NCT ID: NCT06017232 Completed - Parkinson Disease Clinical Trials

Telerehabilitation for Dysautonomia in Parkinson's Disease

PKT
Start date: June 13, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

People diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (PD) exhibit a combination of motor and non-motor symptoms, with the latter posing challenges in terms of identification and management. These non-motor symptoms tend to manifest before the motor symptoms and progressively worsen over time, significantly impacting the symptoms and everyday life activities of those affected. However, there remains a noticeable lack of scientific literature addressing the assessment and rehabilitation of cardiovascular dysautonomia in PD patients. Thus, our research aims to address this gap by pursuing the following objectives: 1) assess the feasibility, acceptability, and potential effectiveness of a hybrid telerehabilitation program designed to target cardiovascular health in individuals with Parkinson's disease; and 2) characterize cardiovascular dysautonomia using non-invasive measurements of cardiovascular and autonomic nervous system (ANS) function and self-reported symptom assessments.

NCT ID: NCT06003114 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

A Study to Understand the Use of Palbociclib in Canadian Patients With Breast Cancer That Has Spread to Other Organs

Start date: October 6, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this real-world study is to understand the use of palbociclib as first treatment for Hormone receptor positive (HR+) and Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative (HER2-) metastatic breast cancer in Canada (PALCAN). The real-world study is not a research study. It involves real patients who receive medicines prescribed by their doctors in the real world. Metastatic breast cancer is the type which has spread from breast to other organs. HR positive stands for Hormone-receptor cells that have a protein on their surface that binds to one of 2 types of hormones. They are estrogen or progesterone. Both these hormones help cancer cells grow. HER2 negative describes cells that have a small amount or none of a protein called HER2 on their surface. In normal cells, HER2 helps control cell growth. Cancer cells that are HER2 negative may grow more slowly and are less likely to come back or spread to other parts of the body. This study will mainly measure: - duration of treatment (from start of treatment till end of treatment) among a group of patients taking palbociclib (Ibrance) in combination with hormone therapy as first line treatment for HR+ HER2- metastatic breast cancer.

NCT ID: NCT05993962 Completed - Clinical trials for Vitamin B 12 Deficiency

Effect of Daily Consumption of Vitamin B12 Fortified Yoghurt on Vitamin B12 Status in Older Adults

Start date: January 10, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Older adults are recommended to meet their daily vitamin B12 (B12) requirements by consuming foods with added B12 and/or taking B12 supplements (i.e. sources of free B12) because of an age-related decreased digestion and absorption capacity for food-bound B12. Currently, B12 is not added to foods in Canada, except for simulated dairy and meat products. Yoghurt with added B12 is a novel dairy product that could fill a gap that presently exists in the Canadian market and has the potential to provide Canadian older adults with an alternative dietary source of B12 that could help improve their B12 status. Thus, the objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of the daily consumption of one serving of yoghurt fortified with B12 versus unfortified yoghurt for 8 weeks on the B12 status of healthy older adults, assessed using serum total B12. The primary hypothesis of this study was that the daily consumption of B12-fortified yoghurt would increase serum total B12 concentration of older adults compared to the consumption of unfortified yoghurts.

NCT ID: NCT05985590 Completed - Healthy Volunteers Clinical Trials

A Study to Investigate the Effects of BMS-986278 on Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol Drug Levels in Healthy Female Participants

NCT ID: NCT05983484 Completed - Cardiac Arrhythmia Clinical Trials

Holter Versus Skiin Garments

Start date: October 16, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this observational study is to compare the electrocardiogram recording from Holter monitor with textile sensors (in the form of clothing) in patients diagnosed with arrhythmia. The study aims to answer the following questions: - Can the textile sensors provide continuous monitoring and detect arrhythmias? - Do patients prefer to wear textile sensors instead of the Holter? Participants that need Holter monitoring as part of their standard care will be invited to participate in the study. They will simultaneously wear both, the Holter monitor and the textile sensors for the time prescribed by their physician. Participants will also be asked to answer a questionnaire in the initial assessment and at the end of the study.
