There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a single dose of gabapentin, given before cesarean section, will reduce pain in the initial 24 hours after surgery. Gabapentin has been very effective at treating pain after knee and hip operations, hysterectomies, and many other types of surgeries. We believe that it may be effective for treating pain after cesarean sections, but it has never been studied for this purpose.
The purpose of this study is to determine if PI-88 is effective and safe in patients who have had surgery to remove primary liver cancer.
The purpose of this study is to assess whether or not inhaled nitric oxide can decrease myocardial infarction (MI) size at 48-72 hours in patients presenting with an ST segment elevation MI (STEMI) who undergo successful percutaneous coronary intervention.
- The inflammatory process that leads to the development of asthma may be present before the onset of asthma symptoms and cause a certain degree of airway hyperresponsiveness. Without treatment it may induce irreversible airway structural changes that are associated with permanent changes in airway functions, persistent airway hyperresponsiveness and lead to the development of asthma symptoms. - Atopic subjects with asymptomatic airway hyperresponsiveness and first degree relatives with a history of asthma are at higher risk to develop symptomatic asthma. Early treatment of airway inflammation in these predisposed subjects with " borderline " or mild airway hyper-responsiveness could prevent the development of asthma symptoms, and reduce or even normalize airway responsiveness. - In very mild asthmatic subjects (bronchodilator need < thrice a week), early anti-inflammatory treatment can lead to " normalisation " or airway responsiveness in a significant number of subjects and prevent the need for subsequent regular therapy. This is particularly true for those showing blood/sputum eosinophilia. Objectives: To compare perception of bronchoconstriction, pulmonary function and airway inflammation in subjects with mild symptomatic asthma and asymptomatic asymptomatic airway hyperresponsiveness Methods: To compare the influence of inhaled fluticasone propionate 250 mcg/day for 3 months followed by 100 mcg/day for 9 months on airway inflammation and methacholine responsiveness in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel groups study including non-smoking atopic subjects with mild asthma and asymptomatic airway hyperresponsiveness
The purpose of this study is to evaluate two different currently accepted surgical treatments for UAS (ulnocarpal abutment syndrome). The hypothesis is that ulnar shortening osteotomy procedure will be associated with longer surgical time and increased complication rate when compared to the wafer procedure. It is unclear as to whether there will be a difference in functional outcome between the two groups.
The objective of this trial is to examine if regional anesthetic blockade of the anterior abdominal wall via the transversus abdominis plane is a safe and feasible method of providing analgesia for children undergoing gastric tube insertion.
To compare the livebirth rate of women with recurrent pregnancy loss and autoantibodies randomized to either low molecular weight heparin plus aspirin versus aspirin alone.
Radiotherapy is standard treatment for breast cancer after lumpectomy. Although this treatment showed substantial patient benefits and decrease of local recurrence and deaths from breast cancer, it also results in some severe late side-effects, such as skin fibrosis and cardiac failure. It's possible to offer breast irradiation (RT) and minimizing toxicities radiation dose to skin, lung and heart. This will be achieved with highly conformal RT delivery using Tomotherapy. We plan to evaluate this approach in clinical study. We plan also to evaluate the value of genomic, cellular and functional imaging endpoints as predictive markers of toxicity in our breast cancer population. This program is expected to prospectively validate that Tomotherapy for breast RT can decrease skin, lung and heart toxicities and maintaining excellent cancer control after lumpectomy.
This protocol is designed to assess the efficacy and safety of inotuzumab ozogamicin given with rituximab compared to a defined investigator's choice therapy. Subjects will be randomized to one of these two arms of the study.
To compare the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetics of ABT-874 to placebo in subjects who have moderately to severely active Crohn's Disease.
