SCS. Hence, through the proposed retrospective study, the investigator aim to systematically evaluate the use of SCS in Queen Mary Hospital, thereby providing evidence with regard to its efficacy and safety for pain management.
