Filter by:The purpose of this research is to test an intervention designed to identify cancer needs and connect patients with services that address those needs. Participation in this research will involve completing 2 online surveys over the course of 1 month; each should take about 15 minutes to complete.
An intervention study on the effect of cannabidiol on lean body mass in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, at the department of Clinical Oncology at Zealand University Hospital, Roskilde, Denmark. Fat free mass will be measured by bioimpedance spectroscopy. As secondary outcomes protein and energy intake, nausea, taste alterations and life quality will be assessed by oral interviews and questionnaires.
This is a prospective, multisite, descriptive, observational clinical/epidemiological study examining both quantitative and qualitative data pertaining to clinical outcomes and organizational responses to the 2020 SARS-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic.
A feasibility RCT comprising two groups: 1. Intervention (SELF-BREATHE in addition to standard NHS care) 2. Control group (standard / currently available NHS care)
With the growing number of cancer survivors, challenges to deal with comorbidities and impacted quality of life of cancer survivors by the disease and treatments also surge. Symptoms and Adverse Events are common and insufficiently monitored in real time / real life, which leads to increased symptom burden, treatment delays and unplanned hospital admissions. Remote monitoring apps have been shown to improve quality of life, symptom control and survival in published clinical trials, but no data with such interventions exists on the Portuguese population. We will conduct a pilot study to explore the feasibility of a mobile app for remote symptom monitoring in cancer patients. Patients will be recruited in Portuguese hospitals and will be invited to test the app for one month. Patient experience and satisfaction will be assessed via a weekly survey. The results of this pilot study will inform subsequent randomized clinical trials to test safety and efficacy of remote monitoring and lifestyle interventions to improve symptoms control and quality of life.
The purpose of this research project is to evaluate the impact of virtual reality therapy on mitigating cancer pain in hospitalized patients with cancer and compare this impact to that of 2-dimensional guided imagery distraction therapy. The purpose is also to evaluate acceptability of and satisfaction with virtual reality therapy and to examine racial and cultural preferences related to virtual reality and guided imagery thematic content.
Study of ApricityRx™ for Management of IR-AEs for patients on I-O therapy. Patients currently receiving immunotherapy will be asked to consent to participate in ApricityRx software platform mobile telephone application to report symptoms, view educational content in video form about IO and irAEs and communicate with site study team.
Cancer patients are considered vulnerable to COVID-19 infection. During the pandemic, cancer patients may need to continue their regular treatment of chemotherapy and / or radiotherapy and therefore must visit a hospital unit. As such, they may be at risk for SARS-CoV-2 infection by means of close contact to other patients and health care workers. Hospitals may implement policies to identify symptomatic subjects and limit their access to the chemotherapy / radiotherapy unit. However, asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients may escape these filters and potentially be contagious to other patients and their health-related workers that care for other several patients. Therefore, there is a real risk of an outbreak that affects a particularly fragile patient population. Patients and their doctors need to know what is the risk associated to visiting a chemotherapy unit in order to decide if the risk outweighs the benefits of cancer treatment in their particular case. To date, this risk is unknown. The study will test patients and health care workers for COVID-19 infection during the peak of the pandemic in a chemotherapy unit in Mexico in order to determine this risk.
Multicentric prospective study with collection of biological samples as part of type II research
This is a randomized pilot trial to test the feasibility and acceptability (primary outcomes) of a virtual cognitive behavioral program for insomnia for survivors of various cancer types. Secondary outcomes are to examine the preliminary effects on reducing insomnia severity from baseline to post-intervention.
