There are about 11304 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Denmark. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Rationale: Bladder tumours are often not visible on X-ray based image-modalities during planning and treatment of Radiotherapy. Purpose: To determine if a single contrast (Lipiodol) demarcation of the bladder tumour before treatment is feasible and visible on multiple X-ray based image-modalities during Radiotherapy.
The purpose of this study is to compare two different fixationmethods for fractures of the wrist(distal radius fractures). We are comparing an external fixation (Hoffmann-II-non-bridging) vs. an internal fixation(Micronail). Primary endpoint is patient satisfaction as scored by the DASH-questionnaire.Secondary followup is X-rays, strength, PRWE-questionnaire.
Osteoporosis is a generalised bone disease leading to an increased risk of fractures. The disease is caused partly by environmental and partly by genetic factors. It is well known that the fat content of the bone marrow is increased in osteoporotic patients. Animal studies suggest that stimulation of bone marrow stem cells through the molecule PPARgamma with the drug rosiglitazone converts the stem cells to fat cells instead of bone cells thereby decreasing bone strength. In a single study healthy volunteers were treated with rosiglitazone for 14 weeks and had a decrease in bone mineral density. In the present study we wish to investigate the effect of this treatment on bone and fat tissue. 25 women above the age of 60 will be treated with rosiglitazone 8 mg/day for 14 weeks and compared with 25 women receiving placebo. The effect will be evaluated as follows: 1. The effect on bone marrow density will be examined by a bone scan prior to and after treatment and again after 6 and 9 months. 2. The effect on bone turnover will be measured in blood- and urine samples at the same times. 3. The effect on fat distribution will be evaluated by an MRI scan after treatment. 4. The effect on bone marrow cells will be investigated bone marrow sampling immediately after treatment 5. The direct effect on fat will be examined by a biopsy immediately after treatment The study hypothesis is that rosiglitazone treatment decreases bone mineral density and increases bone marrow fat content. The causal molecular mechanisms will be investigated from the bone marrow and fat samples
A polysomnography study to evaluate the effect, safety and tolerability of oral administration of almorexant (ACT 078573) in adult subjects with primary insomnia.
To compare application site reactions after superficial and deep subcutaneous and intradermal injections of insulin detemir and saline in patients with diabetes - The patient serves as his own control, n=100 patients with diabetes
The COGENT-4 Field Following Study will evaluate the clinical performance of the Boston Scientific TELIGEN 100 HE Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), the COGNIS 100 HE Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy ICD (CRT-D) systems and the RELIANCE 4-SITE defibrillation lead (when available). An optional sub-study will also evaluate the clinical performance of the Reverse Mode Switch (RMS) feature in the TELIGEN 100 HE DR ICD.
The scope of the study was to investigate different metabolic aspects that may lead to or are a consequence of insulin resistance in premenopausal women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We use gold standard methods for evaluation of insulin resistance. We take muscle and fat biopsies for investigation of gene expression of different cytokines associated with insulin resistance. We investigate the incretin hormones GIP and GLP-1. These two hormones play a central role in glycemic control, and diabetic subjects are known to have alterations in their incretin hormones. The incretin hormones have not previously been investigated in women with PCOS.
The purpose of the study is to test whether Macugen injected into the eye improves vision in more patients than the currently existing standard of care laser therapy. The safety of Macugen compared to standard of care laser will also be evaluated.
This trial is conducted in Europe. The aim of this trial is to investigate the safety and efficacy of insulin detemir combined with oral anti-diabetic drugs (OADs) versus insulin NPH combined with oral anti-diabetic drugs (OADs) in Type 2 mellitus not well controlled on current therapy on blood glucose control.
To evaluate quality of life in patients after 10 days pause of thyroid medication (Liothyronine) compared to treatment with recombinant TSH (Thyrogen) before radioiodine uptake and treatment in a double-blinded, randomised cross-over design.
