There are about 11304 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Denmark. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
In Denmark the vast majority of patients with chronic ischemic heart disease and/or type 2 diabetes are managed in general practice. 20% of the patients suffer from poor mental health. Problem-solving therapy (PST) is a psychotherapeutic method that is proven effective in adults with poor mental health. PST can be provided in general practice. The main objective of this study is to test effectiveness of providing PST to this group patients.
The aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that the effects on albuminuria of combination treatment with the endothelin receptor antagonist zibotentan and SGLT2i dapagliflozin are complimentary and additive while the fluid retaining effects of zibotentan can be mitigated by dapagliflozin.
The goal of this observational study is to gather data about surgical procedures for rectal prolapse in adult human subjects. The main question it aims to answer is: • Which procedure is best for treating external rectal prolapse? Participants will: - be included if they can consent to participation - be offered standard care treatment, as no interventions will be done - be asked to answer relevant questionnaires within 3 months prior to the surgery for rectal prolapse - be asked to answer the same questionnaires 6 and 12 months postoperative - optionally answer the questionnaires again at 3 and 1 year postoperative, but this is not part of the existing funding body
To assess if perioperative consumption of opioids can be optimized with the assistance of a Nociception Level (NOL) monitor in breast surgery patients receiving pectoral and parasternal nerve blocks as supplementation to general anaesthesia. Hypothesis: 1. NOL monitor guidance optimizes perioperative analgesic consumption and postoperative length of stay and offers a better quality of recovery in breast surgery. 2. Intraoperative NOL monitoring can detect the efficacy of pectoralis and parasternal nerve blocks. 3. Incidence of persistent neuropathic pain after breast cancer surgery is lower in patients receiving lower doses of perioperative opioids.
The exploratory project aims to investigate the presence of pain as a long Covid-19 symptom in previously hospitalised patients and in non-hospitalised persons previously tested positive in a PCR test.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of low-intensity BFR exercise on joint pain, muscle mass, and mechanical muscle function compared to standard rehabilitering in adults with knee-OA.
Our purpose is to 1. Examine the correlation between MDF in a resting EEG, recorded just before the CRT test, and the variance in reaction times indicated by the CRT index 2. At simultaneous CRT and EEG recording, examine whether a change in EEG is seen immediately before an extended reaction time occurs (defined by the 75th percentile). This will shed light on a direct pathophysiological association between what is measured with EEG and CRT. 3. Investigate whether cyclicity can be detected in the continuous reaction times and if so, whether amplitude and wavelength in this cyclic activity are correlated to EEG parameters. 4. Examine whether a response to standard HE treatment can be detected with EEG in patients who are thought to suffer from it. As well as if baseline outcome predict future hepatic encephalopathy. 5. With a view to further validating our findings, investigators want to correlate results from EEG and CRT with the most internationally widespread psychometric test, the Portosystemic Encephalopathy test (PSE), which necessitates the establishment of Danish normal values. A secondary purpose of this study is therefore 6. To establish Danish normal values for the PSE test and the Animal Naming test in Danes
Background: Patients with liver cirrhosis rarely receive palliative care although the Danish Health Authorities and WHO recommend it. The lacking palliative intervention is probably owed to a physician culture focused on life-prolonging active treatment at any cost and unclarities, and misperceptions about palliative care, which is perceived by many as exclusively for cancer patients and something that marks the end of active treatment. Study aim: Measure the effect of palliative care on the patient burden, caregiver burden, and the utilization of healthcare services. Study design: Prospective multi-center intervention study with end of study at the patients' death. We will use a 3-faceted endpoint 1) Patient burden measured by change in Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, 2) caregiver burden by a change in Zarit Caregiver Burden Questionnaire, and 1) health care system burden as the difference in number, length, and indication for hospital admissions and need for outpatient services. Patients: We will prospectively include 200 patients with liver cirrhosis (approx. 50 from each of 4-5 sites: Esbjerg, Herlev, Hvidovre, Århus) who have 2 or more items checked on the Supportive and Palliative Care Indicators Tool. Control groups will be identified from two non-participating hospitals and matched regarding age, gender, number of comorbidities, and alcohol and caregiver status. Methods: The intervention will be advanced care planning with conversations and actions built around a standardized symptom identification tool (EORTC QLQ-C15-PAL). Advance care planning is the collaborative process between patients and health care professionals of planning future health care. The assignment of a contact nurse to each participant is a key part of the intervention. Results: We will measure patient and caregiver burden at inclusion, after 4-6 weeks, 4-6 months, and every 6 months until the patient dies. All use of health care services will be registered. The use of health care services during the terminal 2 years will be compared that of control patients.
Prospective phase 2a clinical trial to demonstrate proof-of-concept for simultaneous hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate and 18F-FDG for positron emission tomography (PET) and MRS (magnetic resonance spectroscopy) in a PET/MR scanner in patients with cancer.
This pilot study aims at describing the prevalence and distribution of molecular alterations in thyroid nodules of benign and malignant origin at the level of DNA and RNA in a Danish population. Patients with thyroid nodules suspected of malignancy is included prospectively. Tissue samples are collected for molecular analyses form surgical specimens and bloodsamples, and preoperative clincial features are registered.
