There are more than 498,563 clinical trials published worldwide with over 60,000 trials that are currently either recruiting or not yet recruiting. Use our filters on this page to find more information on current clinical trials or past clinical trials (free or paid) for study purposes and read about their results.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and feasibility of Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) opening using transcranial MRI-guided focused ultrasound in conjunction with an intravenous ultrasound contrast agent in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Enrolled subjects will be placed on a 16-week ketogenic diet (subject specific as prescribed by RD) while receiving standard of care cancer treatment (Radiation + Temozolomide). Study dietitians will create personalized meal plans for each patient with the goal of achieving and maintaining protocol defined metabolic ketosis. Subjects will be monitored for safety, nutrition, quality of life, and standard of care tumor assessments over the course of the study.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy (GALAXI 1), clinical and endoscopic efficacy (GALAXI 2 and GALAXI 3) and safety of guselkumab in participants with Crohn's disease.
The primary objective of this double-blind randomized study is to assess the effects of an early, enhanced supply of the essential fatty acids (FAs) arachidonic acid (ARA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on brain maturation, clinical outcomes and quality of growth in immature infants (gestational age <29 weeks) as compared to standard nutrient supply.
If teenagers attain the recommended amount of sleep (9-9.5 hours per night), they will feel less stress and have better athletic and academic performance. The investigators will track students sleep patterns before and after a sleep intervention where they are given a packet of sleep tips and encouraged to improve their sleep hygiene. Outcomes include stress levels, academic/athletic performance, and sleep cycle data from the sleep tracking watch.
The frailty syndrome (FS) is characterized by a multifactorial clinical syndrome, which includes 5 items, 1 - Change in body composition, 2 - Holding force, 3 - Fatigue reported, 4 - Reduction of walking speed, 5 - Low physical activity. The cumulative effect of deficits on the physiological functions caused by the syndrome results in early physical and cognitive loss. It is known that physical exercise, associated with protein supplementation are examples of non-pharmacological treatments that can promote functional and structural adaptive responses of the skeletal muscle system. One of the factors related to frailty is the reduction of body and muscle mass. Branched-chain amino acids, especially leucine, are nutrients that influence the adaptative response of muscle. It is intended through a physical exercise program (multicomponent = exercise of strength + aerobic exercise), to attenuate the effects of ageing and mainly of physical and cognitive frailty, evaluating the health parameters of frail elderly, alone or together with supplementation (BCAA), branched-chain amino acids, modulation of immune markers, markers of malnutrition and the skeletal muscle system in frail and pre-frail dwelling elderly people living in the city of Coimbra. To achieve that, the following parameters will be evaluated: biosocial indicators, anthropometric evaluation and body composition, indicators of global health and functional physical fitness, inflammatory biomarkers, neuroendocrine, signs of skeletal muscle function, evaluation of quality of life related to emotional state, cognitive profile and frailty-trait evaluation. The results obtained from the indicators, markers and questionnaires used are expected to contribute to the attenuation of frailty, improving the health and quality of life of the elderly. Keywords: frail elderly, multicomponent exercise, branched chain amino acid, healthy life
Obese individuals experience an increased risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Evidence from genetic studies indicate that the natriuretic peptide (NP) system may protect against these diseases. NP levels differ by obesity status and race has not been established in humans. Thus, the investigators propose a study in which will quantify adipose tissue gene expression and energy expenditure in states of NP deficiency in humans. The overarching postulate is that obese and black individuals have NP deficiencies that contribute to less beige adipose tissue and lower energy expenditure.
The purpose of this follow-up study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of autologous Adipose Tissue derived Mesenchymal stem cells (JOINTSTEM®) in patient with severe Knee Osteoarthritis.
The goal is to evaluate the glycemic and hemodynamic stability in patients undergoing caesarean section in patients treated with maltodextrins two hours before the cesarean section
The Elite HRV is a reliable HRV analysis tool and could be a valid option to replace the Polar V800. The objective of study is Comparing the HRV index recorded with the mobile app Elite HRV and with the multisport watch Polar V800. Individuals will submit to two RR interval recordings with a Polar H7 strap that sent the data either to the Polar V800 heart rate monitor or to the Elite HRV app. The volunteers will supine position and breathing spontaneously, and the RR intervals will collect during 25 minutes. Subsequently, without warning the subject, the strap will connect to a nother device, and the second 25minute evaluation was made. The order in which the devices will use is randomized and the HRV indexes will generated via Kubios HRV.
