The main objectives of the trial are to study whether daily treatment with liraglutide improves insulin secretion and glucose metabolism, and whether liraglutide treatment is tolerable and safe in subjects with preclinical type 1 diabetes aged 18-30 years.
Aims: The purposes of this study are 1. to create a smart living environment with home care system using GPS and cloud-based services for elderly people. 2. to improve the home care system from user feedback and recommendations. Methods: Participants (n = 50) will be recruited from geriatric clinics in National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) main hospital and its Beihu branch. Enrollment criteria include: aged 60 or older, living alone or with one companion (not children), taking at least one chronic medications, having the capability to understand the study and complete the study, willing to participate into the study with telephone follow ups.
the investigators have observed that women may require less CF than men to occlude the esophageal entrance, and that the routine use of 30 N in women may actually increase the incidence of airway-related problems. The objective of the current investigation was to test this hypothesis. In this study, real-time visual and dynamic means were used to assess the effectiveness of different forces applied to the cricoid cartilage in occluding the esophageal entrance in men and women. The patency of the esophageal entrance was directly visualized using the Glidescope Video Laryngoscope in anesthetized and paralyzed patients with and without CP. Evidence of closure of the esophageal lumen was confirmed by the inability to introduce a gastric tube (GT) into the esophagus under direct vision. New method , using Cricometer , was used to measure the applied force .
End stage renal disease (ESRD) is related with increased cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Hypertension (HT) is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disorder among hemodialysis (HD) patients. The aim of this study going to investigate the effectivity of low-sodium dialysate on the systolic and diastolic blood pressure (BP) levels detected by ABPM and interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) in patients undergoing sustained hemodialysis treatment. Methods: The study will be included 46 patients who had creatinine clearance levels less than 10 ml/min/1.73 m2 and had been on chronic HD treatment for at least one year. After the enrollment stage, the patients will be allocated low-sodium dialysate or standard-sodium dialysate for six months via computer-generated randomization.
Glycemic index is commonly used as a method to determine the effect of a food to blood glucose. Despite its carbohydrate and fat content, instant noodle is very popular in Asia, including Indonesia. Based on the serving method, there are instant noodle without and with soup. Studies have shown that water content of a meal may influence glycemic response of the meal and thus have an effect on the result of GI measurement. However none specifically studied instant noodles nor the additional water content as soup (not incorporated in the food matrix). Therefore, this study aims to determine whether the serving method of instant noodle (with and without soup) may influence the glycemic response and glycemic index value of the meal.
This is a single center study for adult females or males ages 25 to 75 years who are seeking treatment for etched-in fine lines of the cutaneous lip, and/or radial cheek area, and/or nasolabial folds, and/or melolabial folds, and/or forehead. The purpose of this study is to evaluate blended Belotero for the treatment of etched-in fine facial lines and to monitor for adverse events.
This study investigates if Parathyroid Tissues Anatomic Localizations Are Displaced Downward in Parathyroid Hyperplasia Cases or not.
The patients will exposed to different intervention through three nights (ear plug, eye mask). 50 patients in the age range 18- 60 years admitted to ICU of Assiut university hospitals will be randomly allocated into into two groups (control group and intervention group).
Early detection of intra-abdominal hypertension is essential to the prevention of abdominal compartment syndrome and requires close surveillance of intra-abdominal hypertension in patients at increased risk. intra-abdominal hypertension measurements are often taken by the bedside nurse, and in some cases, initiation of serial intra-abdominal hypertension monitoring is prompted by critical care nurses.
The aim of this study is to investigate the potential novel risk factors for acute myocardial infarction. Predictors of poor outcomes will be also evaluated.
