This study is designed to evaluate the feasibility and primary responses of a 3-week exergaming cycling program called Liberi Exergames for pediatric inpatients with cerebral palsy who are recovering from orthopedic surgery. This study involves the use of multiplayer exercise video games or 'exergames' that incorporate an avatar powered by pedalling a recumbent stationary bicycle. The Liberi suite of exergames contains six mini-games, including a combination of cooperative games, competitive games and individual games designed to be fast-paced, action-oriented, and enjoyable for youth with special needs. Standardized questionnaires and assessments investigating post-operative pain, gross motor function, quality of life, and study engagement are also administered. Five participants will engage in 'exergaming' sessions every weekday for 3 weeks, and five participants will only complete the assessments and questionnaires. All participants will receive the standard of care physiotherapy.

Few older adults receive treatment for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) despite a high prevalence in this population and significant associated health care costs. Although older adults generally prefer psychotherapy to medication for help with anxiety, face-to-face psychotherapy is difficult to access for many of them. Psychological guided self-help (GSH), which patients use by themselves at home under the supervision of a licensed mental health provider (e.g., psychologist), has been shown to be effective. However, the capacity of our health care system to respond adequately to the mental health needs of seniors has been questioned and cost-effective solutions are required. Because the therapist's role in GSH is limited to supporting the patient, it is conceivable that this role could be assumed by trained and supervised lay providers (LP) instead of licensed providers. If this approach is effective, it could help provide many older adults with much needed mental health treatment at a lower cost. The main objective of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of GSH guided by LP for GAD in older adults. Participants will be assigned randomly to an experimental group, which will receive treatment immediately, or to a control group whose treatment will be delayed. Data will be obtained through clinician evaluations and self-assessment questionnaires. They will include socio-demographic characteristics, symptoms of GAD, variables related to anxiety, such as depression and sleep difficulties, and participants' perception of treatment. For the experimental group, data collection will take place at four different times: before treatment begins, after treatment ends, and at 6 and 12 months after the end of treatment. Control group participants will be assessed on three occasions: before and after the waiting period and after receiving treatment. The efficacy of GSH will be established by comparing the change in the two groups on the main variables. We will also identify the characteristics of patients associated with improvement during treatment and document their perception of treatment.
This is an open-label, multicenter, extension study. Patients who are receiving clinical benefit from atezolizumab monotherapy or atezolizumab in combination with other agent(s) or comparator agent(s) during participation in a Genentech or Roche-sponsored study (the parent study), who are eligible to continue treatment and who do not have access to the study treatment locally, may continue to receive study treatment in this extension study following roll-over from the parent study.
The purpose of this clinical study was to evaluate whether healthy adults, who sometimes take drugs for pleasure, are likely to abuse GRT0151Y. This abuse potential is assessed at three different doses of GRT0151Y. During a Qualification Phase, a single dose of hydromorphone IR 8 mg and a single dose of placebo were separately administered orally over 4 days in a randomized, double-blinded manner. During the Treatment Phase, single doses of GRT0151Y free base (100 mg, 200 mg and 400 mg), hydromorphone Immediate-release (IR) (4 mg, 8 mg, and 16 mg), and placebo were administered orally over 7 Treatment Periods. Participants received the treatments according to a 7-sequence, 7-period balanced design.
Musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries, including limb injuries, are the most common cause for Emergency Department (ED) visits for children with pain. Broken arms and legs are known to cause moderate to severe pain in most children, yet previous research shows that children's pain in the emergency department is still under-treated. Further, children are less likely to receive appropriate pain medicine than adults with similar injuries. The purpose of this research study is to compare the effectiveness and safety of 3 different possible medication combinations, for the pain management of children with acute MSK limb injuries. The pain medicines the investigators are studying are ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin), acetaminophen (Tylenol/Tempra), and hydromorphone (Dilaudid). This study will consist of 2 trials that will be run simultaneously. Eligible caregiver/ child pairs presenting to the emergency department with acute MSK limb injury will decide in which trial they wish to participate: the Opioid trial or the Non-Opioid trial. If they select the Non-opioid trial, they will have an equal chance of receiving either (a) Ibuprofen OR (b) Ibuprofen and acetaminophen. If they select the Opioid trial, they will have an equal chance of receiving either (a) Ibuprofen OR (b) Ibuprofen and acetaminophen OR (c) Ibuprofen and hydromorphone. Regardless of which study they choose, their child will, at minimum, receive Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) for their pain. All study medicines will be given in oral liquid form. This study will help the investigators figure out which pain medicine or combination of pain medicines works best for children with limb injuries. Promotion of adequate acute pain treatment of children presenting to the ED may help prevent the known short and long-term effects of inadequately treated pain in children, including unpleasant memories, stress and anxiety upon future visits to healthcare, and compromised functional outcomes such as missed school.
