Primary Objective: To investigate effects of SAR440340 (anti-interleukin-33 [IL-33] monoclonal antibody [mAb]) compared with placebo, on the annualized rate of moderate-to-severe acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD) over up to 52 weeks of treatment. - Moderate exacerbations were recorded by the Investigator and defined as AECOPD that require either systemic corticosteroids (such as intramuscular, intravenous or oral) and/or antibiotics. - Severe exacerbations were recorded by the Investigator and defined as AECOPD requiring hospitalization, emergency medical care visit or resulting in death. Secondary Objectives: To investigate effects of SAR440340 compared with placebo, on improving respiratory function, as assessed by pre-bronchodilator forced exploratory volume in 1 second (FEV1). To evaluate effects of SAR440340 compared with placebo, on post-bronchodilator FEV1. To evaluate effects of SAR440340 compared with placebo, on duration from baseline to first moderate or severe AECOPD event. To evaluate effects of SAR440340 compared with placebo, on safety and tolerability.
The purpose of this study is to determine which type of lumbar stabilization exercise is more effective to improve functionality and reduce pain in patients operated with lumbar arthrodesis, to guide clinical practice in the rehabilitation of these patients.
Children develop anxiety during the induction of anaesthesia and video-games might reduce or alleviate it. The investigators intend to conduct a clinical trial to study the effect of tablet-based interctive games on alleviating preoperative anxiety.
Patients who have shown previous implantation failures, despite transferring good quality and chromosomally normal embryos (diagnosed by PGT-A), could have a displaced Window of Implantation (WOI) and consequently, alterations in their endometrial receptivity. The correction of this displacement can improve the results of the Assisted Reproduction Treatments (ART). The ERA test (Endometrial Receptivity Analysis) evaluates the transcriptomic endometrial profile to determine if the patient's uterus is receptive when the embryo is transferred during an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) process, and identifies the personalized WOI of the patient. This process is called Personalized Embryo Transfer (pET). The Preimplantation Genetic Test of Aneuploidies or PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy), is currently carried out using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and serves to identify chromosomally normal embryos prior to their transfer in an IVF treatment. Aneuploidies are rarely compatible with life or can cause congenital diseases. So, the identification of chromosomally normal embryos, improves the success of reproduction in cases in which infertility is caused by such aneuploidies. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine, in a randomized and prospective way, the clinical benefit of adding the ERA test to the embryonic aneuploidies test for patients with a PGT-A indication.
This study will evaluate periodontal and systemic parameters of a cohort of chronic kidney disease (stage 5) patients, before and three months after non-surgical periodontal treatment. It does not consider a control group.
Recent global burden of disease analysis of DALYs, showed that dietary risk have the highest DALYs in ischemic stroke among behavioral risk factors. The MediDiet is associated with a decreased risk of total mortality as well as stroke incidence and mortality. Although not part of the classical Mediterranean diet they are another nutrient-dense source of MUFA, rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, phytosterols and polyphenols extensively consumed in the Americas. Avocado-substituted diets significantly decrease cholesterol levels in diabetic and obese patients. Secondary stroke prevention studies with diet as an intervention are lacking and there is little information of what patients eat before or after an ischemic stroke. Lowering Low Density Cholesterol (LDL-C) levels decreases stroke recurrence. The aim is to determine the effect of a Mediterranean style diet based on Avocados on lipid profile particularly LDL-C in patients who have had an ischemic stroke and are at high recurrence risk.Methodology: Academic, open-label, blinded outcome assessment (PROBE design), clinical trial. Participants will be patients with an acute ischemic stroke admitted to Clínica Alemana de Santiago, who fulfills the eligibility criteria. Eligible patients will be randomly assigned to either diet intervention in a 1:1 ratio. The interventions will be: A) Avocado based Mediterranean diet with intake of ½ portion of a Hass avocado per day and B) Standard recommendation of low fat-high complex carbohydrate diet recommended by the National Cholesterol Education Program and the American Heart Association. The main efficacy outcome will be the level of plasma LDL-C level at 3 months of the dietary intervention. Secondary outcomes will be changes in: Levels of serum lipid profile, serum inflammation markers, glycemic control, anthropomorphic measures, stroke recurrence, cardiovascular events, adverse events, compliance. A sample size of 100 patients per group (200 in total) was estimated to provide 80% power and 5% level of significance with 10% loss and 5% crossover to detect the same difference in LDL-C after 3 months of intervention in patients with acute stroke. The investigators hypothesize that an Avocado based Mediterranean diet will significantly reduce levels of LDL-cholesterol at 3 months in patients who have suffered a recent acute ischemic stroke compared to the standard diet.
The purpose of this trial was to assess the ability of eltrombopag to induce sustained treatment-free remission in immune thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) subjects who relapsed or failed to respond to an initial treatment with steroids.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and incidence of anti-drug antibodies (ADAs) of single ascending doses of clesrovimab in healthy pre-term (born at 29 to 35 weeks gestational age) and full-term (born at >35 weeks gestational age) infants. Participants will be randomized into 1 of 4 dose escalation panels (Panels A to D); an additional panel (Panel E) of full-term infants will receive the same dose as Panel D. Key safety and tolerability variables will be reviewed after each dose panel prior to administering the next-highest dose.

Background: Depression is prevalent and can have devastating effects on the life of adolescents. Computerized intervention programs for depression have shown positive results. There is less evidence in prevention and early treatment for depression in Latin American adolescents. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine whether a stepped internet-based program is effective to prevent and early intervene depression in adolescents attending 9th to 11th grade in eight schools in Santiago, Chile. Study design: A two-arm cluster-randomized clinical trial will be carried out with approximately 600 adolescents.
