Filter by:The purpose of this study is to determine whether patients with advanced cancers who receive AVR118 solution for injection into the skin can achieve improvement in quality of life. Based on a study in patients with AIDS, possible benefits may include improved appetite and strength; weight gain; improved mood; and decreased fatigue. For the first three weeks, some patients receive AVR118, and others receive placebo (an injection expected to have no benefits). After three weeks, all patients will be offered the opportunity to take injections of AVR118.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether, in children with cancer presenting with fever in severe chemotherapy-induced neutropenia at low risk for medical complications, oral antibiotics in an outpatient setting after an initial phase of intravenous antibiotics and in-hospital observation for 8 to 22 hours, is not inferior as to safety and efficacy compared to continued intravenous antibiotics given in-hospital.
For primary objectives, we will determine the MTD and examine clinical responses and immune cell populations to determine an OBD, and describe the safety and tolerability of MEDI-507. For the secondary objectives we will look at the antitumor activity of MEDI 507, PK, serum concentrations, and immunogenicity of MEDI-507, as well as time courses of depletion and recovery of CD2 positive and total T-Cell populations.

The proposed study is designed to investigate the efficacy and safety of M40403 when co-administered with an opioid in subjects with pain due to cancer.
RATIONALE: Mycophenolate mofetil added to immunosuppressive treatment regimens may be effective in treating newly diagnosed chronic graft-versus-host disease caused by stem cell transplantation. It is not yet known whether immunosuppressive treatment regimens are more effective with or without mycophenolate mofetil in treating chronic graft-versus-host disease. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying whether the addition of mycophenolate mofetil improves the efficacy of immunosuppressive treatment regimens in patients with newly diagnosed chronic graft-versus-host disease.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of epoetin alfa in treating anemia in patients who have cancer or who no longer have any signs of the cancer, but remain anemic as a result of their treatment.
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if the drug nesiritide (Natrecor) is effective in lowering the pressure in your lungs. The primary objective of this study is to establish that Nesiritide (Natrecor) is effective in reducing pulmonary hypertension (PHTN) acutely as measured by a 20% reduction in the mean pulmonary arterial (PA) pressure. The secondary objectives will include: improvement in pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), patient symptoms, exercise tolerance, frequency of toxicity, and surgeon's willingness to proceed with operation.
