NCT ID: NCT04591366 Active, not recruiting - Infection Clinical Trials

Barrier-Protect Study

Start date: November 25, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the effect of an iodine impregnated barrier dressing on device pocket swab culture positivity. Minimizing contamination during the implant procedure can be one of the potential improvements to prevent CIED infections. Patients requiring a lead change, battery change or device upgrade will be eligible. This is a randomized, blinded study where participants will be randomized to having the barrier dressing applied before any incision is made (experimental group) or applying the dressing just prior to collecting the culture swab (control group). Patients and the staff taking the culture swab at the end of the procedure are blinded as to which group the participant is randomized to.

NCT ID: NCT04591210 Active, not recruiting - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

The COVID-RASi Trial (COVID-19)

Start date: January 27, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The COVID-RASi study is an international randomized clinical trial that will evaluate the potential benefit of angiotensin modulators on clinical outcomes, in COVID-19 patients. The purpose of this study is to determine if renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASi), with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB), has a beneficial effect in patients with COVID-19 infections, by reducing ICU admission, ventilator requirement or death. We would also like to determine if there are differences between ACEi and ARB therapeutic treatments. With the increasing potential of long COVID symptoms, at the 1 year follow up, a primary endpoint will be the quality of life of study participants, as assessed by ongoing symptoms and/or the standardized questionnaires.

NCT ID: NCT04591184 Completed - SARS-CoV-2 Clinical Trials

A Clinical Trial of a Prophylactic Plasmid DNA Vaccine for COVID-19 [Covigenix VAX-001] in Adults

Start date: April 7, 2021
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is a Phase I/II clinical study in healthy adults designed to assess the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of receiving 2 IM injections of Covigenix VAX-001/-1b, 28 days apart. Covigenix VAX-001/-1b is a plasmid DNA vaccine that expresses key antigenic determinants from SARS-CoV-2 and uses Entos Pharmaceuticals' Fusogenix PLV platform. The phase I part of this study was completed in Canada. The phase II part of the study will be completed in Burkina Faso, Senegal and South Africa.

NCT ID: NCT04591158 Completed - Covid19 Clinical Trials

COVID-19 and Lung Ultrasound Utility

Start date: September 15, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Ultrasounds are usually done by a specially trained health professional in the hospital or emergency department (ED) setting. Using a novel single-probe device, the ultrasound can be plugged into an iOS / Android device. The purpose of this research is to assess the usefulness of lung ultrasound imaging, performed by the patient in the home setting for the management of the COVID-19 disease using this novel highly-portable ultrasound.

NCT ID: NCT04591041 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Educational Problems

HoloSIM: Mixed Reality Medical Student Training in Complex Crisis Scenarios

HoloSIM
Start date: August 24, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this study, Investigators will test a mixed reality software platform to improve and help for teaching and assessment of anesthesia crisis management among medical students.

NCT ID: NCT04590963 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck

Assessment of Efficacy and Safety of Monalizumab Plus Cetuximab Compared to Placebo Plus Cetuximab in Recurrent or Metastatic Head and Neck Cancer

INTERLINK-1
Start date: October 2, 2020
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a randomized, double-blind, multicenter, global Phase 3 study to assess the efficacy and safety of monalizumab and cetuximab, compared to placebo and cetuximab, in Participants with recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer.

NCT ID: NCT04590911 Completed - Aging Clinical Trials

Effectiveness of Multimodal Cognitive Rehabilitation for Traumatic Brain Injury Sustained During Older Adulthood

Start date: September 1, 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In a worldwide context of accelerated demographic aging, traumatic brain injury (TBI) in older adults has become a public health problem. TBI incidence grows following an exponential curve as people get older, increasing the occurrence of TBI in ageing individuals. Rehabilitation programs used in clinical settings have generally been developed for younger adults, and their efficacy with older adults who sustain a TBI has not been evaluated. The investigators have tailored a modular cognitive rehabilitation program for individuals who sustain a TBI in older adulthood, the Cognitive Enrichment Program (CEP), by adapting approaches which have shown to be effective in normal ageing and with other neurological conditions. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the CEP in adults having sustained a TBI during later adulthood. Specific objectives are to evaluate the effectiveness on memory, executive functions, psychological well-being and daily life activities using psychometric tests, self-reported questionnaires, and daily life-like tasks. The investigators hypothesize that memory and executive functions training included in the CEP will result in an improvement in both psychometric and self-reported scores in a trained group of older individuals with TBI, whereas this will not be the case for a comparable TBI group who did not receive the CEP intervention.

NCT ID: NCT04590248 Completed - Clinical trials for Uterine Serous Carcinoma

A Study of Adavosertib as Treatment for Uterine Serous Carcinoma

ADAGIO
Start date: November 30, 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This Phase 2b study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of adavosertib, an inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase WEE1, in subjects with recurrent or persistent uterine serous carcinoma (USC) who have previously received at least 1 prior platinum-based chemotherapy regimen for the management of USC.

NCT ID: NCT04590092 Recruiting - Pregnancy Related Clinical Trials

Pessary Use for Stress Urinary Incontinence in Pregnancy

Start date: February 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

When women are pregnant they are more likely to leak urine which can severely affect their quality of life. This problem could be fixed by using a pessary. A pessary is a silicone ring that goes into the vagina which can stop or improve urinary leakage. These devices have been safely used for hundreds of years. However, pessaries has not been studied for urinary leakage in pregnancy. The investigators would like to compare severity of urinary leakage using a number of questionnaires during the last 3 months of pregnancy for women using a pessary versus women without a pessary.
