Chronic Hepatitis B Patients With Concurrent MAFLD: Cohort Study and Exercise Intervention.

In Taiwan, HBV infection is endemic in the adult population. With the westernization of eating habit and lifestyle, metabolic syndrome and related non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD, newly proposed as metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver diseases, MAFLD) has become another important health issue. It is therefore common to encounter subjects with concurrent MAFLD and HBV infection in HBV endemic countries. This project will study the clinical data of patients with concurrent MAFLD and HBV, and aim to explore the impact of exercise intervention on the hepatic fatty infiltration, alteration of gut microbiota and HBV replication status in this group of patients. The research strategies will include (1) improving fatty liver and metabolic syndrome in subjects with concurrent MAFLD and HBV; and (2) exploring the changes of HBV replication and intestinal microflora in patients with concurrent HBV and MAFLD after exercise intervention.

Osteo Match Cages Versus PEEK Cages in Osteoporotic Patients

This is a multicenter, prospective cohort study. The osteoporotic patients requiring posterior lumbar interbody fusion(LIF) with cages are prospectively enrolled and followed up. The patients undergoing LIF with the biomechanical-matched 3D-printed titanium cages (Osteo Match) are compared with those using routine PEEK cages. The hypothesis is that the use of Osteo Match cages can reduce the rate of cage subsidence and increase the rate of lumbar fusion in osteoporotic patients.

An international panel of physicians, researchers, and journal editors with expertise in AI in medical imaging -- including radiology, pathology, dermatology, GI endoscopy, and ophthalmology -- will complete up to 3 web-based surveys. Participants who complete all survey rounds will be credited as contributors on resulting publications.

Peer Support Groups for Families With an Infant in the NICU

The goal of this observational study is to learn the impact of race, ethnicity, and language matched peer support groups on parental stress, anxiety, and sense of belonging for families who have or have had an infant hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The main questions aim to answer: Do race, ethnicity, and language matched peer support groups decrease parental stress and anxiety and improve sense of belonging of parents while their baby is hospitalized in the NICU? And, are there any changes that should be made to the format of the peer support group sessions? Participants will be invited to attend a peer support group that is matched for race, ethnicity, and language. Participants will have the option of filling out a survey on stress, anxiety, and sense of belonging before and after the peer group session. Additionally, participants will have the option of filling out a satisfaction survey after the peer group session.

This research project aims to investigate health communication in hospice outpatient settings and translate findings into practice by designing and testing a communication aid utilizing health information technology. The specific aims are to: (1) identify the attributes, antecedents, consequences, and implications of the concept of illness invalidation; (2) construct a theoretical framework to describe patient-healthcare provider communication; and (3) based on the theoretical framework, establish a tailored communication aid using health information technology; and investigate its effects on patient outcomes, including (a) satisfaction, (b) communication self-efficacy, (c) illness invalidation, (d) shared-decision making experience, (e) health-related quality of life, and (f) emergency room visits.

Personalized Comprehensive Diabetes Support for Children With Newly Diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if access to a diabetes coach improves quality of life (QOL) for families of children with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Determine if there are beneficial effects on diabetes-related QOL at the end of the 6-month intervention. 2. Determine if potential beneficial effects persist beyond completion of the support intervention, as measured by diabetes-related QOL at 12 months and 24 months following diagnosis Participants assigned to the intervention group will have access to a diabetes coach for 6 months following type 1 diabetes diagnosis. They will be compared to participants who are assigned to the control group and are receiving usual care.

The participants will be divided into an experimental group and a control group. Microteaching and conventional training were used respectively to verify the influence of microteaching training on the teaching skills level of university students majoring in physical education in China.
