There are no prospective, randomized studies addressing vaginal penetration restrictions following mid-urethral slings. There is a single cohort study examining expedited recovery following vaginal prolapse repair which advised 3-weeks of vaginal penetration restrictions. This study reported an earlier return to intercourse in the 3-week group than in the retrospectively collected control group where 6-weeks of restriction were advised. This study did not evaluate the impact of early versus later return to sexual activity on wound complications, mesh exposure rates, pain or satisfaction. It is important to develop evidenced-based recommendations on post-operative sexual activity restrictions. The purpose of this research study is to understand if the "standard" 6-week restriction on vaginal penetration/intercourse after mid-urethral sling affects patient satisfaction
The purpose of this study is to investigate how pain resilience (as a personality characteristic or a strength) moderate the efficacy of treatment for patients with migraine. The primary objective of the current study is to explore the moderation effect of pain resilience between initial pain and the treatment outcome of the holistic healthcare programs. The investigators hypothesize that participants with higher level of pain resilience will show more improvements in the quality of life, less disability (assessed with the Migraine Disability Assessment Test, MIDAS), less frequency and lower severity of pain, and higher heart-rate variability after training. A secondary finding that can be obtained through the study is the comparison between the enhancement of heart rate variability in participants receiving different kinds of non-pharmacological therapies.
The aim of this study will be to compare the effects of morphine versus ketamine when they are used as adjuvants to the local anesthetic in paravertebral nerve blocks performed with the aid of ultrasound. Furthermore, a group of local anesthetic without an adjuvant, will also be compared to the two groups
In France, alcohol consumption is the second most common cause of so-called preventable cancers after tobacco. Since 2014, in the "Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur" (PACA) region, the association Santé! has been developing an innovative intervention to support people suffering from alcohol-related addiction. This intervention, called IACA! must therefore be evaluated on a larger scale before conclusions about its effectiveness can be drawn from a comparative trial. This evaluation requires significant human and material resources. It is therefore recommended to first assess the transferability of IACA! in other care centers in a pilot study.
Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is the moderate impairment of a mental abilities to perform intellectual activities eg memory, calculation, communication... MCI is a disorder that can occur earlier than dementia such as Alzheimer's disease. It is believed that there are several factors involved such as inflammation and oxidative stress which is the production of reactive oxygen species that damage cells. This clinical study tries to evaluate that a treatment already approved by the AEMPS, EGb 761® (Tebofortan), could reduce the levels of markers of inflammation and oxidation in the blood.
Group 1 (BBV154): In this group, 3000 participants will be recruited, randomized in 1:1:1 ratio receive 3 consecutive lots (Lot 1: 1000, Lot 2: 1000, Lot 3: 1000) of the BBV154 vaccine (0.5 mL each dose) on day 0 and day 28 via intranasal route. Group 2 (COVAXIN®): In this group, 160 participants will be recruited and administered with COVAXIN® vaccine on day 0 and on day 28 via intramuscular route. A total sample size of 3160 healthy volunteer's age's ≥18 years will be recruited in this study. BBV154-Subjects- Part 1 ( Immunogenicity Group)- First 640 Subjects BBV154-Subjects- Part 2 ( Safety Group)- (Remaining 2520 subjects) Visit 1: Baseline (Day 0) Visit 2 (Day 28+2) Visit 3 (Day 42 ± 7 days) Visit 4 (Day 90 ± 7 days) and Visit 5 (Day 180± 7 days)
This study aimed to investigate the potential effect of applying topical insulin therapy on the management and healing of postoperative wounds in patients known with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and in a parallel group without diabetes. Investigators also studied the effect of topical insulin therapy on the expression of e-cadherin and Ki67, as markers for cellular proliferation and wound repair. The levels of IL-6 and the H2O2-induced DNA damage product, 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), were assessed as markers for inflammation and oxidative stress. Finally, histomorphological assessment of skin biopsies was also carried out.
This is an open-label study of the use of MDMA Assisted Therapy for postpartum people with co-occurring Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). The study protocol has been adapted from the Phase 3 studies sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) for PTSD. Due to the high rate of concurrence of PTSD and OUD, people with OUD may experience great benefit from the treatment of their PTSD with MDMA-assisted therapy based on the phase 2 and 3 studies for PTSD. Use of MDMA-assisted therapy in this population has the potential to be of benefit for their OUD and maternal- infant attachment. This study will serve to explore the feasibility and safety of offering MDMA-assisted therapy for treatment of PTSD in postpartum people with opioid use disorder. The CAPs 5 (PTSD) is the primary outcome, the Timeline Follow-Back (TLFB) for opioid use is the secondary outcome and other assessments of opioid use disorder, effects on maternal-infant attachment, social connectedness and other mental health outcomes are exploratory. The study will be conducted at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center located in Albuquerque New Mexico. In addition to northern New Mexico being an epicenter of the current opioid use disorder epidemic in the United States there is a long-standing history of multigenerational use of illicit opioids in many communities of northern New Mexico. There are high rates of opioid use disorder on pregnancy and accompanying Neonatal Opioid Use Withdrawal Syndrome (NOWS) in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and surrounding communities.
This open-label study is of current Acuvue® Oasys® wearers (2 - week replacement, reusable lenses) who are satisfied with their current lenses. Subjects will be refit into one week reusable contact lenses and will wear lenses for approximately 2 weeks. Subjects will return for vision and lens fit assessments and will complete surveys about their wear experience.
This research project entails delivery of a personalized antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) drug designed for a single participant with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) due to a pathogenic variant in CHCHD10
