There are about 11304 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Denmark. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of switching abacavir/lamivudine (ABC/3TC) fixed-dose combination (FDC) tablets to emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (F/TAF) FDC tablets versus maintaining ABC/3TC in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infected adults who are virologically suppressed on regimens containing ABC/3TC.
The study examines the effect of a low FODMAP diet in patients with UC in remission but still having GI symptoms (IBS in IBD). 15 patients will be on watchful waiting. 15 patients will be on low FODMAP diet. 15 patients with recieve FODMAPs in their diet.
This extension study was a 24-week off-drug follow-up of the core CBYM338E2202 (NCT ) study and the main objective was to determine the long-term durability of bimagrumab (BYM338) effect after a 6-month treatment period.
Despite the fact that migraine is a common disorder, the pathogenesis is still not fully elucidated. Studying transcriptomic and biochemical changes during induced and spontaneous migraine-attacks will enhance our understanding and may point to new targets for drug development.
Stress ulcer prophylaxis (SUP) is standard of care in the intensive care unit (ICU), however the quantity and quality of evidence is low and potential harm has been reported. The aim of the SUP-ICU trial is to asses the overall benefits and harms of SUP with proton pump inhibitor in adult critically ill patients in the ICU.
It has previously been shown that nitroglycerine induces cluster headache attacks in episodic cluster headache patients (ECH patients) in bouts but not in remission phase. Furthermore, plasma concentrations of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) have been shown to be significantly higher during, but not before and after, an attack. The attack appears around 20-40 min after nitroglycerine infusion with vasodilatation. During this latency period preceding the attack, no increase in CGRP plasma concentrations is seen. CGRP induces migraine attacks in 65% of migraine patients, and CGRP antagonists as well as monoclonal antibodies against CGRP are effective in migraine treatment. Based on the above the investigators hypothesize the following: 1. Provoking ECH patients in bout with CGRP triggers cluster headache attacks 2. Provoking ECH patients in remission with CGRP does not trigger cluster headache attacks 3. Provoking chronic cluster headache patients with CGRP triggers cluster headache attacks more often than in ECH patients.
Albiglutide is an analogue of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), used to treat type 2 diabetes This study will test whether albiglutide affects the occurrence of major cardiovascular events such as heart attacks or strokes and other important medical outcomes in persons with type 2 diabetes, when used alone or added to other diabetes treatments.
BACKGROUND - Vascular surgical patients often receive red blood cell (RBC) transfusions in the peri-operative period - RBC transfusion may lead to improved outcome but on the other hand the intervention may be harmful - Danish Health and Medicines Authority recommends transfusion of RBC at hemoglobin below 5 mmol/L while local clinical guidelines recommend transfusion of RBC to maintain hemoglobin levels above 6 mmol/L - A large randomized clinical trial is needed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of RBC transfusion in patients undergoing vascular surgery. - A trial examining the effect of RBC transfusion on tissue oxygenation is used to test the trial-design and feasibility for a trial evaluating post-operative mortality and morbidity.
Postmenopausal women, stratified by a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma-2 (PPARG) polymorphism, were given the following treatments in a random order with a 5w wash-out period: a 400mg ibuprofen tablet or a placebo tablet; both treatments were followed after 30min by a single acute dose of 0.4g alcohol per kg bw. Serum estrogen levels were measured before and at three timepoints after alcohol intake. It is hypothesized that the acute decrease in estrogen sulphate and other markers of estrogens after alcohol intake is modulated by ibuprofen and by PPARG genotype.
The prevalence of childhood obesity has increased at an alarming rate over the last decades, both globally and in Denmark. There are a number of serious sequelae related to obesity, such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, fatty liver and prediabetes. Obesity is found to be a risk factor for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA in childhood is known to be associated with cardiovascular complications, neurocognitive problems and reduced quality of life. The correlation between obesity and OSA is still poorly understood. Early detection and intervention is of great importance as the health consequences related to OSA as well as obesity are severe. Adenotonsillectomy is recommended as first-line therapy in children with OSA. However, only around 25% of obese children benefit from this treatment compared to around 75% of normal-weight children suggesting that there might be other structural factors predisposing to OSA in obese children. In this study the investigators aim to clarify the impact of obesity in the development of OSA. The prevalence of OSA in obese children will be investigated. Furthermore the purpose is to assess the effect of weight loss on OSA.
