Hydrogen sulfide is a signaling molecule that is important for vascular health. Because vascular factors such as hypertension and high cholesterol are risk factors for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, we hypothesize that hydrogen sulfide plays an important role in brain health as well. We will compare blood levels of hydrogen sulfide across groups of people with and without dementia. We will also look at the relationship between hydrogen sulfide, cognitive dysfunction and measures of brain microvascular disease examine the contribution of hydrogen sulfide to cognitive decline. Our goal is to identify a biomarker of vascular dysfunction in dementia.
Aim of this project is to understand clinical features, clinical outcomes and efficacy and safety profiles of different therapies by analyzing a cohort of COVID-19 patients hospitalized and treated in a tertiary-level institution, University hospital Dubrava. Patients' clinical and laboratory characteristics, drug exposure and outcomes are obtained by analysis of written and electronical medical records.
The aim of this study is to evaluate a new technique that optimizes the prosthesis position for patients who undergo total hip arthroplasty surgery. Today, most surgeons take a regular X-ray (2D) to plan the surgery. In this study, patients will do a computed tomography (CT) before surgery, and with the use of the new system, the investigators will be able to make a more accurate plan when it comes to prosthetic placement and leg length adjustment in 3D. The software uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate the information required for clinical conclusions automatically, and it enables surgeons to adapt to each unique case and anticipate situations during surgery. The system also helps the surgeon during operation with a navigation tool to place the implant in the pre-operatively planned position. It guides surgeons in real-time to place the implants accurately. To see whether the plan and navigation were correct, the investigators will do a new computed tomography after surgery to look at the achieved result. In addition to planning and navigation, the same system can be used to measure the migration of the prosthesis in relation to the bone over time using AI by comparing multiple scans. The investigators aim to follow all patients for 2 years (total of 4 CT scans after surgery) with the intention to be able to foresee implant loosening.

Understanding the ways in which the IVROP ReadyforLIFE program supports healthy partner relationships and economic stability is important for those providing services to at-risk youth populations.
porphyria is classified as a rare disease and is produced by defects in the enzymatic activity in the biosynthesis of the heme group that leads to the over-accumulation and excretion of porphyrin precursors in hepatocytes or erythroid cells, extrahepatic or extramedullary cells, tissue, and end-organ injury. Acute intermittent porphyria is the most common and severe form of hepatic porphyria, with an annual incidence of symptomatic patients of 0.13 per million people. Aim: characterization of cases of acute hepatic porphyria in Colombia. Methods: a descriptive pilot study of patients diagnosed with acute hepatic porphyria's in Colombia. Patients of all age groups with a confirmed diagnosis of acute hepatic porphyria. Patients with concomitant pathologies, as well as pregnant women, will also be included. Patients who refuse to participate in the study will be excluded. Expected results: describe the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of patients with a diagnosis of acute hepatic porphyria, and encourage patients and/or representatives in the research agenda.
ECG is one of the classic tests for coronary artery disease, but patients with coronary artery disease often have no onset of typical symptoms at the time of consultation, so it is difficult to capture ischemic changes on a conventional ECG. In this study, a diagnostic test was performed to assess the diagnostic value of wearable ECG for coronary artery disease, with the gold standard of coronary angiography and quantitative flow fraction. In addition, we followed up with the enrolled participants for 1 year to assess the relationship between wearable ECG and long-term prognosis.

This is a prospective, randomized, parallel, controlled study to evaluate the effectiveness of the general practitioners and diabetes specialists co-management model for type 2 diabetes. Patients with type 2 diabetes will be randomized to participate in the community general practitioners and diabetes specialists management or serve as controls continuing with routine primary health care. The primary outcome is to observe the HbA1c change.
