This is a Phase 2, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study including approximately 130 randomized HF patients with heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (LVEF ≥45%), to assess efficacy and safety of CDR132L on reverse remodeling. In this study, patients with HFpEF (EF ≥50%) or HFmrEF (LVEF 45-49%) will be included.

The Role of Hepatic Denervation in the Dysregulation of Glucose Metabolism in Liver Transplant Recipients

It is believed that important brain centers send signals through the vagus nerve to the liver to suppress the amount of glucose (sugar) that gets produced. People who have received liver transplants have had their vagus nerve cut during transplantation, and many of these individuals have diabetes at one year post-transplant. The goals of this study are: to see whether metabolic control centers in the brain can still be activated normally with the medication diazoxide in patients who have had a liver transplant, and to understand whether disrupting the vagus nerve would result in excess glucose being produced by the liver (ie. a potential mechanism for why these patients develop diabetes).

Patients over equal or older than 65 yearswill be treated with a hydroxychloroquine versus placebo reduced loading dose of 600mg on the first day followed with 400mg/day divided in 2x200mg for 6 more days resulting in a total duration of therapy of 7 days. Measurement of Hydroxychloroquine-levels will be performed on day 7, . A follow-up by video or telephone conference will be performed to observe drug intake and collect adverse events during treatment phase on a daily base on working days and once during the weekend (i.e. 6 out of 7 days). After treatment phase follow-up by telephone calls will be done on day 10, 30, 60 (+/- 2 days).

The Synchron Motor Neuroprosthesis (MNP) is intended to be used in subjects with severe motor impairment, unresponsive to medical or rehabilitative therapy and a persistent functioning motor cortex. The purpose of this research is to evaluate safety and feasibility. The MNP is a type of implantable brain computer interface which bypasses dysfunctional motor neurons. The device is designed to restore the transmission of neural signal from the cerebral cortex utilized for neuromuscular control of digital devices, resulting in a successful execution of non-mechanical digital commands.

Quality of Life After Bladder-Preservation Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy in Patients With Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer

This research trial studies quality of life after bladder-preservation chemotherapy and radiation therapy (chemo-radiotherapy) in patients with bladder cancer that has spread into or through the muscle layer of the bladder (muscle-invasive bladder cancer). Bladder-preservation chemo-radiotherapy is a standard treatment for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer, however, chemo-radiotherapy may cause urinary tract, bowel, and sexual late side effects that negatively affect patients' quality of life. Studying quality-of-life in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer after chemo-radiotherapy may help identify the long-term side effects of treatment and may help plan the best treatment in the future and improve patients' quality of life.
