The study will be a Phase I, open label, safety and pharmacokinetics study of HutrukinTM in at least eight healthy subjects in each of the three dose cohorts (1,000 mg, 3,000 mg and 5,000 mg).
Most current guidelines recommend hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance with ultrasound and alpha feto-protein (AFP) every 6 months for individuals with risk factors. However, the sensitivity of ultrasound for HCC detection is significantly reduced, especially in high-risk cirrhotic patients. In this study, the investigators aim to evaluate the efficacy of multiple reaction monitoring (MRM)-based multimarker panel as a surveillance tool for HCC. During two surveillance periods (starting from the time of voluntary consent and 6 months later), participants receive ultrasound, AFP, and MRM-based multimarker panel analysis. Patients who are suspected of HCC based on one of three tests undergo a contrast-enhanced CT scan within 6 weeks. After 6 months from the second surveillance period, the investigators re-evaluate the development of HCC using contrast-enhanced CT and AFP. The diagnostic accuracy of MRM-based multimarker panel is compared to ultrasound and AFP.
This is an open-label study to examine the safety and immunogenicity of synthetic DNAs encoding NP-GT8 and IL-12 with or without a TLR-agonist-adjuvanted Env Trimer 4571 boost in adults without HIV. The goal of this quantitative experimental study is to compare two occupational therapy interventions intended to improve functional skills. The main questions it aims to answer are: Question 1: Do preschool children who participate in occupational therapy intervention designed to promote integration of the TLR reflex in conjunction with fine and gross motor intervention demonstrate improved integration of the TLR reflex in clinical assessment, compared to children who participate in fine and gross motor intervention only for an equal amount of time? Question 2: Do preschool children who participate in occupational therapy intervention designed to promote integration of the TLR reflex in conjunction with fine and gross motor intervention demonstrate improved integration of the TLR reflex in clinical assessment, compared to children who participate in fine and gross motor intervention only for an equal amount of time? Participants will participate in either a therapy program consisting of either fine and gross motor treatment in conjunction with reflex integration treatment, or fine and gross motor treatment only. If there is a comparison group: Researchers will compare the group recieving reflex integration in conjunction with fine and gross motor treatment and the fine and gross motor only group to see if one is more effective at integrating the reflex and/or improving functional skills.
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) is an evidence-based non-pharmacological group therapy shown to benefit people with mild to moderate dementia. Despite increasing availability of CST worldwide, access remains limited in the United States. This pilot pragmatic trial will embed CST referral into the standard care protocol of health care settings that serve people living with dementia in the state of Connecticut, and evaluate online delivery of CST known as virtual CST (V-CST), and assess the acceptability of V-CST to people living with dementia. The study design is a two-armed randomized embedded pragmatic clinical trial (ePCT). The trial aims to determine if cognitive decline is experienced less commonly among V-CST participants than control group members based on three widely used measures of cognition, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), St. Louis University Memory Screen (SLUMS), and Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE). The study population will be persons with mild to moderate dementia identified by clinicians in standard care. From this population, subject participants will be randomized to intervention and control groups. Patients randomly assigned to the intervention group will be referred by their clinical providers to participate in V-CST, and those who accept the referral will participate in the intervention.
