Spatial Transcriptomics in Kidney Transplantation

The study is an investigator-led, prospective, longitudinal, observational cohort study. The central hypothesis for this study is that spatial data will reveal new insights to immune cell function and local interactions within the kidney tissue to better predict important clinical outcomes. Investigators aspire to establish a prospective, longitudinal cohort to improve the diagnosis and management of kidney transplant rejection using precision pathology. By utilising new spatial technologies, the investigators aim to: - Derive a spatially resolved transcriptomic signature of kidney transplant rejection subtypes - Derive accurate transcriptomic signatures aligned with key cell types within the transplant kidney - Develop refinements to histological kidney rejection diagnostic and scoring classification - Correlate of spatial and refined biopsy scoring features to clinically important outcomes

This is a pilot and feasibility study for a mobile phone-delivered intervention for memory, called MEMI (memory ecological momentary intervention), that was designed to support adults with chronic traumatic brain injury with their memory. The goal of the study is to examine the feasibility and acceptability of MEMI and to assess preliminary efficacy as to whether technology-delivered spaced memory retrieval opportunities improve memory in people with and without a history of chronic traumatic brain injury.

The Effect of Spasticity-correcting Hand Surgery for Spasticity Related Symptoms

Spasticity - a variety of motor over-activity and part of the upper motor neuron syndrome - is a common cause of impaired motor function after brain injuries of different etiologies. In addition, it may cause pain and impaired hygiene, contractures, deformities etc. Spasticity has been reported in 30 to 90% of patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI) and cerebral palsy (CP). Spasticity therapy has emerged as an important approach to alleviate related symptoms. Positive effects on spasticity are well recognized following systemic and intra-thecal pharmacological treatment, as well as after intra-muscularly injected substances; the effect of the latter is, however, of limited duration. While pharmacological spasticity therapy has been applied for decades, surgical procedures remain fairly uncommon in adults with spasticity, but not in pediatric patients with CP, and outcomes after surgical treatment are scarcely described in the literature. The study center is a specialized unit initially focused on reconstructive as well as spasticity reducing surgery in the upper extremities for SCI patients. Subsequently, patients with spasticity also due to various other Central nervous system diseases have been referred to the center for surgical treatment. Studies describing the effect of spasticity-reducing surgery in the upper extremities are rare and the group is heterogeneous. The aim of the study is therefore to evaluate the results and compare against todays golden standard treatment (boutuliniumtoxin injections).

Trial of Early Initiation of CGM-Guided Insulin Therapy in Stage 2 T1D

This protocol is an intervention study to determine the best education and monitoring strategy for children ages 2-20 years with pre-symptomatic type 1 diabetes (T1D) because there currently exists no clinical guidelines for management of these children in early-stage T1D. This study hypothesizes that the trajectory of T1D can be changed, substantially reducing HbA1c and risk of DKA at diagnosis, through (1) careful monitoring of children progressing from stage 2 to stage 3 T1D using continuous glucose monitor (CGM) technology, (2) staged education targeted to assist families in recognizing evolving dysglycemia, and (3) addressing glycemic abnormalities with early initiation of insulin.

This study is aimed at improving reporting in Chronic Subdural Haematoma (CSDH) research studies, through development of a standardised Core Outcome Set (COS), a unified CSDH Definition and set of Data Elements (DE) for reporting. The study design includes a Delphi survey process from two main stakeholder groups: Health-Care Professionals or Researchers (HCPR) and Patients or carers. HCPR, patients and carers will all be invited to complete the survey on the COS, only the HCPR survey will include questions on definition and DE. Results of the Delphi Survey will be discussed at a final consensus meeting before results are confirmed and published.

Animal-Assisted Therapy in Adolescents With Eating Disorders

This study aims to improve eating disorders symptomatology, mental, psychosocial and physical health, quality of life, strength and body composition of adolescents with eating disorders by the development of a dog-assisted therapy program. The current research will involve thirty-two patients distributed equally in a control and an experimental group. The intervention group will participate once a week in a dog-assisted therapy of seven weeks. Moreover, all the included patients will participate in an assessment session before and after the intervention to compare the effects of the dog-assisted therapy within and between groups in anxiety, depression, character, behavior, eating disorder evolution, health-related quality of life, treatment satisfaction, strength and body composition. Based on previous studies on different populations, it is expected that, compared to the control group, the experimental group may experience a potential reduction in anxiety, depression and symptoms, while improving quality of life, strength, body composition and behavior.

Adapting FAMS to Optimize CGM Use Among Emerging Adults With Type 1 Diabetes

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the efficacy of an adapted FAMS (Family/friend Activation to Motivate Self-care) intervention on CGM use among study participants who are CGM users. We will leverage the infrastructure of an NIDDK-funded RCT evaluating FAMS-T1D among N=280 emerging adults with T1D who have elevated hemoglobin A1c or elevated diabetes distress (NCT05820477). We anticipate at least 50% using CGM to be included in these analyses.
