NCT ID: NCT01925651 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Clinical Trial of The Use of Bolus in Post Mastectomy Irradiation in Breast Cancer

Start date: August 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of adding bolus in adjuvant radiotherapy after mastectomy, in relation to the time of treatment interruption and acute effects. This study evaluates whether there is an increase in treatment time with the addition of the bolus, which can overshadow the benefit of increased dose to the skin and subcutaneous tissue. The patients will continue to be followed for oncologic outcomes, focusing on chest wall local control.

NCT ID: NCT01925508 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Pre-eclampsia or Eclampsia With Pre-existing Hypertension

Evaluation of a Physical Therapy Protocol on Quality of Life Musculoskeletal Pain and Anxiety in Women With Preeclampsia

Start date: July 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to verify that the implementation of a protocol physiotherapy musculoskeletal pain and reduces anxiety and improves quality of life in patients hospitalized at the clinic of high-risk pregnancies at the Hospital das Clinicas of Ribeirao Preto, with a diagnosis of preeclampsia and chronic hypertension with superimposed preeclampsia. Where patients will be recruited, answered questionnaires before and after application of physiotherapy protocol.

NCT ID: NCT01925443 Suspended - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus Non-insulin-dependent

Effects of Low Power Laser Therapy on Muscle Performance Isokinetic Pre-exercise in Individuals With Diabetes Mellitus Type II

Start date: December 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The low level laser therapy is able to improve immediately and long term (after 4 weeks of treatment, 3 days per week resulting in 12 applications of low level laser therapy) isokinetic muscle performance of the quadriceps femoris muscle (peak torque, total muscular work , maximum power and fatigue index - normalized by body weight) pre-exercise concentric isokinetic quadriceps femoris muscle in subjects with diabetes mellitus non-insulin-dependent.

NCT ID: NCT01925001 Withdrawn - Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Trials

Phase 2 Study of MP4CO to Treat Vaso-occlusive Sickle Crisis

Start date: October 2013
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Sickle Cell disease is caused by an inherited hemoglobin disorder. Healthy red blood cells are discoid and can deform and move through small blood vessels to carry oxygen to all parts of the body. In Sickle Cell disease, as red blood cells circulate and oxygen is released, the deoxygenated abnormal Hemoglobin S can begin to polymerize and cause red cells to become sticky and elongated. These "sickled" red cells are less flexible and will obstruct small blood vessels and prevent normal red cells from circulating freely, which limits oxygen delivery to tissues and organs. This is known as a "sickling crisis" or "vaso-occlusive crisis" and is the leading cause of hospitalization in patients with Sickle Cell disease. Patients suffering from a sickle crisis experience severe pain and are at risk of stroke, heart attack or even death. Current therapy is limited to hydration and symptomatic pain relief. The administration of MP4CO as an adjunct treatment to standard therapy may alleviate pain associated with a sickling crisis and potentially reduce the severity and duration of a crisis. This may shorten the time in hospital and potentially improve the quality of life for patients with sickle cell anemia.

NCT ID: NCT01924611 Completed - Dental Caries Clinical Trials

Two Years Survival Rate of Class II ART Restorations in Primary Molars Using Two Ways to Avoid Saliva Contamination

Start date: September 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

AIM: To evaluate influence of two methods to avoid saliva contamination on the survival rate of atraumatic restorations in primary molars. 232 children, aged between 6-7 years, of both genders, were selected having one primary molar with a proximal dentine lesion. The children were randomly divided into two groups: a control group with class II ART restoration made using cotton rolls and an experimental group using rubber dam. The restorations were made and they were followed up every six months. After two years, the results were compilated and analyzed.

NCT ID: NCT01924507 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Acute Myocardial Infarction

Bedside Sleep Medicine

Start date: August 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators aimed to evaluated the role of bedside sleep medicine in an cardiology intensive care unit. The patients will be submitted to a overnight polysomnography. Those individuals with sleep apnea will be treated with CPAP during the ICU admission. Also, the investigators will identify the factors that compromise the sleep and will act to minimize them to improve the sleep quality. After the interventions, the investigators will evaluate if there are reduced days of hospital admission, major cardiovascular events (infarction, reinfarction, heart failure and stroke) and overall mortality.

NCT ID: NCT01923597 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Effect of Green Tea (Epigallocatechin Gallate) on Albuminuria in Patients With Diabetic Nephropathy.

Start date: November 2013
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effect of green tea (epigallocatechin gallate) in albuminuria in diabetic patients and nephropathy.

NCT ID: NCT01923168 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Study of Letrozole With or Without BYL719 or Buparlisib, for the Neoadjuvant Treatment of Postmenopausal Women

Start date: March 11, 2014
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study was to determine whether treatment with a PI3K inhibitor plus letrozole led to an increase in pathologic clinical response and Objective Response Rate compared to treatment with placebo plus letrozole in patients with Breast cancer.
