The objective is to determine the effectiveness of a multimodal educational intervention to reduce supplemental oxygen use in major burn patients. Investigators will also evaluate the safety and clinical effectiveness of the more targeted use of oxygen therapy.
Despite the widespread introduction of vaccines against Rotavirus, Rotavirus continues to be a cause of significant morbidity and mortality in the developing world. This study will assess protection against rotavirus infection and investigate immune correlates of protection following vaccination with a novel trivalent VP8 subunit rotavirus vaccine used alone or in combination with oral rotavirus vaccine.
The investigators aim to test whether inviting immigrants to breast cancer screening with a letter in their mother tongue in addition to the standard letter in Norwegian changes screening uptake in these immigrant groups, compared with a comparable group who receive the invitation in Norwegian only,
This is a Phase 3 double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study designed to investigate whether tafasitamab and lenalidomide as an add-on to rituximab provides improved clinical benefit compared with lenalidomide as an add-on to rituximab in patients with R/R FL Grade 1 to 3a or R/R MZL.
Background: Some multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions stay inflamed for very long periods of time. This type of inflammation is not affected by any MS medications. These lesions can lead to slow worsening of MS symptoms. Researchers want to see if a new drug can help. Objective: To see if tolebrutinib can help clear inflammation in MS brain lesions. Eligibility: Adults ages 18 and older with MS who are on an anti-CD20 therapy. Design: Participants will be screened under protocol #89-N-0045. Participants will have a medical history. They will have physical and neurological exams. They will have blood and urine tests. The progression of their MS will be assessed. Participants will have MRIs of the brain. The MRI scanner is shaped like a cylinder. It uses a magnetic field and radio waves to take pictures of the body. During the MRIs, participants will lie on a table that slides in and out of the scanner. Soft padding or a coil will be placed around their head. Participants may have electrocardiograms to measure the heart s electrical activity. Participants may have lumbar punctures ( spinal taps ). A small needle will be inserted into the spinal canal in the lower back. Fluid will be collected. Some participants will take tolebrutinib pills by mouth once a day for at least 96 weeks. They will stop their anti-CD20 therapy. They will have at least 10 study visits. Some participants will not take tolebrutinib. They will stay on their anti-CD20 therapy. They will have 5 study visits. Participation will last at least 96 weeks.
This clinical study seeks to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Pro-ocular™1% topical gel in patients with ocular Graft-versus-Host Disease who wear scleral lenses daily. This vehicle-controlled trial will evaluate the investigational drug's effect on signs and symptoms of ocular Graft-versus-Host Disease and on the hours of daily comfortable and serviceable scleral lens wear.
Smoking causes cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, cancers and diabetes, and it has been a leading risk factor for death globally. Despite the availability of smoking cessation services locally, most smokers do not use such services. Workplace is one of the most convenient platforms to provide smoking cessation services and over 55% of smokers are employed according to the local population-based survey. Moreover, The COVID-19 pandemic and new normal increase in mental health burden to people in the workplace. An online survey during the pandemic found 88% of Hong Kong employees suffered from stress at work during the past 7 days. Mental health can be both precursors and consequences of smoking. However, the effectiveness of a smoking cessation programme conducted in workplace is yet to be examined in Hong Kong, and the mental health support for smoking employees in promoting smoking cessation is not clear. Thus, this study aims to test, by a 2-arm RCT, the effectiveness of an intervention of which includes mobile phone-based intervention on reducing mental health symptoms and smoking cessation in workplaces in Hong Kong; identify facilitators and barriers of successful policy implementation and quitting; examine and evaluate the company environment and their policies in promoting smoking cessation.
This is a Phase 3, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluating the safety and efficacy of trilaciclib versus placebo administered prior to gemcitabine and carboplatin in patients receiving first- or second-line treatment for locally advanced unresectable/metastatic TNBC.
The randomized trials in this record will assess effectiveness, fidelity and cost of prevention and treatment interventions for HIV and hypertension with the objective of informing a population-based study of multi-sectored, multi-disease interventions for HIV.
Background: Exercise, or physical activity, is beneficial for all cancer survivors. Despite this knowledge, there is generally a gap between the evidence and practice. And this gap is widened with (a) underserved tumour groups in exercise oncology, such as neuro-oncology patients, or (b) underutilized timelines across the cancer treatment phases to deliver exercise oncology education or programming. Thus, our current work is building a hybrid implementation effectiveness study into the clinical care pathway across Alberta in neuro-oncology - ACE-Neuro. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of an online, tailored exercise oncology program for neuro-oncology patients using a participant-oriented research (POR) approach as well as both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Specifically, the primary outcome of this study is to determine the feasibility of recruitment, referral, triage, adherence, and adverse events. The secondary outcome is to examine the preliminary effectiveness of the neuro-oncology exercise program on patient-reported outcomes and physical function. Methods: Neuro-oncology patients >18 years and able to consent in English will be referred to a study-based Rehabilitation Triage Clinic, where a Physician-Researcher will assess patients on their overall health and functional status, and next triage them to either ACE-Neuro, rehabilitation oncology, or cancer physiatry. Once referred to ACE-Neuro, participants will partake in a 12-week online exercise program, delivered by a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Participants will complete online assessments of physical function, patient-reported outcomes, and objective physical activity at baseline (pre-program), 12-weeks (post-program completion), 6-months, and 12-months. The exercise program includes weekly one-on-one online exercise delivery, health coaching to support behaviour change, and access to an online group exercise session. Participants will also be invited to a post-program qualitative interview to get perspectives on their experiences participating in ACE-Neuro. Relevance: By working directly with patients, healthcare providers, and community partners, this implementation project will develop a framework that streamlines patient triage, and provides a tailored online exercise program for neuro-oncology patients, thereby advancing exercise oncology research and clinical practice.
