Filter by:This registry will make it possible to describe real life management of patients with rare actionable fusions and to better understand these cancers. In addition of clinical data from the medical files, a quality of life questionnaire (QLQ-C30) will be complete at inclusion, at each new treatment and then every 6 months. The patients will be followed for a period of at least 2 years after the inclusion. This TRacKING registry is a European collaborative tool to improve the management of patients with actionable fusions, by sharing of data from rare tumor indications.
The County Council of Region Skåne, Sweden, has recently initiated Targeted Health Dialogues in primary care. The prevention program includes health dialogues provided by specially trained personnel, collection of clinical and laboratory data as well as questionnaire data on, e.g., individual health and health behaviors. So far, it enrolls all 40-year old Swedish and foreign-born inhabitants in the county and it will also include all 50- and 60-year old persons within a near future. A research project will be integrated within the program where the collected data will be linked, on the individual level, to national and regional data on hospital admissions, clinical diagnoses from specialist clinics and primary care, causes of death, and prescriptions. The individual linkages will also include population data on sociodemographic characteristics, neighborhood of residence and family relations. Blood samples will be collected for analyses of molecular biomarkers. The research project will examine associations between potential predictors and future risk of cardiovascular diseases and other serious diseases, such as cancer, and also whether the effect of the prevention program is modified by these potential predictors. The effect of the intervention will be examined, and whether the protocol needs to be modified in order to develop more precise and personalized medicine.
The Advisory Board on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy provides a platform where physicians from all over the world can request recommendations regarding the medical care of pregnant women diagnosed with cancer or regarding fertility preservation. The platform will contain different national advisory boards, with their own coordinator and members, as well as an overarching international advisory board with an international coordinator and members from different national boards. To investigate the impact of this platform, a year after its launch, data regarding the incoming requests will be extracted from the website, as well as all recommendation letters.
Assessment of the utility of family-based (trio) whole-genome sequencing for cancer predisposition testing in sequential newly diagnosed paediatric and adolescent cancer patients
The MR BIO study aims to understand the changes in the tumour and normal tissues during a course of radiotherapy. This is accomplished by studying the MR images taken during each treatment session on the MR Linear accelerator (MR Linac). The overarching hypothesis is that changes in MR imaging and biological parameters from blood, tissue, or urine biomarkers can be measured during radiotherapy and associated with clinical outcome. The MR Linac is a new radiotherapy machine with an on board MR scanner. This enables us to take images with high resolution and target the tumours more precisely and also reduce the dose to normal tissues. All patients undergoing treatment in the MR Linac at the Christie hospital will be considered for enrolment regardless of tumour site being treated. The study participants will receive the standard of care treatment for their disease condition. In addition, they will be requested to give weekly blood and urine samples during the course of radiotherapy and at first follow up. On completion of radiotherapy treatment, the participants will continue to be on standard of care follow up protocol with the treating oncologist. A small cohort of ten healthy volunteers will also be recruited to the study to develop and select some of the MR sequences only; they will not provide blood or urine samples. The healthy volunteers will be scanned for no more than one hour per session for a maximum of two sessions in total. These optimised sequences can then be used in the patient cohort.
The main purpose of this study is to determine the treatment effects, feasibility, and acceptability of an internet-based cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention to improve the sleep of Portuguese cancer survivors with insomnia.
Based on recent data, COVID (COV) vaccination in cancer patients (pts) is strictly recommended. For oncologic pts,2 types of m-RNA vaccines have been approved: BNT162b2 (Pfizer, Biontech) and mRNA-1273 (Moderna, NIAID). In immunocompetent population, the administration of 2 doses confers 95% protection against COV. However, protection conferred by vaccines, adverse events (AEs) and correlations with antiblastic treatments are unknown in cancer pts.
This study uses a novel, recently developed unconventional radiotherapy technique which consists of three high-dose fractions directed to special segments of unresectable bulky tumors.
Patients with cancer often suffer from a symptom cluster, including pain, fatigue, sleep difficulties, emotional distress and cognitive impairments. In oncology settings, there is a growing interest in "mind-body" intervention, to relieve them in a non-pharmacological way. Hypnosis and meditation are two modified state of consciousness shown to positively this symptom cluster. Cognitive trance is also a modified state of consciousness, but is induced by body movements and/or vocalizations. Subjective reports of experts in cognitive trance showed a modification of self, emotion regulation, pain perception, attention and concentration. However, we still need to develop studies to better characterise this particular state of consciousness and its clinical applications. Our randomized-controlled trial aims at comparing both interventions in terms of (1) benefits on cancer patients' quality of life (pain, fatigue, sleep, distress, cognitive impairments), (2) phenomenological/subjective experiences and neurophysiological correlates, and (3) mechanisms involved in patients' responsiveness, based on the biopsychosocial model of hypnosis.
This proposal aims to leverage ongoing community outreach efforts and the Cancer Center's aims to improve recruitment to clinical trials by educating the catchment and making referrals to engage current UCCC patients not taking advantage of available CTs at this institution and affiliated hospitals. The Cancer Prevention and Control Program within UCCC works to develop and evaluate novel approaches to primary prevention, disseminate preventative interventions in population-based settings, and to improve health services delivery and outcomes for cancer patients and survivors. A primary emphasis is placed on those from underrepresented populations, including Hispanics, residents of outlying rural areas, and those in areas of poverty. Efforts to meet the Cancer Center's priorities include interventions to promote awareness and recruitment of eligible patients to available CTs in the catchment area (the state of Colorado).
