There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study will explore the safety and effectiveness of different doses of AGN 203818 in treating the pain associated with fibromyalgia syndrome. The study is being conducted in 2 parts. Part A enrolled 211 pts dosed with either 3, 20, 60 mg BID AGN 203818 or placebo over 4 week treatment duration. Part B will enroll 440 pts and dose with either 20, 100, 160 mg BID AGN 203818 or placebo over 12 week treatment duration.
Pevion Biotech has designed a therapeutic vaccine to treat patients who suffer from chronic hepatitis C virus infection. The vaccine is based on a combination of the PeviPRO and PeviTER platforms using synthetic peptide antigens from the hepatitis C virus. Generally, a cellular immune response by cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTL) seems to be crucial in overcoming a hepatitis C virus infection. In-depth research in recent years has shown that the cellular immune response is even more effective when supported by helper T-cells. Pevion Biotech's HCV vaccine candidate utilizes this effect inducing specific CTL responses (PeviTER) together with a supportive helper T cell response (PeviPRO). This virosome-based technological combination in a single product represents a new generation of modular therapeutic vaccines.
RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab also may stop the growth of breast cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving bevacizumab together with doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well giving bevacizumab together with doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome works in treating women with locally recurrent or metastatic breast cancer.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of fesoterodine in comparison to tolterodine and placebo for overactive bladder
To evaluate fondaparinux 2.5mg subcutaneously once daily for 45 days in the treatment of acute (recent) superficial thrombophlebitis.
The study is designed to evaluate the effects of acute psychological stress on blood glucose levels. We will study one group of patients in the fasting state on a control day and a stress test day, another group will undergo the same protocol in the postprandial state.
Multicentre, open label, phase III study. Subjects with moderate to severe psoriasis were given efalizumab subcutaneously once per week for the 12-week treatment period. Assessments involved physical examination, disease activity assessments, clinical laboratory tests (haematology, blood chemistry and standard urinalysis), evaluation of the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI), the Physician's Global Assessment (PGA), the Patient's Global Psoriasis Assessment (PGPA), the SF-36 Health Survey and psoriatic body surface area (BSA). The 12-week treatment period was followed by a 12-week follow-up (FU) period, during which other antipsoriatic medications were allowed. The same assessments were also performed in the 12-week FU period.
We aim to assess the influence of chronic insomnia on the neuroendocrine regulation of the glucose and lipid metabolism to more clearly define the metabolic derangements associated with chronic insomnia and to prove that chronic insomnia is associated with increased levels of stress hormones, cytokines and impaired insulin sensitivity.
European physicians tend to always use the lowest dose of statins to initiate therapy even in subjects who require large reductions in cholesterol. The study evaluates if selecting the starting dose based on baseline and target LDL-C cholesterol would provide better results (ie proportion of subjects resching target)
Hepatocarcinoma (HCC) is the first cause of deaths due to cancer worldwide. More than one million two hundred thousand new patients are diagnosed each year. The prognosis of patients suffering from advanced hepatocarcinoma is poor with an average survival of less than six months. Phase I data suggest that low levels of electromagnetic fields administered intrabucally with a portable and programmable device are a safe and potentially effective treatment for advanced cancer. The device is connected to a spoon-like coupler placed in the patient's mouth during treatment. Patients with advanced HCC and limited therapeutic options will be offered treatment with a combination of frequencies.
