The purpose of this study is to provide confirmatory evidence of the safety and efficacy of two Dysport® doses (600 units [U] and 800 U), compared to placebo in reducing urinary incontinence (UI) in adult subjects treated for neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) due to spinal cord injury (SCI) or multiple sclerosis (MS).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of prebiotic or synbiotic supplementation on inflammatory response and indicators of nutritional status in patients with morbid obesity. Study hypothesis: Supplementation of 12 g/day of fructooligosaccharides (prebiotic) or 12 g/day of fructooligosaccharides + strains of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria (synbiotic) during 30 days promotes reduction of plasma/serum levels of acute phase proteins, cytokines, metabolic and anthropometric parameters in individuals with BMI ≥ 40kg/m².
A crossover trial with healthy volunteers will be conducted. Six sessions will be performed once a week in a counterbalanced order and at least with seven days washout period to minimize carry-over effects. In each session, volunteers will be submitted to quantity and quality of sleep, type of eating, fatigue and motivation level, cortical brain activity measures through paired pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (ppTMS), spinal cord activity measures through electrical stimulation, non-invasive spinal stimulation (tsDCS) or non-invasive brain stimulation (rTMS) and physical exercise (gait training).

Cerebrovascular disease is a major cause of disability worldwide. The catastrophic burden of stroke is more dramatic in low- and middle- income countries, and the scarcity of evidence-based rehabilitation interventions represents a major challenge to global health care. Upper limb weakness is frequent after stroke, but there is no universally accepted treatment to effectively improve hand function in patients with moderate and severe motor impairment. These are the patients in deepest need of rehabilitative interventions. This project addresses this important issue, by testing effects of a novel approach. The investigators will non-invasively stimulate peripheral nerves in order to enhance effects of motor training aided by an electrical stimulation device in patients with moderate to severe hand weakness. Our hypothesis is that peripheral nerve stimulation will enhance effects of motor training in patients in the chronic stage after stroke.

It will be done a randomized triple-blind study comparing 0,2% polidocanol versus 75% hypertonic glucose of sclerotherapy in lower limbs´ telangiectasis. It will be included only adult women with reticular veins on the side of the thighs and mild venous insufficiency (CEAP 1). The primary endpoint will be efficacy, and secondary will be safety.
The association between low level laser and auricular acupuncture can be an alternative when conventional drugs are contraindicated or to reduce the quantity of these postoperative medications. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of low level laser at auriculotherapy points in reducing postoperative pain in lower third molar surgery. Eighty third molars surgeries will be performed in 40 healthy patients by a split-mouth design. Immediately after surgery, each side of the patient's mouth will be randomly treated with different regimens in a double-blind design: low level laser in auricular acupuncture points or simulation of its use. This treatment will be performed at 24 and 48 hours after surgery. The primary variable is the post-operative pain. The secondary variables are trismus, edema and local temperature. They will be assessed at baseline, 24 hours, 48 hours and seven days after surgery.The blood samples for analysis of systemic inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, interleukin 1, interleukin 6 and interleukin 8) will be assessed at baseline and 24 hours after surgery.
4 consecutive days with volunteers between the first and fourth postoperative period of cardiac valve replacement. The volunteers are randomized into 2 groups: the Control Group submitted to cardiac rehabilitation protocol of the hospital where it will be conducted the study, which consists of respiratory and metabolic exercises. The second group, called Early Mobilization Group in addition to the aforementioned exercises will be added exercise in cycle ergometer. For the implementation of rehabilitation protocol in the early mobilization group volunteers will be placed in a sitting position in the bed with the backrest raised to 45 °. The exercise in cycle ergometer will be held for 20 minutes on four consecutive days of active mode, the training load shall be such that the voluntary maintained throughout training a level of fatigue, maintaining level of heart rate predicted for age increased by 70% and 1 w / cm2 every minute to keep the parameter within the standards. The evaluation of heart rate variability with the Polar monitor RS800CX brand model before surgery was performed first postoperative day and fifth postoperative day in the control groups and early mobilization.
