Compare safety of Lacosamide (LCM) to Carbamazepine Controlled-Release (CBZ-CR) as monotherapy in newly or recently newly diagnosed subjects with primary safety variables including spontaneous reports of Adverse Events (AEs), withdrawal of subjects due to AEs, reporting of Serious AEs (SAEs).
Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) is a minimally invasive technique used to remove rectal tumours. After the tumour has been removed from the rectum, the surgeon has a choice to close the defect or leave the defect open and naturally close. Currently, both options are accepted as standard care. Leaving the defect open to close naturally has some possible advantages, including shortened operation time and similar rates of postoperative complications. However, there is some concern that not surgically closing the defect may lead to more postoperative pain and delay in recovery. The study will be a double blind randomized controlled trial and determine whether patients who have rectal wall defect sutured closed have less post-operative pain compared to patients whose defect is left open.

This is a study of combination direct-acting antiviral agents (DAA) with or without ribavirin (RBV) in patients with chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV).
The purpose of this study is to test whether a oral micronized progesterone reduces the Vasomotor Symptom Score comprised of the number and severity of hot flushes and night sweats in perimenopausal women. Oral micronized progesterone is molecularly identical to human progesterone, a steroid hormone. It is sold by prescription for use to prevent endometrial cancer in women taking estrogen in menopause. This research study will test whether progesterone reduces perimenopausal hot flushes and night sweats. It will also test whether progesterone improves sleep disturbances and anxiety.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether injections of Botulinum toxin type A into muscles of the leg are effective in treating patients with increased muscle tension/uncontrollable muscle stiffness (spasticity) after a stroke.
Some patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) have large number of specific white blood cells called eosinophils in their airways. These cells are also responsible for causing episodes of worsened respiratory symptoms (exacerbations) and often cause irreversible damage to the airways . This subset of COPD patients often require oral steroids to bring down the number of eosinophils in their airways. Steroids have harmful effects on several of our body systems like bones, blood pressure, blood glucose control and can cause recurrent infections. Mepolizumab is a drug that specifically targets eosinophils reducing the number in the airway. This drug has been shown to be effective in decreasing exacerbation rates and time to exacerbation in asthma patients with eosinophils in their airways. Targeting eosinophils in COPD patients has been shown to reduce severe exacerbations. Hence it is likely that COPD patients with eosinophils in their airways will benefit similarly and have reduced rates and time to exacerbation. Study Hypothesis:Does mepolizumab decrease sputum eosinophils in patients with fixed airflow obstruction (COPD) and eosinophilic bronchitis?
A research study of a procedure to treating lung cancer with focused radiation called Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of individualizing the dose of radiation used to treat lung tumors with SABR based on tumor-specific factors. While recent research has identified SABR as a promising method to increase local control (LC) of lung cancer, further research has indicated that tumor volume is a prognostic factor, with increased size/volume of tumor being associated with poorer outcomes. This study explores if a volume-adapted strategy for the radiologic exposure (dose) will improve efficacy in larger tumors (ie, > 10 cc). This is a study of the procedure stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR). It is not a study of a specific drug or device.
This phase II trial studies how well sunitinib malate works in treating younger patients with recurrent, refractory, or progressive malignant glioma or ependymoma. Sunitinib malate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
