There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Primary Objective: To demonstrate that the simple daily titration algorithm is non-inferior to the weekly titration algorithm according to Canadian labeling. Secondary Objective: To gain additional information on the efficacy and safety of using a simple patient-titration protocol for administration of insulin glargine/lixisenatide fixed-ratio combination (iGlarLixi).
The purpose of this study is to determine if treatment with apalutamide plus androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) before and after radical prostatectomy (RP) with pelvic lymph node dissection (pLND) in participants with high-risk localized or locally advanced prostate cancer results in an improvement in pathological complete response (pCR) rate and metastasis-free survival (MFS) as compared to placebo plus ADT.
Purpose: This study is designed to: 1. Implement a website hosting perceptual learning modules (PLMs) 2. Implement and assess a PLM designed to improve the capacity of fourth-year medical students and first-year residents (novices) to locate the brachial plexus (BP) at the level of the interscalene groove on surface ultrasound images. Hypothesis: The hypothesis of the study is that the PLM will improve the ability of novices to correctly locate the BP at the level of the interscalene groove on surface ultrasound images, compared to a control group.
Seventy-eight recreational athletes who never resistance trained will be randomly assigned into three groups of twenty-six. Branched-chain amino acid will be supplemented for 18days at 0, 200 or 400 mg/body weight(kg)/day in jelly. Participants will be asked to perform elbow flexions on the 12th day of supplementation. Maximum voluntary contractions will be measured before, during and after the supplementation period to compare the effects of different doses of branched-chain amino acid has on muscle damage markers.
This project is a continuing study from the FEATHERS project (NCT02290353) which focuses on developing novel home therapy program for persons with hemiparesis. This study will focus on examining motor behaviour and adaptation in neurodevelopmental hemiparesis (cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury (ABI)). New algorithms for motion control involved in encouraging active movement are developed and will be tested, but the study has the same therapeutic goal and focus as the original FEATHERS project of creating an engaging at-home bimanual upper limb training program. By incorporating existing gaming technology, we hope to discover novel ways to adapt commercial motion tracking controllers and visual feedback into engaging rehabilitative learning tools. This study will focus on a basic science aspect of human bimanual movements that can be incorporated into future applications of the full FEATHERS project devices. We believe that together these approaches will yield interventions that significantly improve functional ability and lead to improved quality of life.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the ability of subjects with moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis (PSO) to safely and effectively self-inject bimekizumab at study start and 8 weeks after training in self-injection technique using a prefilled safety syringe or an auto-injector.
The purpose of this clinical study is to determine whether the addition of an oral Factor XIa Inhibitor to Aspirin and Clopidogrel is more effective than standard therapy in secondary stroke prevention.
The main study intervention is the daily witnessing of participant self-administration of medications by trained pharmacy staff to ensure compliance. The staff in question will be provided by Leila pharmacy and will in addition provide support so that individuals can transition back into living independently through reminders to attend regularly scheduled medical appointments and counseling on correct use of prescribed medications.
To demonstrate the clinical utility of the addition of per oral cholangioscopy (POCS) to standard endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with brushing cytology for diagnosis and early detection of cholangiocarcinoma in patients diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).
This is a randomized, active-controlled, open-label study of pembrolizumab (Pembro) given prior to surgery and pembrolizumab in combination with standard of care radiotherapy (with or without cisplatin), as post-surgical therapy in treatment naïve participants with newly diagnosed Stage III/IVA, resectable, locoregionally advanced, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (LA-HNSCC). Efficacy outcomes will be stratified by programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) combined positive score (CPS) status. The primary hypothesis is that pembrolizumab given before surgery and after surgery in combination with radiotherapy (with or without cisplatin) improves event-free survival compared to radiotherapy (with or without cisplatin) given after surgery alone.
